Ian Sandercock

My first appointment with Toby was exactly what I wanted and needed. He worked really hard to understand me and my health and has filled me with confidence that he will help me. His approach was holistic and certainly more comprehensive than any physio I have dealt with. Not rushed at all and I am confident that a great plan will come together.

I recently had a physiotherapy session with Toby Moen, and I was incredibly impressed. Toby was not only friendly and approachable, but also thoroughly professional and deeply knowledgeable. He took the time to listen, explain everything clearly, and made me feel genuinely cared for throughout the session. It’s rare to find someone who combines expertise with such warmth and compassion. I can’t recommend him highly enough—he’s truly exceptional at what he does! Thank you very much toby.

These guys really know what they’re doing. As a movement and body geek, I was met with enthusiasm and broad-range knowledge.

Toby was ready to meet me where I was at, debunk my misconceptions of “the right” posture backed by research and spoke directly to my questions and goals. He provided take home notes that were clear, in my own words and accessible for me. I can change my training, confidently knowing that I doing right by my body.

Beautiful space, vibey and down-to earth. Great for athletes and serious trainers. Highly recommend.

From day one, they were professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. Their personalized approach, patience, and encouragement helped me regain my strength and confidence. Thanks to their expertise, I am now fit and pain-free. I truly appreciate everything they have done for me. Thank you, Jed and Jack, for going above and beyond—I highly recommend FORM Physio to anyone in need of excellent care!

I’ve been to Form twice, for separate issues. Why only twice? Because the advice I got worked. And that’s the point. If you follow the advice and do the work, you’ll see them less. Which is fine by Toby. As he said to me, “if you keep coming back for the same issue, then we aren’t doing our job”. And that’s the type of honesty I respect when it relates to my health. In short: the team at Form are excellent. Highly recommended.

It’s been an exceptional experience with City Physio and specifically with Physiotherapist Simon and the Remedial Massage Therapist Pavel. After suffering from whiplash due to a car accident. Both Simon and Pavel are professional and personable, with a down to earth approach. I feel confident and supported in my path to recovery.

The worst physio I have ever been to. I had Mr Simon Mew treat me twice for headaches and both times were perfunctory. His “massage” was more like caressing, and he did it absentmindedly while playing with his phone (he only used one hand, the massage was intermittent without any force). After 15 minutes, he couldn’t wait to tell me that the treatment was over, without any stretching or daily maintenance advice, and didn’t even ask if I felt better. If he doesn’t know how to do physiotherapy, then he must be racist to treat me like this.

Leroy Morales

I’ve been to many different physios who all use massages as a recovery method, and after visiting them, I rarely found that I had received a good massage. Many of these physios would often go too light on the massages. This is the opposite with Linda; she ensures that she delivers an amazing hands-on massage, as well as the occasional cupping and dry needling session.

I’ve been going to Linda for about 6 years now for treatment of an ongoing inflammatory disease. Her treatment of my condition has always been excellent. Simon has also treated me for trismus following wisdom tooth removal, which was very effective and allowed me to talk, sing and eat without pain (I’ve never experienced pain like it!). Highly recommend her and the whole team at City Physio.

I was only in Adelaide for a couple of days and had real issues with pain in my glutes and hamstrings. As we were travelling around Australia for seven weeks it was a real problem.
I managed to get Dev’s last appointment on the day I was leaving and he was wonderful! He asked what I wanted to achieve as it was a one off appointment which was basically to reduce the pain and know what to do to start to recover.
He listened to the issues, examined me, then did some manipulation and dry needling.
He gave me exercises to do and sent me a letter to pass on to the next physio I saw (said I needed to see someone every week).
He also said other physios could contact him if they had any questions.
What a service! I couldn’t ask for any more and really appreciated Dev’s concern and care in the short time I saw him.
Thank you Dev!

A little bit about myself, I have severe hearing loss, its not that I can’t hear its that I might miss interpret what you say, therefore I’m a highly observant person and aware of my surroundings.
I love to draw figurative and landscape Art.
I’ve had positive experiences with the Human Kind Team being recognised, giving me a sense of self worth ! A good morning, hi Mark, how you going ?
Yogi member’s are talkative and respectful too.
In two relationships which were important to me, I finally walked away from 24 years of narcissistic abuse, where I felt controlled, manipulated and not respected. I worked extremely hard everyday to just get myself up, out of bed and head to Yoga on a regular bases.
Why did I stay in those relationships ? For my now 3 adult children and 2 teenage children.
Yoga has been a vital part of maintaining my mental heath and keeping my body strong, I started Yoga in 2001 with Sue Czuchwicki (Yoga Fusion) then in 2023 with Ellie Johns (Equilibrium) and continued my journey on with Human Kind in 2024.
All the staff at Human Kind have been very supportive, shown respect, kindness, a smile and a sense of your OK, we’ve got your back.
A special thank you to Annabel Saies your encouragement has been amazing.”Your on a good pathway Mark”
Jemima Thomson for just listening and not judging.
Triton,Tessa, Adam, Becca, Ben, Claire, Alicia, Brendo, Dan, Juanita, Mila, Nicola, Temeka, Steve, Tom, Tyler, Vanessa, Virginia, Bianca and Pippa you have all played a role in my journey of healing.
I have felt save at Human kind, I’m a self taught Yogi, I believe Yoga is meditative, if you can connect your breathing with your body, mind and spirit then this is the highest sense of balance, once in this space. I feel nothing around me, “I feel balanced and strong” its an amazing feeling.Regards Mark Bennett

Recently I saw Ben whilst performing at the Adelaide Fringe, I had ongoing issues with pain in my forearms which impacted my performance on aerial apparatus. I had seen a sports doctor in Melbourne but to little/ no improvement. From the outset, Ben’s hugely practical approach to identifying the problem was to a level of detail I hadn’t encountered from other professionals. He conducted a number of tests and questions, and then subsequent tests from my responses which gained a much more accurate diagnosis I had previously received. For me I would recommend Ben mainly for his understanding of how varied lifestyles can be and that for some people, particularly those with highly physical jobs, taking an extended period of ‘rest’ or ‘time off’ simply isn’t an option. Instead he works around your lifestyle to find the best solutions, both short and long term. To that end we found exercises during Fringe that prevented my injury from worsening and managed my pain while doing 6+ acrobatic shows a week for the month. I strongly believe that my performances were sustained to the best of my ability due to the care I received from Ben. As well as his clearly extensive knowledge of the body, Ben was excellent at being extremely specific in his suggestions and instructions, explaining the more complex scientific and physiological stuff, having no problem answering my endless questions about recovery time etc. and also just checking in that you as a patient and person were happy with how things were going. His knowledge and professional manner while being very open and approachable are a hugely reassuring quality that I think is invaluable when injury recovery can be so demoralising and daunting. The exercises and suggestions he gave me to continue since leaving Adelaide have brought my pain to the lowest it’s been in 6 months. He also does some awesome needling which I would highly recommend. The guy’s a bloody legend.

From the moment I first walked into the reception area @ Human Kind, I could feel that I was in a place filled with light and positive energy.
Annabelle, on the desk at the time, was so welcoming and helpful and made me feel ‘at home’. I joined in the coversation and as I was experiencing pain @ the time this was a welcome diversion.
From my first session with Sam, the physio, I felt totally supported.
He is a great listener and is empathic, taking a holistic approach to the treatment.
Good sense of humour as well.Very important!
I have continued with my treatment on a semi regular basis and always find it a relief and pleasure to once again, walk through the door into ‘Human Kind’.

As a working dancer, singer, actor and acrobat, I’ve been working with Ken for a few years now after a lifetime of physical challenges due to a combo of my own anatomy and rigorous training and performing. Ken has provided me with care, understanding, comfortability and support, as well as a profound and constantly evolving wealth of knowledge. Have been to many physiotherapist and chiropractors over my time, but when referred to Ken from a CrossFit coach, I won’t waste my time and money elsewhere. I’ve been seeing Ken for a few years now, and he’s hands down the best physio I’ve ever worked with. He doesn’t just treat the symptoms—he actually gets to the root of the problem and fixes it properly. Every session feels purposeful, and the results speak for themselves. Ken is an exceptional physio—extremely welcoming, positive, and genuinely invested in his patients’ progress. It’s rare to look forward to medical appointments, but with Ken, I did! Every session felt productive, with noticeable improvements and real, tangible benefits.

What sets Ken apart is his holistic approach. Rather than just focusing on a single pain point, he takes the time to examine your body mechanics and explain why these issues occur in a way that makes rehab more effective and helps you better understand how your body moves. Thanks to Ken, my recovery was smoother and more informed. Highly recommend!

I’ve seen multiple physiotherapists over the years and rarely experienced long-term improvement despite following all their recommended exercises. However, my visits with Ken at Four Axis Physio have been a game changer. In just a few comprehensive, hour-long sessions, he helped resolve my plantar fasciitis, correct my walking form, and vastly improve the limited range of motion in my elbow. Ken truly knows his stuff—he takes the time to understand your issues and tailors the plan to ensure real results. Previous Physio’s, don’t seem to go deep enough with their assessments and often appear to be treating items that are not the root cause of the issue. I can’t recommend him highly enough!

Josh is a legend! For the first time in 10 years & after numerous other allied health professionals, I have barely any pain in the areas in my body that have needed help for a long time. The cost of a visit is priceless compared to being mobile 🙂

Money back guarantee apparently does not mean that at all.

I saw James for months. I told him at the first session money is an issue for me. I asked if I could see anyone cheaper than him personally. He quickly says that he is the only one with the experience to manage this. I had asked the receptionist maybe I see James for a consult and then see someone cheaper for follow up? Apparently this wasn’t possible.

In the first session James says yep, we should be able to fix you in 2 or 3 sessions. In the second session he says yep, should be able to fix you within 6 months.

And then when I am no better after months of treatment, and ask about this money back guarantee, I am given the runaround for TWO MONTHS, and then denied because “James noted improvement”. Oh the guy making the money says I’m getting better? I’m not any better James! Hope you sleep well at night taking advantage of people!

I went to see Kenneth at Advanced Physio for my neck after a boating injury. Before going to Advanced I had been to lots of other places with no joy and ongoing neck ache for 2 months!
Two sessions with Kenneth and I am now on the road to recovery.
Very pleased with this business and would highly recommended to anyone looking to fix and injury.
Thanks, Jamie

I was diagnosed with lumbar stenosis. I could not stand for more than two minutes. The pain was excruciating and would go down my right leg and hip. I honestly thought I could not walk again. I was told that I need to get a surgery to remove part of the disc.

I cannot thank my physiotherapist, Mat enough. He made a big difference and improvement in my lower back within my first couple of visits. If you have stenosis, you would know bad it can get.

Today would be roughly 2 months of me seeing Mat and getting the treatment and I feel amazing. I can walk normally and my stenosis have reduced by a lot let’s say it’s non existent. I can live normally.

Thank you mat. You have made a big impact.

Frequently Asked Questions about Physiotherapists in Adelaide

What exactly does a physiotherapist do?

Physiotherapists, also known as physical therapists, are healthcare professionals who help people affected by injury, illness, or disability. They focus on restoring movement and function to improve a person's overall quality of life. They achieve this through a variety of techniques including exercise prescription, manual therapy, and education.

What conditions can a physiotherapist help with?

Physiotherapists in Adelaide treat a wide range of conditions. These include back pain, neck pain, sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, neurological conditions like stroke, cardiorespiratory problems, and musculoskeletal disorders. Essentially, they address anything that impacts a person’s ability to move comfortably and effectively.

Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?

This depends on the specific physiotherapist and their business model. While a referral from a doctor is often recommended, many physiotherapists in Adelaide operate under a "direct access" model, meaning you can book an appointment without one. However, your private health insurance may require a referral to claim rebates.

What should I expect during my first physiotherapy appointment?

Your first appointment will involve a thorough assessment. The physiotherapist will ask detailed questions about your medical history, current symptoms, and goals. They’re also likely to perform a physical examination, which may include observing your movement patterns, assessing your posture, and performing strength and range-of-motion tests. Based on this assessment, they will develop a personalized treatment plan.

What are the different treatment methods used by physiotherapists?

Physiotherapists employ various treatment techniques. These can include manual therapy (massage, joint mobilization), therapeutic exercise, electrotherapy (ultrasound, TENS), dry needling, hydrotherapy (exercises in water), and patient education about proper posture, ergonomics, and injury prevention.

How long does physiotherapy treatment typically last?

The duration of physiotherapy treatment varies greatly depending on the complexity of the condition, the individual’s response to treatment, and their commitment to the rehabilitation program. Some people may require only a few sessions, while others might need several weeks or months. The physiotherapist will regularly evaluate progress and adjust the treatment plan accordingly.

What are the costs associated with physiotherapy sessions in Adelaide?

The cost of a physiotherapy session in Adelaide can vary depending on the physiotherapist’s experience, the location of the clinic, and the specific treatments provided. Generally, expect to pay somewhere in the range of $80 to $150 per session. Many clinics offer package deals or discounts for multiple sessions. Checking the clinic's website or calling them directly is recommended for exact pricing.

Can I claim physiotherapy costs through my private health insurance?

Many people with private health insurance can claim a rebate for physiotherapy sessions. The amount of the rebate depends on your individual insurance policy and the level of cover you have. You’ll typically need a referral from a doctor to be eligible for a full rebate. It’s best to contact your health fund to confirm your coverage.

How can I find a reputable physiotherapist in Adelaide?

Finding a good physiotherapist involves several steps. Consider asking for recommendations from friends, family, or your doctor. You can also search online directories and read patient reviews. Checking the physiotherapist’s qualifications and experience is also crucial. Many clinics offer initial consultations allowing you to assess their approach and suitability.

What is the role of patient participation in the physiotherapy process?

Patient participation is essential for successful physiotherapy. This involves actively following the physiotherapist’s instructions, performing prescribed exercises regularly, making necessary lifestyle modifications, and communicating openly about your progress and any concerns. A collaborative approach between the patient and the physiotherapist leads to better outcomes.
