Good service and meals were served quickly. Quantity was great, plenty of sauce. Seafood was a little on small side, for example small bugs and prawns but as it’s seasonal I guess that’s expected and I am from Queensland so expectations were high. We had a nice nice still

What a great spot for seafood lovers! The seafood with Kajun gravy is absolutely delicious, and they even offer a gift on your birthday which is such a nice touch. Definitely worth a visit!

I tried the mixed bag for the first time yesterday, and I was thoroughly satisfied. I went with the Sha-bang sauce at a mild spice level, and it was flavorful without being too greasy or fishy. We couldn’t quite finish the mixed bag since it was just the two of us, but we thought the portion size would be perfect for about three adults to enjoy a filling meal.
The staff were friendly and welcoming, always smiling and happy to explain the menu in detail. I asked for a mallet to crack the crab shells, but they kindly explained that none were available at the time and apologized sincerely. Thanks to their service, we were still able to end our meal on a good note. (I ended up taking the crab home and enjoyed it later!)
I’m definitely planning to come back soon to try a different sauce next time.
P.S. If there’s a way to manage the restroom odor on the first floor, it would really elevate the overall dining experience — we were seated at a table relatively close to the restroom and could occasionally notice the smell.

We had in general a good dining experience. We came in for the $99 seafood bag deal. The shrimps, pipis were fresh, the blue swimmers were kinda okay but that’s expected eating at a seafood chain restaurant. Sauce was a bit salty to my taste. Staffs were friendly and very helpful.

A novel experience but very crowed and noisy… quantity over quality but still was good to do it once. Is recommend it for a once off… in saying that we went on the busy night as there is the platter at a cheaper price so maybe other nights might feel different

Food was absolutely amazing!! The sauce omg delicious. We went with someone who doesn’t eat seafood and ordered chicken well he ended up trying the seafood and he loved it! My son has been begging to come for so long and glad I didn’t make him wait any longer. We’ll definitely be back thanks again. Service was great also x

If you love seafood and don’t mind getting your hands dirty — this is the place to be!
We had the messiest (in the best way!) seafood feast. No cutlery, just gloves, aprons, and good vibes. The food was packed with flavour.
And if it’s your birthday month, you get a FREE Shrimp Martini (such a cute surprise!).
Perfect spot for birthdays, group dinners, or just something different. Highly recommend giving it a go!

I’ve been to Louca’s once before and it was fantastic then and still is now.
We were lucky enough to dine on the first day of their new seasonal menu and tried a few of the dishes. All were sublime.
The halloumi and the octopus were both delicious as were the mains of the lamb and prawn pappardelle.
Added highlight of the day was our very friendly and professional waitress… unfortunately we didn’t get her name but it was so nice being served by her

Our new favourite. The fresh oysters and seafood chowder were amazing, not to mention the bread that accompanied the chowder. The prawns and mussels were cooked to perfection. I do wish it was served a little hotter. Lovely restaurant and so happy it wasn’t another seafood restaurant with battered and fried fish.

My first time dining at Sammy’s on the Marina with family, and we wanted to try all the seafood. Cindy recommended the Deluxe Platter, and it was absolutely amazing. we loved it so much that we finished everything on the plate! The seafood ink pasta was delicious, and the oysters were incredibly fresh too. Cindy also suggested a great red wine to pair with our meal, and it turned out to be perfect.
She was very attentive throughout, making sure we ordered the right amount of food because we afraid we might ordered too much. Thanks to her recommendations, our dining experience was even more enjoyable. We will definitely be coming back again!

I recently had pleasure dining in Sammys on the Marina. The restaurant was at the most beautiful beach in Adelaide. Whole atmosphere was amazing with the sunset, ocean, and the beach. The staff was excellent as well, accomodating my request for birthday with no issues, and I really appreciate it.
The food was delicious. Fish was fresh and the calamari was super tender and melting in the mouth. A bit different I thought, the dip for chips was curried, and the cream pasta had small fresh tomato pieces, which I just never seen. Don’t get me wrong, it was yummy but a bit different.
Overall we had great experience, nice and smiley staff, beautiful atmosphere and good food – They even gave us dessert – the most delicious chocolate mousse with happy birthday written in chocolate sauce!! I really enjoyed it.

Everything was good — friendly service, tasty starters, and solid mains. The lamb shank and fish and chips were decent, though not the best we’ve had. But the fish of the day was absolutely next level — beautifully presented and hands down the most delicious fish we’ve ever had. Well done!

My partner and I visited Sammy’s on the Marina for our anniversary dinner recently. The service provided by Prachi and Paula Camila was excellent. They paid attention to small details, noting it was our special occasion and surprising us with a thoughtful anniversary gesture.
The food portions were quite generous. However, I found the oysters weren’t of the highest quality I’ve experienced. Despite this minor drawback, the overall dining experience was pleasant.
I enjoyed our evening at Sammy’s and would definitely return for another meal.

We arrived in Adelaide on Sunday afternoon, looked for a good easy and close to where we were staying for dinner, after arriving at the local surf club which was our first choice, turned about to be the wrong place for us with it being full to the rafters and our booked table already occupied.
We found online Secrets of the Sea, rang them and they said to come straight away and they would find us a table.
Arrived to a warm welcome and taken straight to our table. We ordered the Moreton Bay bugs and the Beef and reef. Both dishes were cooked to perfection and so so delicious.
Desert was OK but still didn’t disappoint.
If your on the West Beach area, make the effort to go.

A very nice and welcoming restaurant on the outside and inside. I had half a dozen kilpatrick oysters as an entree, they were cooked to perfection and a sensational flavour. For the main meal I had Moreton Bay Bugs 5 halves, very tasty and cooked well. The mini potatoes that came with them were the best potatoes I’ve ever had, the salad was fresh with the marinade that was to die for. Highly recommended and I will be going back

A fantastic place to enjoy a stunning beach view while having some satisfying food. I started with the Mornay Oysters, followed by the Garlic Prawns for my main course, and both were spot on. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was just right. Such a perfect spot to spend some time and relax.

This restaurant has the making of a really nice fine dining seafood restaurant but there’s just something about it that falls short. The service staff were lovely but very slow and not at all proactive, drinks service took a long time. The atmosphere is odd, fine dining feels with football on all the TVs. It’s not awful but also, not what we expected from the vibes of the website and menu. Mussel pot was very good!

Relaxed, seaside vibes. Quality seafood. It was a rainy, Autumn evening and the place was warm and welcoming. The owner and waiter where both friendly. The attmosphere was casual, all guests seemed comfortable. I indulged in eating solo, and was a bit apprehensive ahead of time, but so glad I dared. It was worth it. Will definitely be returning.

The staff were nice, but the food fell short of expectations. On arrival, I was told mussels were sold out, so I ordered something else, only to be told rice was also unavailable. Then I was told the chef would try to make the marinara I originally wanted, which was confusing given the mussels were supposedly sold out. I was grateful they tried to accommodate me, but when I tasted the mussels they seemed off. I tried two to be sure and they definitely didn’t taste fresh. I stopped eating in case of food poisoning and informed the staff. I overheard them tell the chef, but they returned saying the mussels were fine. I was shocked! I’ve had mussels before and the taste was not normal. I trusted my instincts and left them uneaten. The pasta also tasted very bitter and watery. I actually liked the fried barramundi but the dish wasn’t very filling. I paid $75 for two dishes, which sadly didn’t feel worth it. I hope the restaurant takes greater care with food quality, as selling spoiled seafood could be a serious safety hazard.

We dined at SheShells when staying one night in Glenelg on the way home to Sydney. It was a great choice. Friendly service from Nathan and Hani and we had the pleasure of meeting the owner Mary Jane too. We enjoyed the super fresh salads almost as much as the fresh, perfectly cooked seafood. Scallops, dukkah spiced sashimi, flounder and flathead were all very good. To top it off, the creme caramel was sublime. Definitely recommend this place.

I came here on 3rd of May during the evening (I’m from Sydney) and had the salt and pepper calamari, scallops and my friend had the mussels, crème brûlée. It was UNBELIEVABLY delicious!!!!!!!! SO SO SO YUMM. A 5 star rating doesn’t do it justice, it’s more like infinitely exceptional! The host that night had the most amazing customer service I have ever encountered, he is made for success with that incredible charisma. Now that I’m back in Sydney, I have been trying to find a similar experience/taste of the food from SheShells but turns out NOTHING compares to them, they are truely unique and the very best restaurant!

I am absolutely blown away from the moment of making the booking.
Speaking with Nathan he was so attentive to helping me find the place to start our evening.
Then with a wonderful greeting.
This place has a wonderful warm atmosphere in spring. Such a lovely place the interior is lovely and so related to the sea.
Then we were blown away by the food we ordered . We had the seashell basket with crumbed Garfield fish as your selection of fish to choose.
I must say you need to know how to fillet at garnish and the chef so nailed this.
The quality of the seafood is so clean, so flavoursome and the right portions.
We will be coming back again and again.
We 100 percent recommend this beautiful hidden secret.
I say bring on @hellosa you need to try this.
You wont be dossapointed.

Set in the awesome Adelaide Markets this was a proper breakfast winner.
The young chef nailed everything as you sit at the bar watching him craft your food.
The scrambled eggs were beautiful accompanied with smoked salmon and grilled toast with oil.
The Prawn and Crab chowder was perfect. Not fishy, beautiful sauce and perfect size.
The puff pastry was delicate and melted in your mouth.
The drinks dude absolutely nailed the bloody Mary’s . Just exceptional.
Great experience and beautiful food.
Must try if you like that sort of thing.

The experience was nice, I was able to sit outside under a a glass roof. The service was fast. Soon after I ordered and paid for my food I received it. The fish and chips 2 pieces was fried hard along with the chips. I didn’t taste much on the seasoning except for the lettuce with the balsamic vinegar on it. The mussels were a bit on the bland side and did require a little salt. The tomato base sauce didn’t add to the taste to help any. I did notice that they are hit or miss. Others got better meal offered that wasn’t local.

The food were very delicious,we had the beef rib and Garlic Prawn pasta, very nice and good balance as well. Awesome experience. Bloody Mary for breakfast is totally the way to go and the coffee chaser with being given the extra in the jug too. Perfection.
Fried eggs were slightly over done for my liking but that it personal preference.
Fig and passionfruit oysters are a lovely sweet ending.
Wish they were open for dinner because we’d 100% come back. But thats market hours.

TL;DR: Beautiful decor and good food, but service left a lot to be desired.
We had high hopes for our evening, but it turned out to be a mixed experience.
Starting with the positives: the booking website is straightforward and easy to use. You can specify the occasion and dietary requirements, and even upload a photo of yourself, which, as the website claims, should help the staff identify and greet you upon arrival. However, this promise fell short. Not only did they fail to recognise us or acknowledge my wife’s birthday (which I had noted on the booking page), but it was clear they hadn’t read any of the details we provided, which raises concerns about whether dietary requirements are being noted either.
When we arrived, we were seated fairly quickly but waited for around 10 minutes without any service – not even a food menu. Eventually, the manager approached and asked what the occasion was, proving that our booking notes had gone unread. I then asked our waiter for more information about the “feed me” menu options, and to my surprise, he wasn’t familiar with the choices and had to consult the manager.
As for the food, it was good overall, though not outstanding. We chose the “feed me” option and particularly enjoyed the brisket, which was tender and full of flavour. However, we were disappointed with the XO sauce dish – advertised as featuring abalone but, oddly, had none. This dish left us feeling let down given the high expectations set by the manager’s description.
During the extended periods we were left unattended, we couldn’t help but observe the experience of other tables around us, and it became evident that our table wasn’t alone in facing service issues. For example, one table was asked about their water preference twice, and they were later served the wrong bottle of wine. Another couple waited over 30 minutes before asking the manager if a waiter was assigned to their table; it then took them even longer to get their drinks. When their food finally arrived, it was incorrect, and the manager had to re-verify their order. Their frustration was obvious.
The quirkiest moment we saw was when a waiter placed two salad bowls directly on a couple’s dinner plates, leaving them to eat from the bowls instead of transferring the salad onto the plates first – certainly not what you expect from a restaurant of this calibre. Please don’t think we’re overly critical; these observations were simply hard to miss given the amount of time we waited without service.
Despite the disorganised service, we did enjoy the evening in the sense that we had good company and liked the ambience and some of the dishes. That said, I’m not sure other diners could say the same. For a $200 meal, I was hoping for a more polished experience, particularly with service. It’s an experience we won’t forget, but unfortunately, not one we’re keen to repeat.

I was Adelaide with mum and sister for girls weekend and very happy we chose this place for dinner on our last night.
We fell in love with the ambience and loved hearing about the history of the building and how it was once a bank. The food was also all amazing and service impeccable, a must visit for all seafood lovers

Amazing place to dine at for seafood! Their sashimi and shellfish were fresh and delectable. The extensive menu caters to every taste bud, featuring fresh catch, steak, and vegetarian options. We had the tomahawk special which was well worth the price and cooked perfectly! Another personal favourite was the curry and fried chicken.
Prices remain surprisingly reasonable considering the high-quality ingredients and lavish surroundings.

Celebrating our wedding anniversary. I found this restaurant, and it doesn’t disappoint. Our bill was a whopping $400+ though, but all I can say was well worth it.. we all enjoyed the ambience, and the food also the service were exceptional. We all had a posh dining experience.

Fishbank came highly recommended and it did not disappoint! From the second you enter the large doors you’re greeted warmly, seated and waited on consistently. Staff were highly attentive, managing to time their visits to your table perfectly.
Staff recommendations for wine pairings and meal preferences were right on the money, and both the food and drinks worked perfectly.
My partner’s favourite dish was the prawn and chicken salad followed closely by the Flathead tartare. My favourite dish was the Barramundi by a country mile.
One of the most enjoyable experiences we’ve had in a restaurant to date – Thanks to all the staff, and our compliments to the chefs! We will be back very soon!

Metro Oyster Bar seems to offer a consistently delightful experience for seafood enthusiasts. From what I’m seeing, the quality of the oysters is a standout feature, with many praising their freshness and the interesting flavor combinations available in the rainbow oyster selections. A pleasant atmosphere and apparent care from the staff contribute positively to the overall impression.
It looks like a great spot for a celebratory meal or a special occasion. The range of offerings beyond oysters, such as platters with calamari and prawns, suggests a more expansive menu to satisfy various tastes. The service is reportedly attentive and compassionate, a significant plus for a memorable dining experience.

I’m surprised by all the 5 star reviews. This place was cute and the service was friendly, but slow. I had rainbow oysters, octopus, and Greek salad. The oysters and octopus left my stomach unsettled and weren’t delicious in the moment either. The Greek salad was good, drinks were also good.
I’m really annoyed to have paid so much for such a mid meal, I wouldn’t return.

As oyster lovers this was a delight! We had the natural oysters followed by a delicious selection of rainbow oysters. We were thrilled to try the jumbo oysters. The service was above and beyond (including an unforeseen medical episode – thank you truly for your care and compassion during that time). Really felt looked after the whole way through. Very much recommend.

The service is great, staffs are friendly!

One of the better Oyster bars in Adelaide.
Freshest oysters and awesome service. Bar is a bit hidden away but aren’t most great finds like this now days. These guys have been wholesaling for 40+ years, so your going to have to travel to the farm to find fresher oysters.

We walked in and the owner very kindly let us pull up a stool at the bar despite being fully booked.
We started with a dozen oysters, natural and basil. So fresh, plump and tasty. We then ordered the octopus dish and kefalograviera cheese with fig and both were delicious. Thank you!

So glad I discovered Paul’s on a recent visit to Adelaide. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting and the service faultless. My crumbed snapper was cooked to perfection and the salad I ordered with it was fresh and very satisfying. Paul’s has been part of Adelaide’s dining scene since 1946, so its longevity is clearly a testament to the generations of loyal locals and tourists who’ve frequented it. I’ll definitely be back.

This restaurant hasn’t changed since my Mum took me there as a kid, which is a good thing. Same Seafood Chef since 1987 – 38 years. Perfectly cooked garfish, prawns, scallops and squid. Options of grilled, battered or crumbed. Our son had a schnitzel as he doesn’t like fish.

Dining Experience @ Paul’s Seafood On Gouger.
.
Founded by Bill Paul in 1946, Paul’s Seafood On Gouger is a bastion of the Adelaide dining scene, a long-serving icon of seafood delights.
.
Ambience is basic. It’s almost a shack rather than a restaurant, with 2 levels of warmly lit space cramped with basic wooden tables and cushioned chairs, vibe hailing from the 1980s. The open kitchen at the entrance means the odour of frying and grilling hangs in the air, while golden oldies music plays in the background.
.
Service is welcoming and friendly, with staff according each table personalised attention. They demonstrate good product knowledge, work quickly at fulfilling requests or cleaning up, and introduce dishes as they serve.
.
Food is Australian Seafood cuisine, with a good variety of fish, shellfish, and other options, either grilled or battered and fried. Portions are large for individuals. Prices command a slight premium, budget about AUD $50 per person.
.
The Salt & Pepper Calamari Squid (AUD $15) has bouncy fresh calamari squid pieces, coated in a crisp spice-infused golden batter. Has a lovely sweet salty savoury spice flavour. Addictively tasty, kept reaching for more.
.
The Moreton Bay Bug (AUD $45.90) has 3 whole moreton bay bugs / slipper lobsters sliced in half, coated with a light batter then grilled to perfection. These gourmet seafood morsels have a chunky bouncy tender texture with addictive smoky sweet savoury salty buttery spice flavour.

Fantastic place to dine. The Oyster Mornay was superbly amazing but it comes with hefty price though. Canadian Lobster was okay, I find it a little rubbery but the Baby Squid was equally good.
Great customer service. Will be back for more.

Last night, friends and I had a lovely dinner at Paul’s on Gouger. The grilled whiting was delicious and the chips were fabulous. The service was friendly, attentive and incredibly efficient. We were in and out within an hour and a quarter. The decor is nostalgic (1970s?) but no one really noticed because the food was so good.

Definitely very fresh seafood with a large variety of fish and other seafood! You can choose if you want your fish to be crumble grill or battered. You can also pick the amount of fish filets you want. No many salads options or sides options so you pretty much stuck with fries …good fries thou.
The service is great and fast. The place is old and lacks some atmosphere otherwise q great place for dinner or lunch.

Great hospitality. Booked a table over the phone. The receptionist was really cheerful and warm. Upon arrival she was nice, guided us to our table. And throughout the stay she was great. Attended with a smile, and described things well when asked.
Now, about the main part food and pricing. I randomly selected this one as I needed to book a place for ‘seafood’ and it was the closest at Adelaide CBD. Freshly prepared fish and meals were nice however the pricing seems to be more than what it should be like. Most probably it’s due to their reputation. Since they are a really old place they probably deserve to keep it at that range. Not sure.
Overall, it’s a good place for seafood if price is not an issue. And the service is definitely awesome.
I would give 4.5 due to the pricing, but I think it’s up to them & also there’s no .5 option anyway.
Cheers!!
