We were in an emergency situation with Molly our dachshund and were well informed about our options by Tara the vet. Her detailed explanations helped with decision making for Molly. It was evident that other vet/s were consulted in managing Molly’s condition which gave us confidence.
Everything turned out well fortunately.
Sarah handled the discharge preparation well and helped with decision making too. The nurses and other reception staff were lovely and respectful. Looks like a good team.
Thank you

We were recommended to SASH when our dog was diagnosed with diabetes which our local vet could not control.
The professionalism and caring attitude we found there reassured us we were in the best of hands.
The entire staff not only cared for the animals but also for the owners.
The assistance, caring and understanding we received cannot be over stated.
We were very stressed as we had an unco-operative dog when it came to his daily insulin injection.
The patience that everyone showed us was much appreciated.
A big thank you to Dr. James who guided us through this traumatic time with his compassion and understanding.
I could not rate SASH highly enough with the experience we received.
Keep up the fabulous work you do, believe me it is truly appreciated by us.

The entire team from the people that greeted us to the doctors and nurses that looked after me and my Corgi were incredible. I’ve never met a vet doctor who was so thorough, understanding and felt like I was in extremely good hands with his technical knowledge and options available moving forward. The building was clean, tidy and welcoming and would recommend this vet to anyone in a heart beat. Thanks to the entire team working to help us and others look after our pet family members

Poor Bronco broke his leg on a Sunday arvo and we took him to Sash. The staff were professional, compassionate, caring and amazing. He was quickly seen and operated on the next day. We received regular photos and updates of Bronco during his stay and thanks to the team at Sash he is now back home on the couch. Couldn’t be happier with the service and treatment.

My experiences with SASH when my pet is in a crisis has been that the staff, from surgeon, vet, nurse to client service team member have been compassionate, professional and knowledgeable. They made having my 10 month old puppy undergoing life surgery a little easier as they walked me through everything step by step, answered any questions I had and sent me updates along the way. They were clear and punctual when checking in on her progress and they took such good care of her, that after 2 surgeries and almost a week of recovery time the veterinary clinic is still one of her favourite places to be. Thank you.

Dr. Andrew is a fantastic vet — he was incredibly patient with all our questions and took the time to explain everything clearly. He gave us thoughtful and helpful recommendations, and his kind, friendly manner made the whole experience feel very reassuring. Most importantly, he showed genuine care and affection toward my cat, which meant a lot to me. Has also been seeing Dr Claire who is an amazing vet as well! Highly recommend!

Dr Brooke has been incredibly helpful and supportive with our greyhound who is struggling with separation anxiety. She is his biggest advocate and is always extremely thorough but also takes time to explain things properly to us which we really appreciate. We are very grateful for all of her hard work and support

Dr. Andrew is very professional and considerable of our circumstances. He has saved our dog Koral twice now. The first time, when Koral had a very serious knee injury, Dr. Andrew very professionally assessed her conditions and came up with a solution for specialist treatment. The second time, when she had arthritis in that knee, he helped us to find the cheapest and most effective treatment. Now Koral is back to normal 🙂 Thanks Dr. Andrew!

I have entrusted Dr Spanner with the care of my two cats for the past three years and have been given very sound advice, especially in relation to their teeth and oral health (and their weight and how best to control it). He administers their vaccines without a flinch from them. I feel like he genuinely cares about their health and overall wellness and I am so happy to have found a trusted vet.

The team at Walkerville vet have been fantastic for helping to take care of Dudley and Roux over the last few years.
Dudley and Roux see Dr Andrew who is an exceptional veterinarian, and takes the time to explain things and why he is doing them. It’s refreshing to see a vet (and team) who you can very clearly see care for each of their patients. At times where we were unable to see Dr Andrew, all other veterinarians have also been wonderful and helped with what our pets needed.
We don’t hesitate to take our pets to Walkerville vet if we feel they need to see a vet, they are very transparent with their pricing and don’t force any choices upon you, instead providing you with all the options and their recommendations.
Thank you to all the staff at Walkerville vet, Dudley and Roux look forward to continuing be your patients to stay happy and healthy.

After having gone to other vets across the years, I have never been to a vet clinic where they truly live the animals like this vet. All the staff greeted my dog as they went past, the vet nurse on the desk is always super friendly and makes you feel at home. The vets that i have seen have taken time with my dogs, especially my older more nervous dog. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this vet clinic to anyone that asks.

I can’t thank the entire team enough for the incredible care they gave our chocolate Labrador after he was hit by a car. It was one of the most terrifying moments we’ve ever faced, but from the moment we arrived, the staff were calm, compassionate, and completely focused.

I gave taken all of my pets to this clinic. My pets received quality care. Today speaking with the receptionist was told I could no longer have credit. The upsetting thing is her complete lack of empathy. This call has left me really upset. I rescued my cat I love him a lot. I know he isn’t going to be here for much longer. Thanks for your non caring Coldness. Why do people like that work in an industry where compassion is paramount.

The vet was kind and every nurse that came into the room was lovely but one staff member over the phone was extremely insensitive and rude. When I called to cancel my appointment for my dog to be put down due to needing to move the time of her death up, the lady on the phone said “oh goody someone wanted to come in this afternoon anyways” I was specific on the phone and said I needed to cancel my dogs appointment that was for being euthanised due to needing an earlier appointment so she wasn’t in pain.
It was very upsetting. I would like to give 0 stars but the one star is for the kind vets and nurses.

Recently had the older male vet that works there and had a terrible experience.
Going to start off with saying been going to this vet for over 10 years so I’m very disappointed at this as always talked highly of this vet. Went in with my dog to get his ear checked up on and this mail vet did not even go near my dog when I suggested why doesn’t he try looking at his ear he got angry and told me he would put my dog into surgery to look! The attitude that this man had was disgusting. He should not be a vet. Again I feel sad and there was other lovely vets that were there however they have been a few times in the past where they have not been able to identify a simple problem when other vets can. I have now taken my animals to the Hilton vet centre and I have to say they are exceptionally extraordinary. If you can avoid this vet, I would. After 10 years of loyalty of not just myself, my other family, going to this vet, to receive the treatment that I got is so disheartening. I hope you guys re-evaluate the type of people you have working at your clinic. We all know this is an unforgiving hard job, but again, this man’s attitude, and the way he just was should not be in this profession.

We took time off work to bring our dog in for a 4:30pm vaccination appointment. This is no small task, as our dog is boisterous and we were also managing our six-month-old baby. The clinic isn’t close to home either, so it was a significant effort.
Upon arrival, we were told to wait in a consult room, only to be informed later by the receptionist that the vaccines hadn’t arrived because the day’s order didn’t show up and we would have to reschedule our appointment. She mentioned they usually arrive by midday. Understandably, we were frustrated, but we remained calm and suggested that in future, it would be helpful to contact clients when orders don’t arrive, so that later appointments can be rescheduled.
It was particularly disappointing because, if it was already known by midday that the vaccines hadn’t arrived, there surely would have been time to notify those with later appointments, including ours at 4:30pm.
We appreciated the apology that was given, but we were looking for a more solution-focused response. Something that would help prevent similar issues from affecting other clients in the future.
Rather than feel heard, though, we were met with defensiveness. We made it clear the feedback was intended for management or whoever handles ordering, but the receptionist continued to take it personally. When we asked whether the order would definitely be in by Monday before rebooking, the defensiveness continued.
Another staff member kindly stepped in and offered a free treat, which we appreciated, but we still left feeling dismissed rather than listened to. We were treated like we were being problematic when we were simply disappointed and wanted to find a solution to the issue.
We’re sharing this in the hope that future communication with clients in similar situations can be handled with more openness, empathy, and a focus on improving processes.

My dog Roo managed to get a hold of some Ibuprofen which can be very toxic to dogs… The vet (Sam) and the nursing staff were all fantastic. They got her in immediately for treatment and were so great with her…
They even managed to get her in the following day when she needed IV fluids and treatment. Hopefully she’s escaped long term damage thanks to the quick and thorough treatment she got.
Excellent vet clinic and I’m so grateful for them saving my girl ❤️

What can I say about Dr Sam & the wonderful team of both Vets & Vet Nurses at Seaton Vets – they are AMAZING! I truly don’t know what we’d do without them! They are knowledgeable, caring & kind. Always striving for continuity which I find invaluable as my beloved cat is a complicated case with multiple health conditions & many vets visits under his belt, so it’s very re-assuring to both him & me that they take the time to know him well, & have an excellent flow of communication between the Mega Team.
My dog also loves them & starts squeaking in excitement as we arrive in the car! All good signs of an excellent group of people working well together as a Team, giving our precious fur-babes the best care.

I have had many experiences with Seaton Vet Centre and they have all been very positive. Their prices are very reasonable for vet care. Their vets and staff are very knowledgeable and we are always greeted with good customer service.
They have a Puppy School program which is great for to learn basics about dog care and a few tricks, it is also very affordable.
One of the biggest highlights for me and my pup was definitely the Puppy Socials on Saturday. It is a 45 minute play session for puppies under 16 weeks which is supervised in a controlled environment. It teaches them to be social and have a good play and run around. My puppy absolutely loved it and was always exhausted afterwards. They also take photos and now and again they manage to get them still for one (see picture of my pup below) Its an absolute bargain at $10 per session. Definitely can recommend Seaton Vet Centre to everyone

Yesterday we took our beautiful border collie x kelpie to our local vet in Port Vincent where she received excellent care. Our girl had swallowed some fragments of her marrow bone which was stuck in her stomach. There was only so much our country vet could do so we had to rush our baby to the Austin. On arrival, the staff were extremely attentive and caring. We did notice, while waiting to be seen, that our girl had made a remarkable improvement. She went from having symptoms of drooling, discomfort and no appetite, to looking bright and happy again. We assume the bone fragment passed from her stomach to her small intestine, making her feel much better. We advised the staff that Annie looked much better and we would not need to see the vet. So even though we didn’t see a vet or pay any fees at all, we still had staff call us today to check in on Annie the next day. They never asked for any fees, even though Annie was assessed and triaged by the vet Nurse. I am very impressed by all the staff we encountered yesterday while we were there for only a short time and it was so nice to have them check in on us today. It is reassuring to know this vet is out there if we ever need it again in the future. The atmosphere the minute you walk in the door is very calming and the place is spotless. Thankyou for your kindness and professionalism. I’m truly grateful.

Adelaide Bird & Exotics Vet Centre appears to offer specialized care for a range of unusual pets. Numerous clients praise Dr. Anne Fowler’s expertise, particularly regarding her treatment of birds. Many commend her skill and the heartfelt care they perceive, making her a sought-after specialist for exotic animal needs.
However, it’s crucial to acknowledge that experiences seem varied. Reports suggest inconsistencies in the level of service provided and a potential lack of consent regarding diagnostic procedures. It seems that assessing the clinic’s approach and ensuring comfort with their methods is paramount before entrusting them with your pet’s care.

Dr Anne Fowler is nothing short of amazing! Her expertise in exotics and the heartfelt care she provides when treating them is why I won’t take my rabbit anywhere else. Really can’t praise her and her surgery enough.

My African Grey parrot had a nasty injury and after going to an emergency vet that night, I followed it up with seeing Dr Anne Fowler the next day. She was absolutely incredible. Full of brilliant advice, really funny and she has a gift with birds. I am thrilled to have found her and would recommend her to anyone who has birds or any other exotic pets. 5 stars.

The negative reviews are unfortunately accurate.
I don’t usually take every Google review at face value, but my first visit here was unacceptable.
She (Anne Fowler) claims to be the only vet in SA qualified to treat rabbits, but her outdated advice and questionable approach suggest otherwise.
Both of my rabbits were handled so poorly that they became visibly stressed — something I have never experienced at our regular vet.
To make matters worse, she performed a diagnostic test without our consent.
She came across as condescending and dismissive, while exaggerating their condition in a way that felt manipulative.
I left with serious doubts about her professionalism and integrity. We will be consulting a second opinion from our regular vets at the Unusual Pet Vet in Prospect.
I strongly recommend avoiding this clinic.

The vet, Ann? Super insensitive towards me having my loved chicken put to sleep bringing up her own political views for some weird reason, just overall horrible bedside manners, I didn’t say anything during consult because I was more worried about being there for my pet who was being put to sleep for cancer.
Then to have no one disclose there was a euthanasia fee of 180 dollars. Insensitive and I won’t be back, I will however continue to see Brett. While I appreciate what you have done for my chicken, I wong be back here.

I’m truly and deeply thankful to Dr. Anne Fowler and her team for the care they gave my cockatiel Evie during a very difficult time.
Dr. Anne immediately understood the seriousness of the situation. She took immediate, thoughtful action, and the level of compassion and expertise she showed was extraordinary. She answered every question we had too.
She not only provided the medical care Evie required, but also treated her with gentleness and genuine kindness. Even when the clinic was closed, Dr. Anne made time to check in and speak with me — something I’ll never forget given the situation we were in.
Thanks to her care, Evie is back home after hospitalisation and on the path to recovery.
Dr. Anne is deeply skilled, observant, and truly devoted to her patients. I cannot recommend her enough for anyone seeking expert avian care.

Dr. Anne was warm, knowledgeable, and reassuring when I sought advice about my cockatiel’s chronic egg laying. It was evident that my bird felt safe in her care. She took the time to thoroughly discuss the issue with me before quickly and painlessly administering the necessary medication via injection.

I took my chicken there on Saturday and the diagnose was potential egg yolk peritonitis. I asked about the option of keeping on draining her and was told it would cost $60 per week and over three thousand dollars for a year.
I was suggested I could bring her back for surgery. And Dr Brad was going to do the surgeryfor her. As Dr Brad has killed one of my chickens before and the way he conducted himself during that operation was questionable( if he is experienced). I booked in for a surgery and did my own research determined not to get the operation for her but to get the hormone treatment to stop her laying eggs again and drain her as we go.
I took my chicken in yesterday and had this consultation Dr Brad, who pointed out that 1. my chicken has cancer inside. 2. If I don’t have the chicken opened up and have the surgery, I could not get rid of the fluid retention. I asked him if he would see the success rate of being 90%? He said would be more than that.
However, during the consultation, 1. he did not disclose that the fluid could have been caused by cancer too. Ie. After the operation, the chicken could still suffer from fluid retention! ( I would have said no to the operation of opening her up)
2. he said he would go in there and clear out the cancer cell.
3. He said even chicken with cancer could live happily months after the operation. he operated on two birds, one was unwell after the operation and died within a week, the other one is still doing very well a few months after.
Received the call after operation late yesterday afternoon. Dr Brad changed his tone to: He found cancer, with the cancer, the body fluid will come back soon. I will have to drain her very soon. She might die shortly too. Totally changed from what he said before the surgery.
After the ominous call last night I was overwhelmed with depression and fear for my chicken’s life. I regret I left her there and did not take her to seek a second opinion. I knew those two vets rarely delivered in the past! Ann once conveniently omitted the fact that one of my other chickens could not eat on her own anymore when she sent it home from her care and died the following day! But i still left my chicken there and not following my gut. I was resentful that they be oth omitted the important facts and mislead me in making the wrong decision where they benifits financially this time and after by treating the side effects of the operation.
This morning, I prayed that I would receive a call to take my chicken home. But at 1.15pm Dr Ann called in with bad news that my chicken died at 12.30 and I did not even have a chance to be at her side. Snow was so strong before she went into the surgery that it took two people to feed her the antibiotics.
I will never send any chickens to these two in the future. They are money driven!!!
I was given a quote of $1200 for the operation on Saturday. As I had bad experience, I asked the receptionist after consultation with Ann, what was included and if it was fixed. The receptionist checked with Ann, and came back said it was all inclusive
Then on Tuesday, Dr Brad said the cost would go from $1100 to $1800. I said but I was given the quote of $1200 fixed!! Tbh, I was going to The Unusual Pet Vet for a second opinion. Because we agreed on the price, I did not go. And Dr Brad seemed to accept it in the end reluctantly. After leaving the clinic, I thought maybe I should take my Snow away as Dr Brad is not going to do his job properly now. No surprise, in his call he said he did not clear any of the cancer cells. To me we are operating to eliminate the fluid and the cause in her body. If it cannot be done, I would have chosen to be conservative and had the fluid drawn out without opening her up. I would have spent the $1200 draining her 20 times and she would still be alive. Instead of spending $1200 to have her killed!
These vets want quick money and do not care they took away your loved ones’ life! Also they are incompetent!!!

Recently took one of my cats, Squeak, in with a problem with her eye. I have just moved so needed a new vet and so glad I found these guys. They live up to all the positive reviews. Lovely staff, great with my cat, easy parking and reasonably priced. Removed a huge grass seed from my cat’s eye, gave me easy to administer liquid pain relief (so much better than pills) and now she’s almost healed and back to her normal mischievous self.

I can’t remember how long I’ve been seeing Dr Ian Hogben and his crew, but it’s been 6 dogs over the years ….and he’s been brilliant with them all. The staff are great, the vets caring but I keep going there … regardless of where I live, I’ve always gone to Grange Road. I’ve seen Dr Ian’s hair go gray!! They truly are a fabulous bunch, and my dogs run into the surgery they’re so pleased to go there. They’ve been there for us when we’ve had to let an old dog go (well more than one) and have been so supportive and sensitive, the good and the bad, and the sad – they’re simply fantastic.

I recently utilised Pawssum Mobile Vets Adelaide to provide euthanasia for my beloved 13 year old dog “Brownie”. The Vet was so gentle, kind and understanding for how hard this was. He spoke to my son and I about the process so there were no surprises and when the time came to say goodbye he gave us the opportunity to do so in private. He even placed Brownie’s fave stuffed toy in his arms when he took him away for transport. I could not recommend Pawssum Adelaide highly enough. Thank you so much for the work that you do. xx

Very happy with the service provided from Dr Edward. I had a sick cat on Friday evening. Phoned to request an appointment at 6:15pm and had a vet arrive to my house by 6:45pm. It was a horrible stormy day in Adelaide so I was very appreciative of the quick service even after hours. Bit on the pricier side but 100% worth the peace of mind it gave to me and my very anxious cat to be in the safety of his own home. He was able to do a quick assessment, provide an injection and antibiotics and be on his way. He was very patient with my scared cat who likes to hide! Overall happy cat and happy owner!

Hoi Chun Yau attended our home to check on our American Bulldog X, he’s a 56kg big sook and he smothered Hoi Chun with love, in which he responded so kindly.
He was thorough with his health check and it was nice to receive feedback on our boys overall health. Jax has life long allergies which are only fixed with medications, Pawssum were happy to write us a script during their visit.
Would highly recommend and would use again..

Frequently Asked Questions about Veterinarians in Adelaide
What types of animals do veterinarians in Adelaide typically treat?
Veterinarians in Adelaide typically treat a broad range of animals. While many focus on domestic pets like dogs and cats, many also provide care for birds, rabbits, reptiles, and small mammals. Some clinics may specialize in livestock, while others focus exclusively on companion animals. It's crucial to confirm a clinic’s species focus before scheduling an appointment.
How do I choose the right veterinarian for my pet?
Selecting a veterinarian is a personal decision. Consider factors like the clinic's location, hours of operation, and the veterinarian’s experience. Checking online reviews and seeking recommendations from friends or local pet stores can also be helpful. A good fit also involves comfort – both yours and your pet’s – with the veterinarian’s personality and approach.
What is the difference between a vet clinic and an emergency veterinary hospital?
A general vet clinic provides routine care like vaccinations, check-ups, and minor illnesses. An emergency veterinary hospital, on the other hand, is equipped to handle urgent and life-threatening conditions that require immediate attention, such as accidents, trauma, or sudden illnesses. It’s essential to know the location of your nearest emergency hospital for unexpected situations.
What are common preventative care services for pets?
Preventative care is crucial for maintaining your pet's health. Common services include annual vaccinations to protect against diseases, parasite prevention (fleas, ticks, worms), dental cleanings, and regular health checks. These services can often catch potential health problems early, leading to more effective treatment.
What should I expect during a routine check-up?
During a routine check-up, the veterinarian will typically perform a physical examination of your pet, checking their heart, lungs, eyes, ears, and skin. They may also discuss your pet’s diet, exercise habits, and any concerns you may have. Blood tests or other diagnostic tests may be recommended based on your pet's age and health history.
What are common signs that my pet needs to see a veterinarian?
Several signs may indicate that your pet needs veterinary attention. These include loss of appetite, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, difficulty breathing, excessive scratching, and any unusual behavior. If you notice anything concerning, it’s best to schedule an appointment promptly.
What are the costs associated with veterinary care in Adelaide?
Veterinary costs can vary significantly based on the type of service, your pet’s breed, and the clinic’s fees. Routine check-ups are generally less expensive than emergency or surgical procedures. It’s a good idea to discuss fees and payment options with the clinic beforehand. Many clinics offer pet insurance options.
Do veterinarians in Adelaide offer house call services?
Some veterinarians in Adelaide offer house call services, which can be particularly beneficial for pets that experience anxiety when traveling or for owners with mobility limitations. However, house call services are typically limited to routine care and may not be suitable for emergency situations. Confirm availability and fees before relying on this service.
What is the role of a veterinary nurse?
A veterinary nurse plays a vital role in the clinic. They assist the veterinarian with examinations, administer medications, provide nursing care, educate owners on pet care, and maintain clinic cleanliness. They are highly trained and contribute significantly to the overall health and well-being of the animals.
How can I prepare my pet for a visit to the veterinarian?
To help your pet feel more comfortable during a visit, try to keep them calm and relaxed. Bring a favorite toy or blanket. If your pet is anxious about car rides, try short, positive experiences in the car beforehand. Talking to them in a soothing voice can also help reduce stress.
