I recently had the pleasure of visiting UnitingSA Wesley House Aged Care and was thoroughly impressed with the facility. The recently re-developed building is modern and eco-friendly, and even received an ‘Award for Excellence in Aged Living Design’ at the Aged & Community Services SA&NT Awards☺️
The vibrant community of 168 residents enjoys modern living areas, beautiful sun-filled courtyards and an on-site cafe where they can socialize with family and friends. The staff is friendly and attentive, providing 24-hour care and allied health services such as physiotherapy, podiatry, and dietetics. There is also a secure memory support unit for residents with dementia❤️
One of the highlights of my visit was seeing the ultra-realistic dog statues scattered throughout the facility. They were so lifelike that I had to do a double-take to make sure they weren’t real! It added a touch of humor and whimsy to the already welcoming atmosphere

I can’t say enough how great our Penwood experience was.My mum spent 7 weeks there after taking a fall. The facility was great it was big and clean the food was great . The staff treated mum so well . her room was modern and huge with a view and a bench seat directly outside in a secure tranquil setting. Pennwood keep the Fantastic work up because most other facilities are quite bad ,never let this happen to you .The Staff on all levels were very nice and eager to help they made mums stay as great as it could be in her situation . They also welcomed the family always asked would you this or would you like that . Mum said they deserve a 5 Star rating and she strongly recommends anyone to go there. We are now in July 2021, the professionalism through Covid is outstanding. We have received updates immediately as changes are being made by the Government and Health Authorities. The care and comfort of the Residents is in very safe hands. Also with the Home Care, Carers make sure we are understanding and following instructions; Make sure we are in good mental health and help with our concerns.
We have experienced Pennwood, through Respites, and Permanent Care over a long period, beginning in 2016. The staff are so professional and caring. We also have used their Home Care which has been very helpful. It is a beautiful place and accommodation is very comfortable, the food is very good and varied made on the premises.

Most of the staff are friendly and kind, if a little overworked. The facilities are a little better than average for an aged care home and the facility is affordable, whilst most residents are also very friendly. There are also regular events to entertain residents, which helps to break up would oftentimes be a monotonous day.
The meals could be of better quality but again, they are part of an affordable service and the staff are overworked; always rushing about, delivering meals to residents rooms. It must be a great burden on the cook. Plus, the facility provides respite care, easing strain on the health system and I appreciate that service.

Mum moved into Bupa Enfield in May 2025 & it was apparent from day one of her residency that it was absolutely the right thing for her to do. The improvements to her confidence and mobility were instantaneous, due to the exceptional care, consideration & professionalism of all of the wonderful staff at the facility. She is being treated with courtesy and respect, encouraged to participate in activities but also being given the grace to be her own person in her own space if that is what she wants. As a family, we have all been able to breathe easier knowing that her days of insecurity and isolation at home alone are over, and that she is now being looked after by a team of exceptional humans. They are over charging my mother in law and if she can’t pay they will come after us and put my family in debt all she gets paid is 1 thousand and 47 dollars per fortnight yet they expect over 2 thousand her bank account is over drawn because of these people disgusting well they have now taken over 4 thousand in one month and my mother inlaw has received a dishonour fee from the bank they have gotten her into debt so we will be taking her out of there and seeking legal advice

It is a beautiful place. The staff are always friendly. Every fortnight when I see my pop,they always have a smile on their face. They had a blackout the other week and they where able to solve their problem straight away. It been the best ageing care place I been to. My dad loves living at Carinya! At first, he was scared & upset – such a big change – but deep down he knew he couldn’t live on his own anymore. Delighted we have finalised my Mother’s home-from-home at Carinya! After going through a ‘minefield’ with Mum needing to transition to residential care, we feel so fortunate. Mum now has a beautiful room with all her needs taken care of and meals are amazing. I’ve done my age care course placement there, and I just have good things to say! The environment is friendly and the workers are incredible lovely. They love what they do. The residents have love and care all the time. The food is delicious and everything is completely clean and tidy. If, one day I need to leave my parents in a nursing home, for sure would be there.

I am sharing this review to warn other healthcare professionals, especially agency staff, about my experience at Southern Cross Care Fullarton.
Upon arrival for my kitchen hand shift, I was surprised to learn that the facility was dealing with a major COVID-19 outbreak affecting more than 10-15 residents. At no stage was this information communicated to me beforehand. Agency staff deserve to be fully informed of such critical health risks before accepting a shift, and withholding this information raises serious concerns about staff safety and transparency.
During my shift, I kept my interactions limited to the kitchen team and had a brief, friendly conversation with a nurse I knew from a previous workplace. Shortly after, a senior staff member(CN) approached me and told me to “shut up,” claiming I was being too loud. This came across as unnecessarily aggressive and unprofessional, particularly as I was not on the care floor and not disrupting anyone’s work. I immediately apologized and lowered my voice.
Following this, I was suddenly reassigned from Food Service to dishwashing without any clear explanation. Later, I was surprised to hear that a formal complaint had been made against me to the agency alleging I was “sarcastic and rude.” This does not reflect my conduct during the shift, and I believe there are serious communication issues within the management team that need to be addressed.
Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage Southern Cross Care management to:
Improve transparency by informing agency staff about COVID-positive cases before they arrive
Ensure all staff, including agency workers, are treated professionally and respectfully
Review internal communication processes to prevent misunderstandings that escalate into unnecessary formal complaints.

My experience with St Anna have been SHOCKING to say the least. They mismanaged my mums HCP and left a disabled woman with no bedside commode. no shower commode for at least 2 months. even when mum had the funding i had to beg and cry for St Anna to act. when they did bring a shower commode out, it was used, stained with blood and faeces.. When I was forced to contact the Aged Care quality and safety commission. They were not happy at all and did their best to have me removed from mums care. They even went a far as putting in a false complaint to the department that deals with elderly abuse. After the call was investigated that department came to the conclusion that the call was made out of spite and it seemed that someone was angry at me. SPOT ON!!!! EVEN THEY PICKED UP ON IT. This was the work of St Anna. St Anna claim that elderly safety and well being come first in their policy, but they totally destroyed any dignity mum had left. Her pain and suffering took its toll. They instilled fear in my mum and her anxiety went through the roof. They claimed I was the aggressor. LIES!!!! They manipulate their records/ documents to substantiate those lies. They have ignored mums complaints and instead have decided to kick her out even though my mum has done absolutely nothing wrong. I’m confident in writing this review as none of it is a lie. The way they treated mum was disgusting. they forgot she lost her legs, not her mind. they were treating her like a
dementia patient. What’s even more concerning is that the more they try to cover mums pain and suffering with their lies, the more they stuff up. This was when they manipulated mums monthly records to suit those lies, and got caught out by the real records that I’m keeping. To hide the fact that mum suffered, waiting for a shower commode they have on record that they paid for that commode on the 10th of July. This would mean that mum did not have to wait at all, for a shower commode. but true records reveal that I didn’t not walk into the shop till the 11th of July and receipt showing the commode was paid on the 18th. I do know falsifying records is an offence. St Anna have proven to be corrupt by doing this. We thought this home care package funding was supposed to keep the elderly home. ST Anna abused mums HCP funding. and then had the audacity to suggest we put mum in a nursing home for some respite for her carers. while the money was raised for a mattress. What St Anna failed to acknowledge was that her carers/ family are not suffering because we are struggling to cope with mum DISABILITY we are all suffering because mum did not have the necessary equipment to use at home as a disabled person 2 months of being bed ridden. we still had nothing to transport mum to the bathroom and toilet. By the time we got her to the toilet ( no bedside commode) she would soil herself. This went on for two months before any action was taken. the money was available too, which is why i don’t understand the delay. would I recommend St Anna to anyone. NO. NEVER. NOT IF YOU LOVE YOUR PERSON. It’s not a company that takes seriously, the needs of the elderly. try cutting into their profits and they will make sure that you pay for it by firstly attacking your character then your sanity. This is my review based on fact and I stand by it 200% actually 400%

My Grandma tried this facility out as a respite resident, with a view to becoming a permanent resident. She was desperately unhappy there. Residents were not allowed to go outside to the gardens, not even to be taken outside by staff. I visited regularly, and the same Elvis movie played on the community area television constantly. Organised activities were few and far between. Grandma had several falls while she was there, and staff failed to contact me about them. St Anna’s seems poorly staffed. My Grandma developed an infection which led to memory problems and low mood. St Anna’s decided that she was a problem and asked her to leave.At no stage during the lead up to this decision did they tell any family members that there were problems, or try to find a solution. Instead, when family were there, bringing her items from home, the manager pulled them aside and said that she would have to leave by the end of the week. When she did leave they forgot to send her medications with her to the next home, and they continued to charge the Chemist for medications even weeks later, when she was no longer there.
A friend has her mother there, she says that her mother has become so depressed that she now refuses to leave her bed at all.
The home was clean, that’s the best that I can say about it.
Moving out of St Anna’s turned out to be a blessing, she is now in a place that is as different from St Anna’s as night is from day. Now she has constant activities, proper care and stimulation for her body and mind.

As an engineer I went to the facility to inspect the ceiling structures. The management responses quickly while they observed some ceiling cracks and concerned the safety for the residents. Very clean environment and friendly staff.

Mother in law was cared for by St Basil St Peters for nearly 5 years. We loved everything about this place. Food is excellent, fresh and nutritious, before COVID we were able to eat in with her. Management and staff were all so dedicated and responsive. Only 36 residents on 2 floors so very personal and quite homely. We would love to go here if we needed care but don’t think we could afford it by then.

Jill (welcoming agent) Angie (care manager) very unprofessional employees of St Basils St PETERS…..do not let them interview fellow employees as they ask very, very unprofessional questions and they inform you of the jokes they have played on older residents – such as telling them they are the owners and they run the show. Not professional, nor is it funny at all.
