7.5

Adelaide Bird & Exotics Vet Centre appears to offer specialized care for a range of unusual pets. Numerous clients praise Dr. Anne Fowler's expertise, particularly regarding her treatment of birds. Many commend her skill and the heartfelt care they perceive, making her a sought-after specialist for exotic animal needs.

Dr Anne Fowler is nothing short of amazing! Her expertise in exotics and the heartfelt care she provides when treating them is why I won't take my rabbit anywhere else. Really can't praise her and her surgery enough.

My African Grey parrot had a nasty injury and after going to an emergency vet that night, I followed it up with seeing Dr Anne Fowler the next day. She was absolutely incredible. Full of brilliant advice, really funny and she has a gift with birds. I am thrilled to have found her and would recommend her to anyone who has birds or any other exotic pets. 5 stars.

The negative reviews are unfortunately accurate. I don’t usually take every Google review at face value, but my first visit here was unacceptable. She (Anne Fowler) claims to be the only vet in SA qualified to treat rabbits, but her outdated advice and questionable approach suggest otherwise. Both of my rabbits were handled so poorly that they became visibly stressed — something I have never experienced at our regular vet. To make matters worse, she performed a diagnostic test without our consent. She came across as condescending and dismissive, while exaggerating their condition in a way that felt manipulative. I left with serious doubts about her professionalism and integrity. We will be consulting a second opinion from our regular vets at the Unusual Pet Vet in Prospect. I strongly recommend avoiding this clinic.

The vet, Ann? Super insensitive towards me having my loved chicken put to sleep bringing up her own political views for some weird reason, just overall horrible bedside manners, I didn't say anything during consult because I was more worried about being there for my pet who was being put to sleep for cancer. Then to have no one disclose there was a euthanasia fee of 180 dollars. Insensitive and I won't be back, I will however continue to see Brett. While I appreciate what you have done for my chicken, I wong be back here.

I’m truly and deeply thankful to Dr. Anne Fowler and her team for the care they gave my cockatiel Evie during a very difficult time. Dr. Anne immediately understood the seriousness of the situation. She took immediate, thoughtful action, and the level of compassion and expertise she showed was extraordinary. She answered every question we had too. She not only provided the medical care Evie required, but also treated her with gentleness and genuine kindness. Even when the clinic was closed, Dr. Anne made time to check in and speak with me — something I’ll never forget given the situation we were in. Thanks to her care, Evie is back home after hospitalisation and on the path to recovery. Dr. Anne is deeply skilled, observant, and truly devoted to her patients. I cannot recommend her enough for anyone seeking expert avian care.

Dr. Anne was warm, knowledgeable, and reassuring when I sought advice about my cockatiel's chronic egg laying. It was evident that my bird felt safe in her care. She took the time to thoroughly discuss the issue with me before quickly and painlessly administering the necessary medication via injection.

I took my chicken there on Saturday and the diagnose was potential egg yolk peritonitis. I asked about the option of keeping on draining her and was told it would cost $60 per week and over three thousand dollars for a year. I was suggested I could bring her back for surgery. And Dr Brad was going to do the surgeryfor her. As Dr Brad has killed one of my chickens before and the way he conducted himself during that operation was questionable( if he is experienced). I booked in for a surgery and did my own research determined not to get the operation for her but to get the hormone treatment to stop her laying eggs again and drain her as we go. I took my chicken in yesterday and had this consultation Dr Brad, who pointed out that 1. my chicken has cancer inside. 2. If I don't have the chicken opened up and have the surgery, I could not get rid of the fluid retention. I asked him if he would see the success rate of being 90%? He said would be more than that. However, during the consultation, 1. he did not disclose that the fluid could have been caused by cancer too. Ie. After the operation, the chicken could still suffer from fluid retention! ( I would have said no to the operation of opening her up) 2. he said he would go in there and clear out the cancer cell. 3. He said even chicken with cancer could live happily months after the operation. he operated on two birds, one was unwell after the operation and died within a week, the other one is still doing very well a few months after. Received the call after operation late yesterday afternoon. Dr Brad changed his tone to: He found cancer, with the cancer, the body fluid will come back soon. I will have to drain her very soon. She might die shortly too. Totally changed from what he said before the surgery. After the ominous call last night I was overwhelmed with depression and fear for my chicken's life. I regret I left her there and did not take her to seek a second opinion. I knew those two vets rarely delivered in the past! Ann once conveniently omitted the fact that one of my other chickens could not eat on her own anymore when she sent it home from her care and died the following day! But i still left my chicken there and not following my gut. I was resentful that they be oth omitted the important facts and mislead me in making the wrong decision where they benifits financially this time and after by treating the side effects of the operation. This morning, I prayed that I would receive a call to take my chicken home. But at 1.15pm Dr Ann called in with bad news that my chicken died at 12.30 and I did not even have a chance to be at her side. Snow was so strong before she went into the surgery that it took two people to feed her the antibiotics. I will never send any chickens to these two in the future. They are money driven!!! I was given a quote of $1200 for the operation on Saturday. As I had bad experience, I asked the receptionist after consultation with Ann, what was included and if it was fixed. The receptionist checked with Ann, and came back said it was all inclusive Then on Tuesday, Dr Brad said the cost would go from $1100 to $1800. I said but I was given the quote of $1200 fixed!! Tbh, I was going to The Unusual Pet Vet for a second opinion. Because we agreed on the price, I did not go. And Dr Brad seemed to accept it in the end reluctantly. After leaving the clinic, I thought maybe I should take my Snow away as Dr Brad is not going to do his job properly now. No surprise, in his call he said he did not clear any of the cancer cells. To me we are operating to eliminate the fluid and the cause in her body. If it cannot be done, I would have chosen to be conservative and had the fluid drawn out without opening her up. I would have spent the $1200 draining her 20 times and she would still be alive. Instead of spending $1200 to have her killed! These vets want quick money and do not care they took away your loved ones' life! Also they are incompetent!!!
