I’ve only ever had great experiences at this clinic. The admin staff are friendly and efficient, the doctors are extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to speak to. I have recommended this clinic to others before and will continue to do so.

Wonderful experience at Vitality Medical Centre. Not only were they able to fit me in on a Saturday at 9am but Dr Anthony Lau was world class. His expertise, specifically regarding skin conditions is second to none. He is also incredibly personable, putting you completely at ease as a patient. I highly recommend this clinic and will definitely be visiting for my future medical needs.

I was recommended by a friend to see Dr Anthony Lau after experiencing issues with my skin. I had coin shaped rashes on my arms and legs that first appeared when I was pregnant over a year ago and persisted on and off for months after. I had gone to a few different GPs who actually diagnosed me correctly but didn’t offer me the appropriate intervention. Dr. Anthony prescribed me a topical steroid, stronger than what I was previously prescribed. Within a week, my skin completely cleared of these rashes.
I can’t thank Dr Anthony enough. It literally took one appointment + a $40 gap fee to make such a positive impact in my life.
He saved me from having to see a dermatologist and spending hundreds of dollars. Couldn’t recommend him enough!! If you have any skin related concerns, book yourself in! You won’t regret it!

I have been attending this practice for around 15 years now and always experienced great service and care.
It’s very professionally managed and I have found those doctors I have dealt with, (notably my own doctor) to be of a very high standard with excellent interpersonal skills.
I would definitely recommend to anyone, looking for a well run health care centre, offering numerous services in a caring environment.

Customer Reviews
Based on most of the previous Google reviews, I believed that Dr. Paul Bolton was an approachable and friendly person. However, today’s experience made me feel that he was in a bad mood during the consultation, and his attitude left me feeling very upset. I cried after leaving the clinic. As a foreigner unfamiliar with how medical institutions operate in Australia, I felt mistrusted and judged. He made me feel something like, “I shouldn’t have brought up such a big issue so directly,” and “I should have already known what I didn’t know.” I hope that today’s incident was just an unfortunate exception, and not a reflection of Dr. Bolton being biased against certain patients or types of inquiries. I guess that someone as successful as Dr. Bolton, and the clinic may not be concerned about the feelings of individual patients, but I still believe he is a kind and professional doctor who usually takes into account his patients’ feelings and backgrounds, and communicates as well as he performs. I sincerely hope that the doctors and staff here are not burdened by negative emotions at work, and that no patient will have to leave the clinic in tears as I did. In addition, someone close to me avoids seeing GPs because he was treated badly by one in his youth. Your attitude might have more impact on patients than you think.
Update: Just learned this from other Asian mates (both foreign and domestic) that my experience is not an exception. What a coincidence

Been seeing Dr Alison Cranwell for years now and she’s an amazing doctor! Very knowledgeable, compassionate and empathetic. Wouldn’t want to change GP even after I’ve moved far away.
The receptionist Angela is also very lovely and helpful every time I visit the practice.
Also a big thanks to nurse Chelsea for your help today. What an amazing and thoughtful lady!

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Paul Bolton at the university health practice for over 10 years, and I can say with absolute confidence that he is an exceptional doctor and a genuinely incredible person.
Throughout various stages of my life, he has been a constant source of support and kindness. During my university years, I was seriously unwell with an eating disorder that required multiple hospital admissions. Dr. B not only ensured I was connected with the right care but also provided ongoing support between hospital stays. He checked in regularly, making sure I was safe both physically and mentally. Even when I was resistant to attend other appointments, I always felt comfortable and safe to attend my appointments with Dr. B.
His support during that time quite literally saved my life and contributed to my recovery. Thanks to his dedication, I’ve been able to move forward and lead a fulfilling life.
These days, I only need to see Dr. B occasionally but even after finishing my university studies and trying other GPs in my local area none have matched his expertise, kindness, and ability to build rapport. He consistently goes above and beyond for his patients.
I couldn’t recommend Dr. B more highly. He is not only an outstanding doctor but also a truly compassionate and dedicated professional who genuinely cares about his patients. If you ever read this, Doccy B, please know how profoundly grateful I am for your kindness, support, and the difference you have made in my life.
The receptionists and nurses are also amazing too!

I have been attending UHP for almost 10 years now and seeing Dr Alison Cranwell for most of this time. She is always professional and courteous and shows genuine care for me as a long-time patient, and now my son as well. Staff are always willing to help and are very communicative.
Every time I have visited any other GP practice, I have been disappointed with the service, which is why I will always come back here. 5 stars!

I made an appointment at this clinic, but neither the doctor nor the front desk informed me that prior booking was required for the service. I went to the nearby Australian Clinical Labs, only to be told an appointment was necessary.
The situation was made worse as the service required fasting, and I had adjusted my schedule accordingly, only to waste time due to unclear information. When explaining this to the front desk, they rudely interrupted me and prioritized other staff, showing no understanding or apology for the inconvenience.

Dr Benny Tang saved my life. I’m not over exaggerating here, I mean it! I was addicted to codeine and at a point where enough was enough (i was going to accidentally OD). I called the drug and alcohol line who gave me two options 1. DASSA 2. Dr benny Tang. I didn’t have good experiences with DASSa in the past so I went for option number 2. I was already withdrawing and so anxious the day I went in. I got to Benny’s clinic at 930am on the dot (no appointment required it’s walk in) and my life completely changed from that day. I’m now almost 5 months into being on suboxone and I’m healthy and alive. Dr Tang listens, he understands and he validates all your emotions and concerns. He’s an amazing Dr he has a vision and you can see it. His beautiful wife is the receptionist and is very caring and sweet. If you’re looking for a sign to be sober and free from addiction, this is it!! X

Dr. Benny Tang. Is probably only one of the best doctors in Australia who actually cares about his patients. Im on the Suboxone treatment/program, after having a oxycondone and herion addiction. Suboxone has saved my life. I don’t crave opiates. I take Suboxone first thing in the morning and it works within 5 minutes. It makes you feel better. It gives you motivation. You don’t have the come down opiate effects, feeling lerthargic, hot and cold body temperature and no motivation to do anything. I feel motivated to do everything. During my opiate addiction. I lost interest in life and I didn’t even go to work. Now my life is back on track, I actually love my job as a Mechanical Fitter and Welder by Trade and now I love going to work because I feel alot better and not feeling aggitated from the opiate comedown effects. Iknow Dr. Benny Tang is a very busy man. But he does care about his patients and he genuinely wants to help people who have a bad drug addiction. I am not talking bad about all doctors. But alot of other doctors just want to rush and have a patient come in and out as fast as possible. I understand doctors are working against the clock aswell. If you tell Dr. TANG your problems. He will do his best to help you. Too bad there is not enough doctors like Dr. BENNY TANG. I highly reccomend suboxone for opiate addicts. It’s highly effective, only con it tastes gross, bur just take mouth wash or brush your teeth after and you will be fine. Thankyou Dr. TANG for saving my life. I can now live a normal life again. I am more stable, fuctional, more socialable and now I see my famiily more often. Because during my addicition I didn’t want to do anything besides getting high. When I used to work FIFO, I was on the Buvidal injection – In my opinioun the Suboxone strips are 70% more effective than the buvidal jab. I highly reccomend the Suboxone strip program/treatmenr. It could save your life.

I love Dr Benny Tang. He is the best doctor. I started seeing him in 2018 and before then my last regular GP was my childhood family doctor that passed away, I couldn’t find some one I liked and trusted enough to return to until meeting Dr Tang at the Modbury medical centre and following him to Clinic H. I recommend him to everyone and anyone who needs help and support and it makes me very happy to see that the Clinic H is ever evolving and changing with new additions constantly. Having a one stop shop for all medical needs is such a luxury. Thanks Benny ☺️

If it wasn’t for Dr Tang I would be dead and my son wouldn’t have a Mother. He is truly a lifesaver. A very busy man who is on a mission to save people’s quality of life. My whole life turned around and I feel like a new person and it’s thanks to his determination to help people. He is also a very kind understanding person. What else could you need in a Dr?! 10/10

Dr Benny Tang has been such a great doctor for me. I never felt uncomfortable telling Dr Tang what was/has been going on and he listened, never brushing off my opinion (even with the strict rules in his field). He’s an extremely hard worker who’s dedicated to his patients and almost always returns phone calls within a day.

Need some more customer service with clear expectations around performance of specific tests for certain cohorts.
Just don’t plan a visit in a busy day and be aware that paperwork and an interview will be conducted before doing a cervical screening, and you may be directed to do old Pap smear anyways. Probably better to go to your usual GP that have your file if you want it done quickly.

My appointment was delayed by an hour. It is good practice to send a text message to the patient if the doctor is more than 30 minutes late and give the option to cancel or reschedule the visit via the link in the SMS.
The second visit was quick and pleasant. The vaccination went well, I received answers to all questions. My son spent time in the children’s room and got lolipop.

I had very great experience first time going there with Dr. Malene. The staff on that day was nice and friendly.
However, the second time I went there for blood test was very bad. The staff wasn’t willing to give me any information (it’s my first time doing blood test there). Worst than that, he didn’t do job properly for booking appointment for me.
I kept getting auto message asking me to book appointment even on the day of my appointment so I called to ask them turns out there’s no record. What if I already arrived there? Waste of time. At least do your job properly if you can’t have service-minded.

Everything went well from start to end of my visit, no long waits. I arrived at the clinic 15 minutes before my scheduled appointment, entered a clean and pleasant-smelling clinic while being greeted by friendly and approachable receptionists. Showed my Medicare card for them to verify my booked appointment and took a seat. A few minutes before my scheduled appointment time, the doctor called me in and we had a good chat in his room. All done in less than 10 minutes, as he greeted me off. I was very happy with the whole process that I treated myself to a scrumptious Portuguese custard tart at the Central Market (conveniently 5 minutes’ walk away from this City Clinic) ☕️ Thank you City Clinic team!

I had a consult with Dr Rose at City Clinic when I was feeling very unwell with a viral infection. She was extremely thorough in checking me over, ordered blood tests, and provided antibiotics to help me recover. Throughout the consultation, Dr Rose was caring, attentive, and clearly very knowledgeable. I felt well looked after and confident in her care. I highly recommend Dr Rose to anyone looking for a professional and compassionate doctor.

Worst experience- Dr. Rose, she is too rude, do not answer any concerns. Her focus is on putting information in system and she will open the door at your face. If you don’t even have time to listen then Why are you even working. This clinic books 10 appointments for the same slot, one have to wait for 30 mins to 1 hour even receptionists sitting at front are also too cold. After waiting for long time you have to see a Doc who is just doing data entry work, she will just collect the data and she has nothing to do with the medical issues.

I was thankful to get an appointment. However, the Doctor wasn’t very good, and didn’t examine the area I was having pain and trouble with. She prescribed me medication and misdiagnosed me, overall she didn’t treat me properly and I think she makes the clinic look bad.

I had an appointment with Dr. Rajat at 12:40 PM, but I ended up waiting for more than 45 minutes while the previous patient was still inside. I eventually had to switch to another doctor because I couldn’t wait any longer.
It’s really frustrating, especially because I have university classes and other commitments. Doctors should respect appointment times—people have things to do and schedules to follow. I hope the clinic takes this issue seriously and improves their time management.

DO NOT BOOK DR. ROSE REED.
I went there with a severe hot water burn but it was 7 minutes into my 10 minutes appointment, she still hadn’t asked me what was I there for. Rather kept checking my previous medical history and started writing medicines and tests. I had to interfere her to tell that I was there for a different reason that day. She gave me an unnecessary sample testing for Shingles, whereas it was quite apparent from my burn that it was from hot water, and never ever a shingle. She just drained my blister, didn’t bother to clean the wound with saline , and had directly put a bandaid on it. It hurt me like hell the next day to take that bandaid out from a raw blister. She didn’t give me an antibiotic for healing.
When I showed my burn to every other doctor friends in Australia and overseas, they all said the same thing that in no way it looks like shingles and how did she not prescribe an antibiotic for healing for that kind of burn? She didn’t even ask for coming back for a dressing- so careless. I wasted 85 dollars for a horrible consultation, and also 50 minutes of my life because they have the worst scheduling management.
I had to book another appointment two days later with another doctor just to get the dressing and antibiotic.
She has to do better.

Excellent Care, Professional Team and Affordable
I’ve visited City Medical Centre several times, including for a minor surgery last week, and have consistently received excellent care. Both the reception staff and the doctor were polite, respectful and professional. The doctor is particularly patient and to the point, which made the consultations clear and informative — I’ve genuinely learned a lot from each visit.
The surgery was performed smoothly, recovery is going well, and everything proceeded as expected. The doctor’s expertise and calm approach gave me real confidence.
One limitation is that phone bookings can be hard to get through, which I understand may be due to staffing limitations — something many clinics face under current funding pressures.
Importantly, the out-of-pocket cost is very reasonable, especially compared to other medical centres. That makes a big difference when you’re needing ongoing care.
Highly recommend this clinic for its quality, affordability and professionalism.

I got flu vaccine here, the nurse is good and patient, but I am confused that they charged me $10 by myself and $45 on Bupa insurance card without Medicare, but you only need to pay $15 on your own without insurance. The front staff just asked me to provide the insurance card and swipe it without telling me the amount, when I asked her, she answered” it has been processed “.
It is another way to stolen money from my insurance. I will inform to Bupa about it.

I’ve been a patient of this place and I can’t recommend them highly enough. They are not only knowledgeable and professional but also genuinely care about my well-being. Their staff Emily and GP always takes the time to listen to my concerns, thoroughly explain treatment options, and ensure I feel comfortable with the plan of care. Their attention to detail and compassionate approach have made a significant difference in my health. I feel fortunate to have such a dedicated and kind doctor!

Customer Reviews
Extremely disappointed with the GP specifically Dr Jessica Donaghue who came off as extremely rude and dismissive to my partner. Dr Jessica was very blunt and seemed uninterested of her wellbeing and rather than reassuring her, Dr Jessica just dismissed all of her thoughts and did not ask follow up questions which would have my partner understand what she’s going through. She DID NOT HELP WHATSOEVER making my partner stressed and anxious. Not even advice on what to do next. As well as wasting our time and money! We paid to have a chat for 10 MINUTES TO LEARN NOTHING!!! Unfortunately will not be returning! Pathetic… If you are having a bad day don’t take it out on the patient, but if you weren’t I truly hope it really isn’t how you treat patients on a regular.

I am very disappointed with the service I received. I provided my sample twice to the pathology, and it has now been over 15 days with no communication or update regarding my results.
When I followed up, I was told that I cannot access my reports unless I consult with the doctor. I find this unacceptable, especially considering I already paid $102 for an in-person consultation previously. Now I am being asked to pay another $102 just for a phone appointment—simply to receive my own results.
This experience has been extremely frustrating and unprofessional. I feel that patients deserve timely updates, transparent communication, and access to their own medical information without being charged repeatedly.

Since I’ve spent the last two years in Australia, I’ve been sending my insurance documents via email to the medical office’s reception. At my request, the reception forwards the papers to the doctor, who fills out the insurance forms and sends them back to me by email—or even immediately if he has the time.
However, in this medical office, after several consultations and having spent nearly $700, I’m now being asked to print my own insurance documents (which is just a single A4 sheet, I should add) because, quote: “it’s not our job to print the documents for you.” I insisted, explaining politely that I live in a hotel and that it’s very complicated for me to print papers, and that they could easily do it at the reception since they print papers every day. Meanwhile, a young woman in an office, seemingly very annoyed, made big gestures and said, “Okay, we’ll print your papers.”
I am very disappointed and did not appreciate the behavior of the reception staff. I now understand the previous negative reviews, and I will never return to that medical office.

I saw Dr Rebecca Jury while passing through Adelaide (not from here) and she was so helpful and kind! She took time to explain things to me in an accessible way and to ensure she gave the best advice she could.
If I lived here I’d definitely go to her as my gp ☺️

Extremely Disappointed – Do Not Recommend!
I’ve been a patient of this GP for almost a year, and my experience has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. After multiple visits, the doctor has failed to provide any real solutions to my health issues. Instead, I’ve been repeatedly given antibiotics—most of which I could easily purchase over the counter! It’s clear that this practice is more interested in pushing appointments and charging for consultations than actually helping patients.
They’ve charged me THREE times for services that didn’t result in any improvement, and after each appointment, I’m just told to book yet another appointment. What a joke!
To make matters worse, when I tried to cancel an appointment once due to work commitments, they informed me that a cancellation fee would be applied. Seriously? This is how they treat loyal customers who’ve been paying for subpar service?
It’s no wonder their ratings are so low. I’ve had enough of this pathetic service and will never return. There are so many better options out there—do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place.

Disappointed with how this practice is run.
– They have made multiple mistakes on the medical records and appointment scheduling of my family and I.
– They failed to alert me when my test results were received.
– Reception was ambivalent and patronising to my frustrations.
I trust you can find health care professionals that will care about your health.
I do not recommend this business.

Extremely poor customer service, I rang ahead to ask if Dr was running on time and was told “it’s hard to tell”, then upon arriving 5 minutes after my call she was running 30 minutes late. Reception staff were honestly quite rude. Not impressed

Hutt Street General Practice appears to offer a range of medical services. Based on available information, finding a suitable doctor seems key, as experiences vary. Some patients have praised specific doctors for their thoroughness and caring approach, highlighting a positive patient-doctor relationship. It is also important to consider the accessibility and administrative support offered.
However, others have reported concerns regarding documentation handling and potential discomfort during appointments. It’s crucial for prospective patients to be aware that the quality of care can be dependent on the individual healthcare provider. Seeking out referrals or researching doctor profiles might be beneficial for a better match.

When I requested my files be transferred to a new clinic – which I paid a fee for – several documents were missing. What’s worse is when I called, the receptionist wasted several minutes arguing that I’d received all my documents before finding the missing pages on her system.
The desk staff and nurses also never failed to make me feel uncomfortable in the 7+ years I was a patient here. It’s extremely poor practice to employ GPs who specialise in trans healthcare while clearly offering other staff 0 training, especially considering the gap they charge to concession card holders and pensioners.

I’ve seen Dr. Balouch a few times now and have been consistently impressed with the level of care she provides. She’s incredibly thorough, attentive, and genuinely caring in her approach. It’s clear that she takes the time to listen and ensure nothing is overlooked. I always feel well looked after and confident in the care I receive from her. Highly recommend her as a GP!

I have been seeing Dr Jess Donaghue for routine appointments over the past few years and they have been wonderful and always very kind and helpful. Recently I’ve seen Dr Summaya Balouch also at this practice who has gone above and beyond to help me with the health checks and vaccine requirements for my nursing studies. The reception staff are also always so friendly to me over the phone and in person, even when I have called right before they close for the day. I would highly recommend this practice. – Nixy

I had a terrible experience with a doctor Jessica donaghue, only examined me because I asked and requested tests because I insisted. Her demeanor was strange and apathetic; I don’t understand how she became a doctor.
Zero experience; she considers nothing at all. It was a complete waste of time and money.
I was completely disappointed. She received my test results, knowing my urgency, but didn’t communicate them to me. Both appointments were over an hour late.

Unfortunately, a doctor who I was seeing for an extended period has turned from a warm, caring and sympathetic doctor to one who was extraordinarily callous, cold, and rude. Concerning turn of events considering one of their specialties are supposedly on taking care of the mentally ill. I’ve since changed GP’s and am happier since.
Piggy backing of other reviews, the receptionist(s) can be rude at times but I’ve had largely positive experiences with them and I chalk my experiences of the occasional rudeness as unintended. That said, I also witnessed instances where their rudeness, and handling of situations, probably could’ve been better handled.
Overall, had it not been for my doctor, I probably would’ve still be attending this clinic.

Very very upset with my visit.
It was clear I was very sick by slumping in my chair. The Staff and the Dr just walked by leaving me to suffer. The wait for my appt was painful and I thought I was going to pass out.
The lack of compassion was astounding.

Receptionist are shockingly rude, with the exception of 1 whose name I sadly can’t recall. Do better, have empathy otherwise leave the industry because it’s really quite dehumanising. I’ve never been treated in such an unimportant and dismissive manner before I came to this clinic. I hope you feel ashamed.

Frequently Asked Questions about General Practitioners in Adelaide
What does a general practitioner (GP) do?
A general practitioner (GP) provides a wide range of healthcare services, acting as a patient's first point of contact for medical needs. They offer preventative care, diagnose and treat illnesses, manage chronic conditions, provide health advice, and refer patients to specialists when necessary. Essentially, they are your primary healthcare provider for a variety of health concerns.
Why is it important to have a regular GP?
Having a regular GP allows for continuity of care. Your GP gets to know your medical history, lifestyle, and family history, enabling them to provide more personalized and effective care. This ongoing relationship allows for early detection of potential health problems and better management of existing conditions.
How do I find a GP in Adelaide that accepts new patients?
Finding a GP who accepts new patients involves several approaches. You can search online directories such as Medicare’s website, or use healthcare finders that allow you to filter by location and services offered. Local community groups or online forums can also be a valuable resource for recommendations.
What is Medicare, and how does it work with GP visits?
Medicare is Australia’s universal healthcare system. It helps Australians access affordable healthcare. With Medicare, you can claim a rebate for a portion of your GP visit fee. To be eligible, you need to have a valid Medicare card. Your GP will submit your claim electronically, and Medicare will reimburse you directly.
What is a bulk billing GP?
A bulk billing GP charges the government the full amount for the consultation, meaning the patient does not pay anything out-of-pocket. This system provides affordable access to healthcare, particularly for individuals facing financial constraints. However, not all GPs offer bulk billing, and it’s important to confirm before your appointment.
Can I choose any GP in Adelaide, or are there restrictions?
While you generally have the freedom to choose any GP in Adelaide, certain factors may influence your options. Many GPs prefer patients to live within a certain radius of their practice. Medicare also has some guidelines regarding access to certain services. It’s always wise to check with the practice before registering.
What should I expect during my first appointment with a new GP?
During your first appointment, expect a thorough medical history to be taken. The GP will ask about your past illnesses, surgeries, allergies, medications, and family history. They will also conduct a physical examination. Be prepared to answer questions openly and honestly to facilitate accurate assessment and personalized care.
What types of referrals can a GP provide?
A GP can provide referrals to a wide range of specialist medical professionals. This includes referrals to cardiologists, dermatologists, gastroenterologists, neurologists, and many others. A referral can often be required to access certain specialist services under Medicare.
What happens if I need to see a GP outside of regular clinic hours?
For medical care outside of regular clinic hours, several options are available. Some GP clinics offer after-hours appointments. Alternatively, you can contact a local after-hours medical service, or, in emergencies, visit an emergency department. It’s crucial to assess the urgency of your condition before seeking care.
How do I update my GP's medical records?
Keeping your GP’s records up-to-date is essential for accurate care. You can inform your GP of any changes to your medical history, medications, allergies, or contact details during appointments. Some practices may also offer online portals for patients to update their information. It is also important to share information about significant lifestyle changes.
