My daughter was about 9 or 10 months when she started here, back when it was Paisley Park and she was there right through and has now started school this year. We were so happy with the care given to her at Edge. When any concerns were had about things communication was very good and I was made to feel heard and it seemed to be taken on board. The educators are very friendly and the director Puja is extremely wholesome and welcoming and they all have the utmost care for your little ones and will make sure they’re taken well care of. Kerry the chef there curates and cooks a great range of balanced and fresh delicious foods for the kids and takes on suggestions and dietary needs or beliefs and make great alternatives to suit, as well as makes the effort to bond with the kids and talk with the parents as they walk through everyday. Was very happy leaving our daughter in their care for many years.

The staff at Port Adelaide Edge Early Learning have a genuine passion for working with young children. They are gentle and patient, and seem to collaborate well. They regularly host incursions and excursions that are current to the curriculum. Edge Port Adelaide have a range of current resources to suit all individual ages and stages. The environment is very clean and the communication between staff and parents is excellent. The chef on site is not only there preparing five-star meals, but she greets the children with a warm and welcoming approach. Kerry the chef considers cultural events throughout the year and sets up meal spaces and the menu to incorporate this. It has been a wonderful experience for my three children across the Nursery and Pre-Kinder Rooms. Puja is the director of the centre and cannot do enough to make sure that families feel a sense of belonging throughout their time at Edge, not just upon enrolment. Worth a tour!

My 11 month old son join in a month ago and he has settled quick and well. The educators and team leader in baby room is very accommodating and did their best to help my little one settle. Communication is great too. He is now comfortable and happy under their care. Everyone from the director, admin staff and educators are all friendly and welcoming, not just to the little one but to parents as well. Thank you for looking after little ones with care.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the entire team at Goodstart Underdale for the incredible support you’ve given my little one.
From the very beginning, she settled so well into the centre—something that wouldn’t have been possible without the warm, inclusive, and nurturing environment you’ve created.
I’m especially grateful for how her exceptional needs have been met with such care and consideration. It’s made a huge difference in our lives, and I truly can’t thank you enough.
Jayda, your leadership and the dedication of all the educators are deeply appreciated. We feel so lucky to be part of such a wonderful centre even though was a short period of time.

Really great centre. So welcoming and supportive of our little boy’s needs (in particular his allergies). Everyone, staff, educators are always kind, friendly and caring, and in the rooms they are always making sure kids have fun activities to learn from while enjoying their time there. Love seeing the photos and reading the stories at the end of day, and following my little boy’s routine for the day. We cannot thank you all enough for your care and dedication.

My daughter has been attending Goodstart Underdale for just under two years. I could not fault this centre in any way. My daughter has autism and is non verbal and the teaching staff have gone above and beyond to learn as much as they can and also work super hard to include her in everything. The teaching staff are absolutely lovely, they know all the parents and children by name and are so easy to deal with. The facilities are also great and my daughter loves all the activities she gets to do. Highly recommend!

Our second daughter and second Goodstart star. Both girls and parents have loved our time with Goodstart Underdale (both starting in the baby room)…. From reception staff to educators and directors, everyone has been amazing. Our first was there (almost) since the centres opening and 5 years on, we’re still enjoying the experience, the fun, the events and the teachings. Highly recommend!!!
PS… As a family with 2 Mums, we absolutely appreciate the extra love, gifts and cards on Mother’s Day.

We were so nervous as it’s his first time in daycare but the amazing team at Goodstart Underdale made this journey easy for us. The center is clean, welcoming and all the staff are so professional yet so warm. All the educators have been really kind and patient in helping our little one settle and provide very transparent communication. Shout out to Director Raj, Jayda, Maria, Peyton , Francesca and rest of the team(apologies if I missed some names), also thank you to Bianca for providing nutritious food for his dietary requirements!
We love getting his updates and photos on the app seeing him play and settle well. The absolute inclusiveness this center has with culture is by far the best we have seen.
Thank you for providing extremely warm nurturing environment for our little one and exceeding our expectations!

My son started at Goodstart Campbelltown when he was 14 months old & has now just turned 5 and is off to school. We have had a really positive experience with the centre and all the staff across all rooms. We are always greeted with a friendly hello and all the staff know my son making him feel at ease for the drop off’s. I really like the convenience of booking a casual day in via the app and have always appreciated how accommodating the staff have been with this. Amazing centre. The staff are really lovely and clearly care about the wellbeing of the children. It may not be the most impressive facility but they make up for it in the way they really lean in on the emotional-social development of the kids. The way they interact with the kids aligns with science-backed evidence linked to positive outcomes for behaviour. Seems to have relatively low staff turnover and longterm staff. Definitely recommend this centre.

My daughter has been here since she was 5 months old and she is now nearly 4. The team are absolutely delightful – skilled and caring. The environment is warm and welcoming. My daughter feels safe here and has developed good relationships in each year group as she has moved through the centre.
Even as an infant, I was pleasantly surprised at the ways the staff made sure my daughter was included in activities. I take off my hat to the kindy teachers who navigate toilet training and big emotions with grace and humour. We will be sad to go when school starts!

My son was here for almost 4 years, and I never once had a problem with any of the staff. Every single staff member was lovely, friendly, engaging and quite simply an angel walking on earth. Being able to send my son with a lunch box daily gave me complete control over his food intake which has also helped him grow into a skilled eater, as well as helping him to settle into school easily. Forever grateful to the wonderful staff at Goodstart Campbelltown

Edge Early Learning Plympton, unfortunately, appears to be experiencing significant challenges. It’s evident that a recent change in management and subsequent staff departures have deeply impacted the environment and the level of care provided. The loss of experienced educators has resulted in a noticeable decline in consistency and a reliance on temporary staff, which affects the overall stability and quality of the educational program.
Parents are understandably concerned about the lack of familiar faces and the decrease in individualized attention for their children. This creates a sense of unease and disrupts the comfort and security that a good early learning center should offer. Addressing the needs of the children and maintaining a positive and supportive atmosphere requires strong leadership and a commitment to fostering a connected community, something currently missing.

Customer Reviews
In June, my family went through a major life altering event and the love and community that edge provided was second to none. However, after a change in management and an exodus of key lead staff, the response from the centre has not been good enough and overshadowed the amount of good that came from the centre.
Obviously with such a large number of staff leaving, the backfill of agency/casual staff presence has increased. There’s no photos or introductions. They sit on their bums either doing absolutely nothing or engaging with 1 child while the room runs wild. There’s only 1-2 familiar faces and that is a lot of weight for those 1-2 people to carry when they are not supported by colleagues or management. Putting bums in seats to meet ratio simply is not good enough.
They deleted all the farewell posts from much loved staff members who have been there for our little humans, erasing all transparency and form of communication for us parents. These are leads that we love, our families love and have helped raise our babies.
2/3 of our kids have been enrolled into edge and we will be seeking care for our children elsewhere because it is evident they will need to rebuild the centre and the exodus of staff shows that there is no support or valuable guidance from management. They can’t even be bothered responding authentically to our emails of concern.
Things we love about edge:
The room leads but they’re either leaving or left
Milo and Milo’s food
Things we don’t love:
Everything else.
They have handled this so poorly and I would avoid Edge for at least a year til they get their ducks in a row because I’m not even sure they know that their ducks aren’t even ducks at this point.

Hard to know where to start. Our family has been going here for the last 3 years and up until about 3 weeks ago we had nothing but wonderful things to say about Edge Plympton and our daughter’s experience here, however since the change in management and the mass exodus in staff it
has become an absolute disaster.
Once an incredible and welcoming safe haven for our little daughter it has vastly become the place of nightmares.
From never wanting to leave the centre just a few weeks ago to crying in the carpark every morning during drop off because she doesn’t want to go anymore.
We enter the room and new faces everyday. Not even a hello, or how are you, it’s almost like dropping our child off is a huge inconvenience to the staff.
On a few occasions in the last 2 weeks our daughter has come home with a few bumps and grazes and on one occasion a cut on her arm so deep it was still bleeding. When addressed to the centre we were simply ignored. No responses to our emails and no call backs after several messages left. Simple zero accountability and care.
On pick up they can never find her water bottle and have lost several and on the days it is there it is empty. Are they refilling the water bottles? Our daughter quite often would drink a whole bottle of water in the car park on the way home so it would certainly make you wonder if she is getting enough to water to drink for the day.
When you think it couldn’t get any worse you receive an email at 9pm at night informing you that the centre has been forced to close by the Educations Standards Board for 2 weeks due to kids being left unsupervised. I can’t say I’m suprised as there’s barely an educator in sight during drop offs in the morning.
We will be removing our daughter from care here which breaks our heart cause she has made so many friendships and bonds with other kids in her age group but we simply can’t take the risk as our daughters safety and wellbeing are more important than anything else and unfortunately as a parent I feel genuinely worried about the risks apparent at this facility.
To the absolutely fantastic educators that have been forced to leave we thank you for all your hard work and dedication and we will always remember the wonderful experiences shared with you and if this is what senior management is like then leaving was the best choice for you all because you all truly deserve better.

Edge Early Learning Plympton has been amazing for our family. This was our son Amod’s first time going to childcare, and the staff made the transition so smooth and comforting. The facility is clean, well-organised, and filled with engaging activities for the children. His teacher has been taking such wonderful care of him, and we can truly see how happy and settled he feels. We are very thankful for their dedication and warmth, and we strongly recommend Edge Early Learning Plympton to all parents looking for a safe and nurturing environment for their children.

☆ 5/5
Our family has been at Edge Early Learning Plympton for almost 3 years, and what was once an incredible, safe, and nurturing centre has now been destroyed under the leadership of the new area manager.
Since she stepped into management, long-standing, well-loved educators — the very people our children trusted and felt safe with — have been pushed out. Around eight key staff have left, leaving families heartbroken and children’s circle of security shattered. The bonds that made this centre feel like a second home no longer exist. A disingenuous hello in the morning, and a ‘I can’t be bothered with you’ bye in the afternoon is now all that’s received, if we’re lucky to have someone present.
The culture has shifted to one of secrecy, poor communication, and zero accountability. Emails go unanswered, phone calls are ignored, and parents are left in the dark about major incidents — including an emergency action notice issued by the Education Standards Board after a child was left alone in a classroom. We had to hear about this from other parents, not the centre itself. That is appalling. Since then, our children have come home with scratches and marks with no explanation, no incident report, nothing. The inconsistency’s, lack of transparency, and attempts to minimise or obscure the truth, are completely shocking and unacceptable. In my opinion, the centre prioritised internal processes and their own interests, over the wellbeing of the child in their care. This is simply not good enough.
On top of that, multiple agency staff walk in and out without proper introductions; a solution posed due to the restriction to have proper staff as our original staff were labelled as ‘replaceable.’ Children’s artwork has been removed, educators’ farewell posts deleted, and the centre’s beloved bird Coco — a huge part of the children’s daily lives — has simply disappeared with no explanation.
Her dismissive, smug approach to families’ concerns has destroyed what was once a beautiful community built on trust, transparency, and love. The service now feels unsafe, cold, and unwelcoming. We’ve made the devastating decision to remove our children, because their safety and wellbeing must come first.
For anyone considering this service don’t be fooled by the previously positive posts, what once I would have said is a 5 star centre who I recommended to all, now I would strongly caution other families before enrolling.
To the incredible educators who were forced out — you will never be forgotten. You were the heart of this centre, and our children are better for having been loved by you. That they can never take away from us.
Edge head office should be paying close attention, because of the people you have entrusted to do the right thing have only cause heartache and pain and this is what she has done to this centre is devastating, and families current and future deserve far better.

I cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible team at Edge Early Learning . As a parent, finding the right environment for your child, especially one who experiences serious separation anxiety like my daughter Maya, can be a daunting task. After trying several places, Edge was the perfect choice for us.
From day one, the educators have been nothing short of superstars. They have gone above and beyond to make Maya’s transition as smooth as possible, providing her with the comfort and support she needs. Their patience, understanding, and dedication have truly made a world of difference in her experience.
Maya is still finding it challenging at times, but knowing she is in such capable and caring hands gives me immense peace of mind. The staff at Edge Early Learning have created a nurturing and safe environment where Maya feels valued and understood, which has been instrumental in helping her adjust.
I highly recommend Edge Early Learning to any parent who is struggling to find a place where their child will be safe and well-cared-for. Thank you, Edge, for being such a wonderful part of our journey!

Was a fantastic centre until new management came. There has been a mass exodus of staff due to mistreatment from management, poor communication to families, reportable incidences that have not been told to families and so much more. Our poor children are the ones suffering as they don’t know who the adults are in their rooms and their friendships are breaking as families are leaving. I am so disappointed.

We cannot speak highly enough of the nurturing, care and support provided to our children by the staff and educators at Goodstart Payneham. The centre is led by a fantastic leadership team who are warm, accommodating and excellent with their communication. Many of the staff have been there for years which speaks to the excellent culture within the centre which filters down from leadership to educators and staff to the children. We were particularly impressed with the “family feel” that we experienced and continue to experience through the Goodstart Payneham community. The educators run an excellent program and our children have learned so much during their days at the centre. They love attending and have formed such strong connections with both peers and staff members alike. If you’re looking for a warm, nurturing, supportive ELC with a strong community feel, you can certainly trust Jess and her team at Goodstart Payneham!

Heartfelt Review for Goodstart Payneham:
We couldn’t be more grateful to the wonderful team at Goodstart Payneham for the exceptional care they’ve provided for our children. Our second son recently started to attend this center, he received nothing but the best attention, and we knew this place as our first child attended a few years ago.
Unfortunately, our previous attempt at a different childcare center didn’t go well. Our little one had a hard time settling in and adjusting to the new environment, which caused us a lot of concern. However, at Goodstart Payneham, the transition was smooth and seamless, thanks to the incredible dedication and care from the educators.
The staff went above and beyond to ensure that our child was comfortable and happy. They understood the extra attention he needed to settle in and made sure he felt secure and loved. Their personalized approach truly made all the difference.
As parents, we were naturally anxious about leaving our child in someone else’s care. But Jess and the team were reassuring every step of the way. They kept us informed, provided updates, and genuinely cared about our child’s wellbeing. Jess, in particular, was amazing, consistently ensuring us that he was in good hands. Her kindness and professionalism made a world of difference in easing our anxiety.
We highly recommend Goodstart Payneham to any parent.

We couldn’t be happier with the care and support our kids receive at Goodstart Payneham. All three of our daughters have attended this centre, from nursery through to kindy. The Payneham team are incredible and are just like family to us. They’re dedicated educators who ensure a nurturing, safe, clean and stimulating environment for all the kids. Chef Dave creates delicious meals that our girls love and they often have events/incursions organised. Our daughters partake in ‘Happy Feet’ dance classes at the centre every Tuesday. We receive frequent photos and updates throughout the day on the app. I love knowing we can drop our girls off and head to work without a worry about how they’ll be cared for – they’re in excellent hands and have so much fun!

My son started Goodstart Payneham since he was 5 months old (full-time) in the nursery room. All the educators and admin staff are fantastic and amazing. They are so supportive and patient and we’ve been received millions of advice throughout my son’s development journey. It has great environment and learning facilities, children can play safely in the huge backyard, and my son loves planting and eating vegetables (cherry tomatoes, particularly in summer) from the garden. And he also loves nutritious lunch freshly cooked by chef, Dave. Plus many more!
He started Kindergarten program here this term for 5 days and he absolutely enjoys what he learns everyday. We can clearly see his happiness and maturity which is thankfully encouraged and supported by beautiful team.
I strongly recommend Goodstart Payneham to every parents, especially young families just like us.

My child was here for 1.5 years, and this was the first time he was away from us during the day. The staff navigated the initial days very well, and he adjusted pretty quickly, and he even wanted to go to school on Sundays 🙂 He would share everything he would do at school and would try things out of similar nature at home as well, like making the soup he had for lunch.
Well-experienced staff with multicultural backgrounds, very helpful and flexible with amendments. Would highly recommend City West CCC, such a great place for the little ones to explore and grow. Thank you City West educators and staff for the wonderful service you are providing! Keep it up <3

Lovely childcare centre – have experienced every room now -from baby to preschool. Low turnover rate of staff who all care and pay attention to the wellbeing and development of the children. There are a lot of siblings across the centre and has a multicultural focus. Nutritious food cooked for the centre children, and opportunity for little ones to explore cooking, arts and lots of learning through play and opportunities to explore independence and risky play. Flexible on additional day requests too. Cute garden and great communal play area. Thorough centre policies which help ensure consistency of care.

The kids look forward to the daily adventures at City West.

We have been attending City West for almost 2 years now and absolutely love it. I really like the layout with a common area outside for all the kids to play. It works really well and allows the children to interact with others outside their class. It’s very obvious they City West embraces multiculturalism and enjoy celebrating global customs with families. Staff turnover here is very low, making it a very stable environment for the little ones. Staff are fantastic and my child has made some very strong connections. I always feel like my child is in good hands when I leave him and he really enjoys it here too. There are always plenty of organise activities to keep everyone entertained and busy, wheather they are making structures out of boxes, dancing, singing, reading books or exploring new textures. My 2yo had taught me many a song including sing a rainbow, baby shark, rainbow butterfly and most recently A Ram Sam Sam! I can’t rave enough about how much we enjoy coming here and would highly recommend it to anyone.

In our experience, this has been the best childcare that our little 2 YO has been to. We had to move to Adelaide for a couple of weeks, and I was soo worried to find a good childcare for our son, but I contacted the team, went for an inspection and in the same week he was in. No waiting list, the team really cares about each kids needs and help them with their development. It’s very multicultural and friendly. We won’t hesitate to recommend this centre, because it’s very good.

We love City Community Childcare! My daughter adores her educators and enjoys her daycare days. It’s a smaller centre, all of the staff are lovely and my daughter is thriving. We did a lot of tours before choosing a centre and this one felt right- over the last year we have been very happy with our choice

Highly recommend! My daughter initially started at another centre, but I felt the groups were too large and things often seemed chaotic, with quieter kids being forgotten. I toured City Community Children’s Centre and instantly felt the difference – the atmosphere was calmer, with smaller groups meaning more engaged educators and children.
My daughter started here at 7 months old (she is now 2.5 years old) and is absolutely thriving! She knows all of the educators and other children by name (as well as most of the parents) and loves the different activities they do each day.
Things I love about the centre:
– Smaller groups, meaning more individualised care (not a one-size-fits-all approach)
– Beautiful rooms with enormous variety of interactive age-appropriate toys and activities (something different every day!)
– Lovely outdoor spaces with lots of shade
– Happy, engaged and experienced educators, many of whom have worked at the centre for 10+ years
– Highly engaged and experienced director – Debbie is frequently in the rooms with the children and is always available for questions/concerns
– Healthy meals cooked on site
– Focus on sustainability and involving the kids in activities – i.e. gardening, compost bin with worms, older kids help set up and clean up plates for meals
– Off-street parking for safe pick up/drop offs.

I would always say this is a hidden “gem” in the city. This center offers quality care for every child. The number of children they have provides an opportunity to build and develop secure relationships with their educators and teachers. Families are happy. It’s very easy to arrange days of care. I love how children are involved in their sustainable practices. I always recommend this center!

I highly recommend this childcare centre. They have smaller groups, and low staff turnover, so our kids made solid bonds with their teachers and the other kids, leading to some lovely friendships. The food is great, so our kids were always well fed when we picked them up. The staff are genuinely caring and professional and offer an actual education, not just ‘child-minding’.

In simple words – it’s a hidden gem. I’m glad I found it. My daughter started here as a toddler and I was a single working mother. I would say I got the best support from educators and management in caring my child. She really loves to go there, how she wouldn’t with such dedicated educators? They are amazing and many of them are longtimers. It is a community based, non-profit child care service operating for more than 30 years. I leave to work with peace that my child is in best hands. Knowing them for 4 years, I can say if you want experienced, high level care for your kid, this is the place.

Can’t recommend highly enough!

Frequently Asked Questions about Child Care Centres in Adelaide
What age ranges do child care centres in Adelaide typically cater to?
Most child care centres in Adelaide accept children from birth up to school age, generally around four or five years old. However, the specific age range can vary between centres, with some specialising in infant care (0-2 years) or preschool programs (3-5 years). It’s important to check the centre's website or contact them directly to confirm their accepted age ranges.
How are child care centres regulated in Adelaide?
Child care centres in Adelaide are heavily regulated by the South Australian Education Department and adhere to the National Quality Framework (NQF). This framework ensures a certain standard of safety, education, and care for all children. Regular inspections and assessments are conducted to verify compliance with these regulations, and centres are assigned a rating based on their performance.
What qualifications do child care educators need?
All child care educators working in Adelaide centres must hold at least a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. Many hold higher qualifications, such as a Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education. Educators also require a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) and are regularly involved in professional development to maintain their skills and knowledge.
What is the difference between a long day care, a family day care, and a preschool?
A long day care offers care for children for extended hours, typically from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. Family day care involves care provided in a home-like environment by an approved educator. A preschool focuses primarily on providing early childhood education, often with a shorter operating schedule and a curriculum designed to prepare children for school. Each option offers a different level of flexibility and educational focus.
How do I choose the right child care centre for my child?
Choosing a child care centre is a personal decision. Consider your child's individual needs and personality. Visit several centres, observe the interactions between educators and children, and ask about their curriculum, philosophy, and safety procedures. Trust your instincts and choose a centre where you feel comfortable leaving your child.
What are the fees typically associated with child care in Adelaide?
Fees for child care in Adelaide can vary significantly depending on the type of centre, the hours of care required, and the age of the child. Generally, long day care is the most expensive option, while family day care may be more affordable. The Australian Government provides Child Care Subsidy (CCS), which helps reduce the financial burden for many families. Contact the centre directly for specific pricing details.
What is the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) and how do I apply?
The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a government payment that helps eligible families with the cost of child care. Eligibility criteria are based on factors such as income and employment status. You can apply for CCS through the MyGov website and link your child care provider. Further information and eligibility criteria are available on the Services Australia website.
What are the safety procedures in place at Adelaide child care centres?
Adelaide child care centres have strict safety procedures in place to protect children. These include secure entry and exit systems, emergency evacuation plans, first aid qualified staff, and regular safety drills. Centres also have policies regarding medication administration, allergy management, and incident reporting. It's advisable to ask about these protocols during your visit.
What is the staff-to-child ratio?
The staff-to-child ratio is a crucial factor in ensuring adequate supervision and individual attention. Regulations in Adelaide dictate the required ratios based on the age group of the children. For example, for infants (0-12 months), the ratio is typically 1:4, while for preschool children (3-5 years), it's often 1:11. Verify a centre’s ratios to ensure your child will receive the appropriate level of care.
How can I be sure the centre follows a child-led approach?
A child-led approach to learning allows children to explore their interests and learn at their own pace. Look for evidence of this at the centre: flexible routines, opportunities for free play, educators who observe and respond to children's cues, and a curriculum that encourages exploration and discovery. Ask the educators how they support child-led learning and how they allow children to make choices.
