I’m on the fitness passport and dropped in on a weekday to purchase a pass to use the facilities outside of staffed hours. Very friendly staff, super easy process. First and last day used the basement location as I was doing some lifting and my metcons needed minimal space. Used the east adelaide location on the middle visit as I needed more space. Both gyms have everything you need if you’re happy to make some adaptations to your plans. Will definitely use again when I’m in the area.

Absolutely love Iron Industries! The equipment is top-notch, always clean and in great condition. The staff are super helpful, friendly, and always up for a chat or to offer advice when you need it. Membership rates are super reasonable, especially considering the quality of the gym and service.
My partner and I love coming in the mornings — the locations are perfect for us to smash out a solid session before work. It’s become part of our routine and something we genuinely look forward to.

Hardcore, old-school vibe with top-tier machines and free weights. Perfect for serious lifters — plenty of variety, no waiting, and an atmosphere that pushes you to go harder. Easily one of the best gym I’ve trained at in SA.

I spent two weeks as a casual visitor at Iron Industry Gym on Gouger and was impressed by the atmosphere. The blend of old-school and new machines gives it a raw, authentic feel. If I move back to Adelaide, I would definitely consider joining. Highly recommended.

Would do 3.5 stars if possible.
Nice hole in the wall style gym with some modern trappings, cool atmosphere, iron plates are always a bonus to any gym and some equipment that you don’t also get everywhere like a belt squat.
Unfortunately let down by a fair bit of the equipment being broken or in disrepair. Distinct lack of vertical pulling options.

I joined this gym because it’s close by and affordable, and it exceeded my expectations! The staff member who signed me up was lovely, the gym has everything you need to train and they even throw in some free PT sessions! While the staff isn’t around 24/7, they’re always friendly and helpful when available. Compared to my previous gym in the CBD, where the staff were often rude and unapproachable, this gym feels much more welcoming and supportive.
On a side note, it would be great to have some lockable lockers and more cardio options like stair masters, but overall pretty good :))

This gym truly exceeded my expectations! The environment is clean and well-maintained, and the equipment selection is diverse, perfect for people with different training needs. There’s not only the basic cardio machines but also a free weights area and a functional training section, catering to workouts of all intensities. The trainers are professional and friendly, always keeping an eye on your form and progress, offering helpful guidance and encouragement. What’s even better is the spacious showers and lockers, making it easy to freshen up after a workout. Whether you’re a fitness newbie or an experienced athlete, you won’t be disappointed here!

Dropped in for a few days while travelling and couldn’t have been happier with my choice to use Soul 365. Team extremely friendly, knowledgeable and motivating. It’s been almost 12 months since one of my mates first introduced me to Soul365.
I had never done CrossFit style training before. I had always done my own thing in traditional gyms. So doing classes was something different.
I was pretty nervous when I first started.
But 12 months on I can say joining Soul365 was one of the best decisions I’ve made for my training!
I love the group classes and all the great people I’ve met through the gym.
The programming from the coaches get you serious results (thanks Adam, Alex and Carly).
They run awesome community events (thanks Mark) which was good for me being new to Adelaide.
They are even pet and children friendly as well!
I couldn’t recommend these guys highly enough if you’re looking for a gym with world class programming, great coaches and great community spirit!
(And they do a great coffee and smoothie!)

Jetts at Adelaide city is an amazing Gym. If you’re also a traveller this is the gym you want to go to. It has everything. For those into calisthenics also rings and bars ( harder to find in all gyms ). Price is very reasonable daily or weekly. Go when manned- if you’re lucky and Gemma is on you will be greeted with the biggest smile and Philoxenia. Honestly been to lots of gyms around the world, Jets and Gemma aced the list.
Congrats and i will sign up ( thru Adelaide brunch) as it’s also national and international access as Gemma explained.

Jetts Adelaide City has been a great place to train whilst travelling interstate. The Club Manager, Gabbi, was super welcoming and very easy to talk to. She is passionate about ensuring that her members get what they want out of their training and the gym easily accommodates for different training styles – in my case, calisthenics. The gym is clean and the available equipment is high-quality. If you are even the slightest bit interested in trying out this gym, please reach out to Gabbi as she is highly qualified to tailor to your needs and help achieve your training goals.

Visited while in Adelaide during Gather Round. Went early at like 4:30am on Sunday morning. Arrived and there was nobody there unlike my local AF!
I found it to be a bit warm in there. I went upstairs to the cardio and weight machines.
Only missing one piece of equipment that I normally use.
Showers and toilets were clean. The cleaner actually came in to the gym while I was there.
If it was a tad cooler and had that one piece of equipment, it would be perfect!
See you during my next visit to Adelaide!

This is a clean and relatively modern gym. The drink fountain is actually cold which can’t be said about many other AF locations. However the equipment selection holds this back a lot which is unfortunate because there’s plenty of space. I’d like to see a linear hack squat, sissy squat, standing calf raise, and seated leg curl at a bare minimum to take this to a 3/5 star gym. Then adding some angled row machines and a belt squat could take it to a 4/5 star gym which would make it superb for an inner city location.

Please put the anti-perspirant away from the treadmill. It’s unbreathable when somebody sprays it when we are running. We really need fresh air when running, though it’s fragrance to some extent, but it’s not good for inhaling by such amount especially when running!

Upon renewing my training sessions, no new contract was signed, nor was the validity period clearly communicated. The trainer insisted on applying the original contract’s validity to the renewed sessions, which caused confusion and led to wasted sessions. Clearer communication of contract terms during renewal would greatly improve the client experience. Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience.

I usually go here after uni! Supportive and friendly team! However, the music is a bit odd and distracting giving such a bad vibe! Too strong and loud! Also most of machines are out of order so I have to use the dumbbells instead which is really sad. The trading hours changed! The elevator is always broken and it’s so annoying to use another way to the gym.

They’ve never fixed the broken machines. In the ladies’ gym, three treadmills have been broken for a long time; only one works.
I think they never check stock availability; there is often no toilet paper, paper towels, soap and no disinfectant.
I was in the toilet, as I was bursting, and I found no toilet paper.
I asked the clerk, and he told me to use my own towel to clean the equipment. People use their towels to wipe their sweat.
Temperature is too high even during the winter season.
I already spoke to the team about this, but nothing has changed.
The management team is really bad, and I feel sorry for the front desk team and cleaners. I heard they escalate issues to the manager every day, but nothing has changed. Some cleaners have even quit due to a lack of supplies.
I work at the city, so I have no choice; otherwise, I wouldn’t use it.

The staff don’t seem to care about the opening hours. It’s becoming more and more common for them to not turn up in the morning to let people in.
This morning there would have been 40-50 people either waiting, or giving up and leaving because nobody turned up to open the gym.
Unfortunately this isn’t the first time and it’s now a regular occurrence that the gym isn’t open at the advertised time of 6am. Most of the time it’s before 6:30am, however today was 7am before someone arrived to open.
We have been told there there will be key fobs coming to allow 24:7 access again, however it has now been months and when asking the manager, he advised he hasn’t been told if or when this will be made available for Rundle Mall.
It’s also very dirty with the bathrooms often not cleaned from the day before.
On the positive, the equipment is good quality and there’s an abundance of weight plates available.
If it wasn’t for the staff not caring about their members standing outside for over an hour (sometimes longer), this review would be much higher.
At this stage I won’t be renewing my membership, which is frustrating because it’s in the perfect location for me to train before work. It’s just a gamble whether you can actually get in or not.

☆ 1/5
The low annual membership price and equipment variety brought me in, but the gym has increasingly had more and more problems. I’ve been here for 1.5 years and so many treadmills have been out of order for a lot of that time, which is really inconvenient during peak busy times. It’s quite crowded now that it’s no longer 24/7, people who trained late at night / middle of the night (including myself) now need to go during the day – smaller time window equates to more people at once. We were told a fob system would be implemented so the gym could return to its former 24/7 access, but it’s been 5 months and nothing yet. Now that it’s crowded it’s almost impossible to use the seated row machine, there’s only one and it’s a popular piece of equipment, I’ve needed to substitute the exercise almost every time.
These things on their own aren’t a big deal and wouldn’t bother me, but it’s compounding and becoming a hindrance. I’m currently looking at other gyms for when my membership finishes, which is a shame because I liked this gym when I first joined.

Not 24/7 but call themselves 24:7 Gym.
It’s always crowded and dirty. Many people work out without a towel. But no one care
Many machines, especially those cardio machines are always broken.
For example, stair masters have been broken for more than three weeks, only one is usable but always someone using.
Not going to resign even if the price is cheap.

The environment is getting worse and worse. I have already cancelled my membership, but they are still deducting money from me. If I hadn’t gone there in person twice, no one would have replied to my messages. And I was told that only the money for three times could be refunded. It was a very bad experience.

It is so so good fitness club that I am in at the moment. I didnot think that I could benefit so much on body work out in 10 weeks changes at beginning, especially fat burning. While, in 7 weeks intake monitoring and body practice, I reached the fitness level— 56 kg of 166cm height. 23%fat remains.
Plus, the coaches are very professional & friendly, the atmosphere at the club is warm and welcome. Highly recommend.

I really like this gym. The gym has a welcoming, friendly, community vibe. I love that it has a pool. Occasionally I wish there was slightly more / different equipment but it has everything I really need. It’s kept clean and the staff are always friendly.

I’ve been with Freedom Fitness since early 2022, and I’ve been popping in with casual visits beforehand. Honestly, part of me wants to keep this place a secret – it’s that good. Where else in Adelaide can you book your very own lane for a swim in 40-minute slots? It’s a game changer, and one of the best covid legacies! The vibe here is fantastic, with a respectful and friendly community, staff included. if you’re looking to snag a lane during peak hours, make sure to book well in advance!

Absolutely the best trainer – Vanessa from Freedom Fitness, Adelaide! She genuinely wants her clients to reach their goals. Very supportive and encouraging. Her approach in training is something that every client requires. Very systematic and gradual learning approach. She genuinely loves her work and I can see that very much reflected in the training sessions that we do together! It makes a huge difference for the client when trainer genuinely loves what they do for work. So happy to have you as my trainer!

Our 16 y.o. son has been going to Freedom Fitness for a couple of months and loves it. I have to say the staff are beyond amazing. They go out of their way to look out for our son and mentor him towards his fitness goals. It’s more like a home away from home than just a gym. Very rare to find this kind of service these days! Well done to Peter and his staff.

Jacob went above and beyond to assist, even after realising I’d be accessing the gym through fitness passport. Very passionate about his work and deserves a raise!
Gym itself is decent with all your standard equipment. Great location!

Only a new member but loving this gym. Everyone is friendly and helpful and very welcoming and inclusive! Thanks to all at Goodlife.
Adding to my review now after 3 months membership. Still love this gym. Equipment in the weight room seems to be well looked after and maintained, and there is a good range. Have a really good PT – Luke Bull – highly recommend him – professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Thanks again Goodlife. I am really enjoying this journey.

Poor customer services and lack of transparency and a huge issue of ethics. I have been with them for nearly 2 years, under my contract it’s 14- day cancelling notice. When I asked the first time for cancellation, they sweet talked me for a free 4-week frozen period. But I still got charged for the week right after. I came in to the gym and gave the receptionist my card to check whether my account is frozen. He said no. So no action was taken when I requested. I was so annoyed and asked him to cancel on 13 June. My last payment was supported to be on 23 June, but they still tried to charge me for another 2 weeks after the last week of cancelling notice payment was made, then gave me an explanation saying it’s 30day notice not 14 days. I paid for extra 2 weeks plus late fees on the faults that I didn’t make. When I called in, this time it’s a female receptionist. I said one of the male reps said the cancellation notice is 14 days, the girl said “oh he is no longer working here” what kind of bullshit is that? So Goodlife has no responsibility of your employees training and information? Ex employees dont count? Very unreliable and unprofessional!

Located in the heart of Adelaide, not too far from Victoria Square, it’s one of the bigger Goodlife Health Clubs around. If you’re looking for a super modern new facility with state of the art equipment, you might be disappointed, but hey, if you’re looking for a HUGE variety of equipment and are just wanting an awesome pump or workout (in a historical/architectural building), they’ve definitely got everything you need. The gym is split across multiple floors (see map breakdown in the photos) and everything is kept pretty neat and tidy. The photos should also help you work out if there’s something available for you. The staff were very friendly when I visited.

Highly Recommend!!!
I just joined Goodlife and have had an amazing experience, from the customer service, club presentation and my first BodyPump class with Vanessa. I can hardly walk today and I cannot wait for my next workout.
Thanks Goodlife Team

They keep having issues with my direct debit even when I know for a fact they have my correct bank details and there’s enough funds in my account; it’s been many phone calls and in person chats with many promises they’d sort it out but the same recurring problem months later. I regret signing up with them tbh.
I much prefer Derrimuts for price, equipment, convenience, vibe etc anyway even with rumours of them shutting down due to questionable business practices.

Horrible customer experience. Visited the gym as a potential customer, ask the front counter staff for a tour and a no lock-in contract gym only membership. Not only he didn’t give me a gym tour, he first “filtered” it with a verbal question of whether I’m able to commit to them for 3 months or 6 months saying it’s not really a contract but I’ve to commit (which to me seems like a contract, and a scam in disguise of commitment). I said again, I’d like the option of a no lock-in contract membership and was just asking for pricing. He again incompetently gave me a cheaper pricing (which wasn’t that cheap) but with 12 months contract, which showed he wasn’t listening to me and only gave what he wanted to sell. He wasn’t even wearing a proper uniform, was wearing a casual plain shirt which looked very unprofessional. Then, when I asked again for no lock-in contract membership, he said he can’t help me with that. Well, that was a total shame and disappointment on him and the gym for not providing no lock-in membership and competitive pricing options, and he just lost a potential customer, as there are many other gyms that can provide both.

The best type depends on your fitness goals and budget.
How much do gym memberships typically cost in Adelaide?
Gym membership costs can vary widely. Expect to pay anywhere from around AUD $20 per month for basic access to a budget gym, to upwards of AUD $100 or more per month for premium facilities, group fitness classes, and personal training options. Introductory offers and promotional periods are often available, so it's wise to compare several options.
What should I consider when choosing a gym location?
Location is a key factor in gym selection. Consider gyms that are convenient to your home or workplace to increase your likelihood of consistent attendance. Factors like parking availability and public transport accessibility also contribute to ease of access, which can significantly impact your commitment to your fitness routine.
What facilities and equipment are commonly found in Adelaide gyms?
Most Adelaide gyms provide a range of facilities, including cardio machines (treadmills, ellipticals, bikes), weight machines, free weights (dumbbells, barbells), and functional training areas. Are trial periods or free passes common?
Many gyms in Adelaide offer trial periods or free passes to prospective members. This is a great opportunity to experience the gym's atmosphere, test out the equipment, and try a few classes before committing to a membership. Take advantage of these opportunities to ensure the gym aligns with your needs.
What are the cancellation policies like?
Before signing up for a gym membership, carefully review the cancellation policy. Many gyms require a notice period, and some may charge a fee for early termination. Understanding the terms and conditions regarding cancellation can prevent unexpected costs and complications later on.

Look for evidence of these practices, such as readily available cleaning wipes, visibly clean facilities, and staff focused on maintaining a hygienic environment.
