Adhi Sappareng

This was my second visit to this cafe, and once again, it didn’t disappoint. The atmosphere is absolutely beautiful, surrounded by lush plants that give it a fresh, calming vibe. We ordered the Crepes Benny, which was delicious, and the Brisket with Mash—both were fantastic. The brisket was incredibly tender, and the mashed potatoes were perfectly creamy. We also had fresh juice that lived up to its name—so refreshing! The staff were friendly and welcoming, making the experience even better. Highly recommend this place for a relaxing and satisfying meal.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at Peter Rabbit in April 2025 and it was a MAGICAL venue!

Everything was perfect and we felt that the evening ran so smoothly, thanks to the hard work and coordination of the Peter Rabbit team! The food was great, the grazing table was stunning, the cocktails were delicious and the venue felt cosy, intimate and magical – especially as it got dark and the fairy lights and candles came to light. It was absolutely the vibe we were going for!

Huge thanks to the Peter Rabbit team for making our wedding so special! We had the best night!!

Very cute little café. Good service and great ambience and decor. The food was tasty and coffee was good but unbelievable such a tiny amount of bacon when it cost $7 to add bacon (and the meals were already quite pricey).

offered a unique brunch menu you don’t often see in Melbourne. Protein-heavy options were a bit limited, and adding extras would easily push meals towards $40, but the creativity of the dishes made up for it.

I went for the Mister Potato with added egg — essentially a beautifully crispy spud topped with an XO shrimp mix, sitting over a fresh salad with an insanely good dressing. Also tried the Mushroom Udon, which was the standout — a refreshing, chilli-based tom yum-style broth with udon, mushrooms, tofu, corn, bok choy and more. It’s a flavour profile I haven’t experienced at brunch before and it really worked.

The Irish espresso martinis were also a hit — smooth, rich, and dangerously easy to drink. Overall, a creative brunch spot worth visiting if you’re after something a little different.

Very busy in the morning, cannot remember the need of waiting 15 minutes for a coffee take away which tastes just above average. Atmosphere is good, food looks good for standard Aussie cafe. With the amount of waiting time required, simply not really worth the wait for what you get at the end.

Interesting decor place, matches the name Peter Rabbit. Drinks/ coffee menu is great. Menu seems abit limited in my opinion. Although I did enjoy Peter’s pappardelle and didn’t realise it was Vegan lol.
The matcha special was delicious.

I’ve visited Exchange several times, and it’s a place I always enjoy bringing friends or visitors. The coffee is consistently excellent, and this time I decided to try something new — the tonic espresso — which was a refreshing and delightful surprise.

For food, I went with the Confit Duck Benedict on a friend’s recommendation, and I couldn’t have been happier. It was rich, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. The space itself is clean, welcoming, and has a great atmosphere.

The only thing holding me back from giving five stars is the service. It can sometimes feel a little unfriendly, which takes away from the overall experience. With warmer customer service, this place would be perfect.

Went to this cafe with 7 other people and we really enjoyed our meal and drinks!
The little things of this cafe made all the difference! The sparkling water, the tables not being shaky, plenty of staff to serve you, great options on the menu, out door sitting and in door, not super cramped. This place is great!
Love the fresh OJ!
Thanks Exchange, you legends

Adelaide is full of wonderful places and this is no exception. My partner and I came here for a holiday.

While he went to the gym, I went out for a walk to explore and find coffee!

I stumbled upon this place, quite a pleasant area to be in. I reckon its a good catch up spot.

I stepped slightly out of my normal food zone and grabbed the ‘Turkish Eggs’. I am so glad I did. It was so tasty.

The coffee was quite nice too.

All in all, it is a really nice spot to just chill early in the morning before the day ramps up.

I was only in Adelaide for a few days, I would’ve come back for more but I wanted to sus other places. I’ll be honest, I should’ve come back as the other places I tried didn’t live up to this place.

Thanks all, I’ll be back when I visit again

Wow, welcome to Adelaide.

Visiting for fringe, I was hoping that the City would be curious about vegan ism and exchange coffee blew me away.

With vegan options on their menu clearly marked “VG” and the ability to change a lot of dishes with VGO or simply asking.

I enjoyed the banana bread with espresso whip VG.
Which was soft and hearty, the creamy espresso whip with sweet dukkah paired perfectly.

I probably didn’t realize the portions would be so big, but I also ordered the “eggs your way” subbing out eggs for a wonderful creamy tofu scramble.
2 large pieces of sourdough, was very full, but committed.
Affordable and delicious vegan food.

They have a great coffee program. Sourcing and supporting sustainable coffee growers.
Espresso, filter batch brew coffee available in a 1L carafe aswell

Exchange coffee cafe was absolutely fantastic.
Greeted at the door, with table service and the capacity to cater for individuals as well as larger groups of up to at least 12 on a large table.

Coffee is good, the seating not so good. I do feel stress by seating down for a coffee. Space is a bit squeeze, too close to other people. Focus on coffee not as much as when it first started over 10 years ago. There is a big food menu like most cafe and coffee shop these days, which is understandable to put more effort on what makes money.

Had a lovely brunch here on a weekday. Turkish eggs and tofu scramble and a batch brew coffee. The tofu scramble blew my mind with beautiful flavours and textures. Lovely atmosphere indoors, very quiet and nice to sit and read and relax. Excellent food. Would recommend. The cafe uses Market Lane Coffee beans. Staff are attentive and helpful.

For some reason I had this in my Want To Go, so instead of hotel breakfast I ventured here as it was close. Expecting big crowds on a Saturday I arrived just after they opened and I wasn’t the first. I chose a table outside as it was quite nice. The staff were very friendly and quick. The menu offers breakfast and lunch options with asian influence. Ordered a strong white and then Duck Eggs Benedict. What is nice is that they give out sparkling water as table water. The coffee was ok, quite mild and not strong as expected when ordering an extra shot. When the lady at the next table asked the staff if the coffee is very strong I nearly laughed ( I didnt). Then came the food and ..oh my god. It was the biggest serve. I think my face said it all when the plate was put in front of me. A massive slice of bread topped with lots of greens topped with lots of duck ragou topped with 2 poached eggs and doused in a red curry hollandaise type of sauce….to die for. I ate the whole thing ( lucky I hadn’t had dinner the night before and I didn’t plan to have lunch). Highly recommend but you should like spicy and ..well be hungry. Bit let down on the coffee side but would go back.

We decided to have a friend’s birthday brunch there but I did not book in advanced(my own problem)

Unfortunately, the service wasn’t good. I requested a table for five and waited at least 15 minutes, but guests who arrived later simply went to the empty tables. We ended up squeezing into a small one. After that, we placed our order and HAD TO WAIT 45 minutes to be served;)

matcha was watery, foods were good overall

Visited for lunch on a Thursday. The place had a nice ambience and wasn’t too crowded, which made for a comfortable experience. We sat inside as it was a bit too windy outdoors.

Service was great—staff were friendly and attentive. I ordered the bacon toastie and requested no onion jam, but was told it couldn’t be modified as it’s premade and simply reheated, which was a bit disappointing. The bacon was also too hard for my liking.

I had a mocha, which was just okay. My friend ordered the chilli eggs, and honestly, her dish looked much more appetising than mine.

Awesome atmosphere. Situated in a quiet part of Adelaide City. Coffee was tasty. Probs a Ethiopian/Columbian. Solid 8 for the coffee. I find this place very relaxing. Not too busy this Thursday lunch time .. 1235pm, but I’ve drivn past in the past and this cafe definitely pumps at times.
I think it is the decor and setup which really does it here for me..and of course the great coffee. Approx a 10 minute walk from the Central Markets. ☕️

Just grabbed an ice latte today, which was in a Saturday morning. There ice latte was perfect and really good for such hot weather today (max temperature will soon reach 35°C in this afternoon).

It’s my first time visiting this Cafe. It’s almost fully occupied for outdoor sittings. The atmosphere of outdoor sittings was very relaxed and cozy. Street parking is just next to the Cafe so it’s convenient to visit by car.

I will definitely visit again with my friends or family for a big breakfast and of course their good coffee too.

I’ve ordered from this cafe before and usually the food is fine, but this last experience was unacceptable. I called in just before last orders on Easter Saturday and was charged a 15% public holiday surcharge that wasn’t mentioned. When I got home, the fried chicken was very burnt—one side hidden by placing it face-down on the bun, which was also burnt. The chicken was too dry and burnt to eat, and they forgot the bacon jam, which is a key part of the dish. I paid over $30 for something inedible. The cafe was closed by the time I got home, so I couldn’t return it. When we went in the next day, they refused to refund or remake the meal and claimed they couldn’t do anything. Very disappointed by their lack of accountability and poor customer service. I won’t be returning or recommending this place to anyone.

Coffylosophy is my local and the best cafe in the Hutt St/Halifax St area. The coffee is the best in town and the food and cakes/pastries are delicious. The owners and staff are so much fun and interact with their customers, there’s a real local community vibe.

I love their mocha. Medium size is just nice for me. My burger was tasty but personally think that the chicken is slightly on the dry side. Will try other dishes next time. Sauces for the chips cost extras but really enjoyed the chips. Staff members are definitely very friendly and food is served fast.

Café Bang Bang offers a solid experience for a quick bite or coffee. The selection of breakfast items appears quite extensive and the staff generally seems friendly and accommodating. It’s clear they aim to provide a welcoming atmosphere, even though space might be a little limited, particularly during peak hours. A notable point is the potential need for clear signage outside to assist new customers.

The quality of ingredients used seems promising, although consistency might be something to monitor. While the coffee itself is reported to be good, the overall appeal seems geared more towards a casual meeting spot, perhaps for those seeking a quick breakfast. It’s a place that seems to focus on providing convenient options for those on the go.

Had the eggs Benedict for breakfast at Cafe Bang Bang. The restaurant was extremely busy and felt cramped so we sat outside. The food was average. The corn and zucchini were supposed to be crispy, but it was too soft, uncooked. The service was average, nothing particularly special. The waitress’s finger touched my food when she brought the dish to me. The atmosphere was average, but there was an oily smell.

I recently visited this café for a casual catch-up with my friend and brought my son along. We arrived around 10 AM and had a bit of trouble finding the place—it doesn’t have a clear sign outside, just a small chalkboard sign at the coffee bar, so keep an eye out!

Despite that, the place was definitely worth the effort. It was a busy Friday morning, but we were still able to choose from a few available tables. We opted for a cozy corner spot to fit our pram comfortably. One thing I noticed was that we weren’t offered a high chair, which made me think the café may not cater much to families with young children—more of a go-to spot for office workers or quick breakfast meetups.

We ordered mochas, and mine came in a lovely mug. The barista’s latte art was on point—simple but beautiful. For food, my friend got the Bang Bang’s Breakfast ($27.50), which came with poached egg, streaky bacon, grilled cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, chipolatas, hash brown, and toasted ciabatta. I ordered the Sweet Liege Waffle & Bacon ($22.00), which included two poached eggs, streaky bacon, Liege waffles with maple cream and banana. It was incredible—I especially loved the pairing of the banana and cream with the waffles.

Overall, it was a great experience. The food was delicious, the coffee was satisfying, and the vibe was relaxed yet lively.

We are here for breakfast and everything that we ordered was delicious! The coffee was really good and was well balanced. There was a wide variety of food choices which catered well for us. Love this place, and the owner is lovely too. Excellent selection of specially coffees to try and to buy. It’s busy on a Saturday for brunch but the wait is always short, or book ahead. You can usually get a table right away during the week.
Love that everything is halal!
Definitely recommend the clay pot eggs, they are a winter special worth the trip.

The ambience was great both indoors and outdoors, creating a lovely setting for a brunch. The food was delicious, though the portion size of the potato gems on the side felt a bit small given the price. Unfortunately, the matcha was a letdown – it was quite grainy and overly milky. Regardless, the service was friendly and attentive throughout. I’d recommend booking in advance, as it gets quite busy and finding a good table as a walk-in can be challenging.

Update: have returned to try more of the menu and was very impressed. The chicken katsu sando is a must try! Ordered a coffee this time and it was perfect. Service was again friendly and accomodating.

Overall, it was a very good experience. It is Halal.
We ordered the Wagyu steak sandwich, the Spicy Chicken burger, and the Beef Brisket burger. Everything was delicious, well-prepared, and full of flavor. The presentation and taste exceeded our expectations, and we would definitely recommend it.

Leisurely Coffee has a calm and inviting vibe — it’s the kind of spot where you instantly feel at ease. The location itself, tucked into this quieter part of the city, really adds to the experience. Its comfortable environment makes it a good place to catch up with friends. We had a good big laugh over coffee, and it just felt like the kind of place where conversations flow naturally.

As for the food, it’s really not bad at all. I’d definitely recommend popping in for a visit, especially if you’ve never been here before.

Here’s some rating of the food we ordered all based on PERSONAL PREFERENCE:
(and I honestly forgot if any of these were on the specials menu):
• Chicken Katsu Sando – 8/10
• Beef Brisket Burger – 7.5/10 (added extra halloumi)
• Fried Chicken Burger (can’t remember the exact name) 7/10
• Fillet o’ Fish Bao Bun – 9/10

All in all, a great spot for a good chat with good eats

The best and probably the first restaurant who created soft shell crab croissant! It was so crispy and delicious. We also had their new eel bao – the eel was so long! Not to mention their coffee were nice too, definitely worth a visit.

Absolutely loved our breakfast at Zuma Caffe in Adelaide Central Market! We ordered the Big Breakfast and Simon’s Eggs Benedict — both were delicious and beautifully presented. The ingredients were fresh, the portions were generous, and the flavors were spot on. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, and the service was friendly and efficient. A perfect way to start the day — highly recommend Zuma Caffe to anyone visiting the market!

⭐⭐⭐⭐ | Great Food & Atmosphere in the Heart of the Market

Zuma Café is a reliable and welcoming spot right in the heart of Adelaide Central Market. The location is perfect for people-watching and soaking in the market’s energy while enjoying a meal. The menu offers a solid range of breakfast and lunch options — classics like eggs benedict, fresh sandwiches, and hearty salads are always well-executed.

Coffee is consistently good, and the service is friendly and efficient, even during busy hours. The staff are attentive without being intrusive, which adds to the laid-back yet professional vibe.

The only reason for holding back the fifth star is that the food, while delicious, plays it a bit safe — nothing too adventurous or particularly unique. Still, it’s a dependable choice when you’re after quality café fare in a vibrant setting.

Would definitely return — great spot to relax, refuel, and take in the buzz of the market!

I bought a take-away coffee today.

It was a standard cup, with 2 shots, just normal milk. I have been charged $7. Its taste was alright but could be hotter.

As far as I can remember, I have only been charged for $7 or more for a standard cup of coffee (with size bigger than the small cup) a few times in Australia so far.

The cost of living threat is imminent. Perhaps more coffee shops will be charging you more than $7 for a standard cup of coffee

Absolutely amazing breakfast & service!
Not even a few minutes after ordering our coffee orders were at the table. Delicious, hot, and my matcha was probably the best I’ve tasted during my travels in Adelaide. Staff were quick efficient and lovely. Food arrived shortly after and my goodness was it heaven! We ordered the focaccia brekky sandwich and it was such a huge proportion for the price. The focaccia was so light and fluffy while the bacon and eggs were also cooked to the perfect texture creating a dancing experience for the senses – the cheese sauce was DIVINE!
Highly recommend visiting. Very excited to come back next year when we visit Adelaide again from Brisbane. Thank you for the lovely hospitality.

Zuma is an institution in the Adelaide Central Market.

Their breakfast and lunch menu is extensive. +1⭐️
I like that they have a half portion of the smashed avocado on toast +1⭐️
My hunt for the perfect poached egg continues and given how busy the restaurant was on a weekday at 10.00 am, the poached egg with the smashed avocado and crumbled feta was just so with a delightful ooze. +1⭐️

We also had the eggs benedict with ham. It was simply presented. The Hollandaise was thick and creamy and the eggs perfectly cooked. I was told it was good but not great. +0.5⭐️

They have freshly-squeezed orange juice from local oranges +1⭐️

The prices are the sign of the times -0.5⭐️

Zuma Caffe on Gouger St has a chilled, casual vibe… good spot for breakfast or a quick coffee catch-up. Their menu’s got all the usual classics, and the portions are pretty generous. Coffee’s solid too, nothing over the top but hits the spot.

Service is usually friendly and fast, even when they’re busy. Handy location if you’re wandering through the markets or nearby. Not fancy, just reliable and easygoing.

Absolutely recommend this spot!

I had lunch with a friend at this lovely cafe this afternoon, and it was an amazing experience. I loved the vibe—cozy, warm, bright, modern, and comforting. The service was equally impressive. The staff were incredibly friendly and patient, making us feel truly welcome.

Coffee: Beautiful presentation and fantastic flavor. We ordered a flat white, cappuccino, iced batch brew, and long black—each one was excellent. The flat white, in particular, had a perfect balance of espresso and milk.

Food: We had the Beef Benny, Chicken Croffle, and two servings of chips. Everything was delicious! Generous portions, rich flavors, and beautifully presented dishes—there wasn’t a single thing I didn’t enjoy.

Will definitely be back!

– Came here with some friends for breakfast. Good seating outdoor and indoor available.
– Nice ambience with friendly staff.
– Food was quite good. We all enjoyed our meals. Only reason 4 stars is because my friend’s chicken burger/croissant had a tiny bone or piece of cartilage in it. Other than that he said it was really good.
– Would recommend coming here for breakfast, overall good vibe. Good coffee as well.

Service – awful. We sat at a large table as we wanted to order a few different dishes to try but we were immediately moved to a smaller table even though the cafe was 90% empty.
Coffee – Luke warm. Really nice latte art though.
Food – awful. The HOT cake came out COLD and seemed like it was just pulled out of a packet and plated up. No flavour, stale. It was so cold that even the ice cream on top of it wouldn’t melt.
The “smashed” avocado came 15-20 minutes after the “hot” cake. Barely any taste.
Atmosphere was okay.

A small cafe mainly for takeaway but still offers two little tables at outdoor roadside. It situates at a busy Grenfell Street, so it’s quite convenient to visit.

Service was lovely the worker was so nice – she was accommodating to a customer who needed a space to place a box. I enjoyed my brownie although it was very sweet and tasted kind of undercooked – but maybe that was what the recipe aimed for. My company enjoyed her iced latte coffee that tasted top-quality. Water was free, yummy, cold, and refreshing with satisfying ice-cubes I visited when Grenfell Street wasn’t too busy, which made the atmosphere pleasant. The music was excellent I had a total jam – They played ABBA and Pinkpantheress it was awesome!!

Adelaide has a lot of good food options, no matter what meal you’re seeking. The aroma of coffee pulled me into Elementary. Modelled on a Melbourne style coffee shop, this popular CBD coffee spot is serious about coffee. Their Young Street blend which combines Brazilian and Colombian beans, throws milk chocolate and something fruity in a cappuccino ($4). The pastry counter offered up beautiful rectangular blueberry danishes ($6/each) topped with firm, plump and acidic fruit. Staff were friendly and not too busy to offer water to those opting to eat inside the simply furnished warehouse-style space despite the long takeaway queue.

    Pastries and Baked Goods

Many Adelaide cafes have in-house bakeries or partner with local bakeries to provide a selection of freshly baked pastries and baked goods. This can include croissants, muffins, scones, and cakes, often made with seasonal ingredients.

Frequently Asked Questions about Cafes in Adelaide

    What makes Adelaide cafes unique?

Adelaide’s cafes often prioritize a slower pace and a focus on quality ingredients. Many showcase locally sourced produce, including coffee beans, pastries, and fresh fruit. You're likely to find a more relaxed atmosphere and a greater emphasis on community than you might experience elsewhere. There's a notable appreciation for artisan coffee and unique brewing methods.

How do I find cafes with gluten-free options?

Many Adelaide cafes now cater to dietary restrictions. To find cafes with gluten-free options, search online using keywords such as "gluten-free cafe Adelaide" or check dedicated allergy-friendly restaurant directories. Most cafes are happy to list ingredients or offer alternatives upon request. It's always a good idea to confirm details directly with the establishment before visiting.

What’s the typical price range for a coffee and a pastry?

The typical price range for a coffee and a pastry in Adelaide varies depending on the type of cafe and location. Generally, you can expect to pay around $4-$6 for a standard coffee and $3-$7 for a pastry. Specialty cafes offering unique coffee or gourmet pastries may have slightly higher prices, generally from $5 - $8 for a coffee and $5 – $10 for a pastry. Smaller cafes and those further from the city centre might offer more affordable options.

Are there many cafes open early for breakfast?

Yes, there are many cafes in Adelaide that open early to cater for the breakfast crowd. A significant number open between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM, particularly those in CBD locations and popular residential areas. This allows those who need a quick coffee or breakfast before work or other activities to easily access their morning caffeine fix. Check individual cafe opening hours online.

What are some good cafes for working remotely?

Finding cafes suitable for remote work requires considerations of Wi-Fi reliability, seating comfort, and a relatively quiet atmosphere. Many cafes now offer dedicated workspace areas with power outlets. Look for cafes with larger tables, a relaxed atmosphere, and a signal you can depend on for longer periods. Check reviews for mentions of these features.

How do I find the best coffee beans?

Many Adelaide cafes roast their own beans or source them from specialty coffee roasters. To find cafes that offer exceptional coffee beans, look for cafes that showcase their roasting process or list the origin and details of their beans. Ask baristas about their recommended beans and ask about different brewing methods. Purchasing beans directly from the cafe supports local businesses.

What’s the difference between a café and a bistro?

While the terms are often used interchangeably, there's a subtle difference. A café typically focuses on coffee, light meals, and pastries. A bistro, on the other hand, offers a more extensive menu with full breakfast and lunch options, often including more substantial mains. Many Adelaide establishments blend aspects of both, but this distinction is a helpful guideline.

Are there any cafes with outdoor seating?

Yes, Adelaide boasts a significant number of cafes with outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying the pleasant climate. Many cafes have patios, balconies, or sidewalk tables. Popular areas like Rundle Street, Hutt Street, and Gouger Street are particularly known for their outdoor cafe culture. Look for shaded areas, especially during the warmer months.

What’s the etiquette for lingering at a cafe?

While cafes welcome patrons, especially during busy periods, it’s considerate to be mindful of others. If the cafe is crowded, try not to linger excessively with a single order. Purchasing additional items, such as a second coffee or snack, demonstrates respect for other potential customers. Be aware of peak times and consider moving if asked to vacate your table.

Are there any dog-friendly cafes in Adelaide?

A growing number of Adelaide cafes are embracing dog-friendly policies. Many allow well-behaved dogs on outdoor patios. Look for cafes with designated "dog-friendly" areas or check their social media for mentions of pet-friendly policies. Always confirm directly with the cafe before visiting with your dog and ensure your pet is well-behaved and on a leash.
