I am sharing this review to warn other healthcare professionals, especially agency staff, about my experience at Southern Cross Care Fullarton. Upon arrival for my kitchen hand shift, I was surprised to learn that the facility was dealing with a major COVID-19 outbreak affecting more than 10-15 residents. At no stage was this information communicated to me beforehand. Agency staff deserve to be fully informed of such critical health risks before accepting a shift, and withholding this information raises serious concerns about staff safety and transparency. During my shift, I kept my interactions limited to the kitchen team and had a brief, friendly conversation with a nurse I knew from a previous workplace. Shortly after, a senior staff member(CN) approached me and told me to "shut up," claiming I was being too loud. This came across as unnecessarily aggressive and unprofessional, particularly as I was not on the care floor and not disrupting anyone’s work. I immediately apologized and lowered my voice. Following this, I was suddenly reassigned from Food Service to dishwashing without any clear explanation. Later, I was surprised to hear that a formal complaint had been made against me to the agency alleging I was "sarcastic and rude." This does not reflect my conduct during the shift, and I believe there are serious communication issues within the management team that need to be addressed. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage Southern Cross Care management to: Improve transparency by informing agency staff about COVID-positive cases before they arrive Ensure all staff, including agency workers, are treated professionally and respectfully Review internal communication processes to prevent misunderstandings that escalate into unnecessary formal complaints. Would never ever Think of working there again .
Well managed, very dedicated, kind staff and a lively happy place to live with many activities organised if you wish to do them.
Grandpa lived his final few months in Fullarton Residential Care. He was well cared for, and he loved the staff. We were very happy with the attention given to grandpa, the amount of love shown to him, and our whole family.
