I have been a Commonwealth Bank customer for over two and a half years, and unfortunately, during this time, my account has been blocked twice without any prior notice. These situations have caused me significant inconvenience.

On both occasions, I was caught off guard when trying to make a purchase, only to find that my card had been declined — despite having sufficient funds in my account. The most recent incident happened while I was at the supermarket, which led to an embarrassing situation when I was unable to complete my payment.

Additionally, the account block disrupted my automatic debit payments, resulting in late fees and interest charges that could have been avoided. To resolve the issue, I had to visit a branch during business hours, which directly interfered with my work schedule.

What made the situation even more frustrating was being asked to answer a security question that I have no knowledge of and do not recall ever setting up. This further delays the process and adds unnecessary stress when all I want is to regain access to my own account.

I fully understand the importance of security measures, but I believe the way these processes are handled could be much more transparent, efficient, and respectful of customers’ time. A simple prior notification or a secure and quicker way to unlock the account — without needing to visit a branch — would already make a big difference.

I truly hope this feedback can contribute to improvements in your customer service and internal systems.

Make sure check the rate on internet before you decide to step in there. They start with very rubbish rate and if isn’t get questioned, they rip people off. Typical hit and miss business. Never come back. So better stay away.

I was almost scammed out of 100,000 yen (around AUD $1,000) here. This happened a few years ago when my mum brought a large amount of Japanese yen to pay my university tuition.
There were no CCTV cameras in the room, and the counter was designed so that customers couldn’t see what was happening on the staff’s side. They used a money-counting machine and counted the notes in front of us, but after counting ten notes, they suddenly disappeared behind the counter where we couldn’t see them.

Long story short, 100,000 yen went missing, and the staff claimed that this was the exact amount we had given them. But we were 100% sure of how much money my mum had brought from Japan. I honestly believe they tried to take advantage of us because we are Japanese and English is not our first language.

When we told them we were going to call the police, they suddenly got scared—probably because they knew they had taken a large amount—and eventually returned all the money to us.

Scamming people is not a legitimate way to run a business. I should have reported this to the police so your operations could be properly investigated. I’m sure we weren’t the first victims.
You should be ashamed of what you’ve been doing.

A good and honest money changer located in the Adelaide Central market. I placed an order online and paid using PayID. The pick up was scheduled for couple of days later but the money was ready for pickup within an hour. I’ve used them before and as always, the lady serving at the counter was very friendly, checked my ID, counted the money in front of me and put it in an envelope together with the tax invoice. Don’t hesitate to deal with them for your foreign currency exchange needs, you won’t be disappointed!

A lady named “An” deceived my friend, who is new to the country and not fluent in English, by promising to buy his USD and transfer funds to a Singaporean account. Knowing she couldn’t do this, she convinced him to sell his USD at a terrible rate, then refused to return it when he asked. After I called and warned her to either return his USD or face legal action, she realized her unethical practices were exposed and complied.

This was my first and last experience with them, and I strongly discourage anyone from dealing with them. Thankfully, our banks and financial institutions are reliable and supportive, especially toward immigrants and tourists.

I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with your service. Upon collecting my jewellery, I discovered that one of my bracelets was missing. This bracelet held great sentimental value as it was a gift from my grandfather during my childhood.

When I raised my concerns, I was told the bracelet had not been seen. I find this response unsatisfactory and unacceptable. The bracelet was valuable, and I am left feeling that it has been deliberately withheld.

They charged me 20$ plus more dollars, just because I chose to repay my loan from my card. I don’t know how can any business just charge 20$ plus more dollars for just choosing to pay with card. It is insane, what the hell, never had came across an encounter like today in my whole life.

Be very wary of this business. They sell jewellery and do not tell you it is “estate” jewellery. = second hand. Staff apparently don’t know at point of sale that it is second hand. But when piece of jewellery is returned due to being a faulty product then they state that it is an “estate piece”. I received a refund after a month or more of back and forth. A refund in February of the price I paid in December. Another piece bought at the same time broke within 3
weeks of purchase. This is not a business I will ever recommend to anyone nor will I ever purchase from them again. Staff have their hands tied by management. They were kind but unable to assist.

Had some scrap jewellery. Wanted me to name a price. I just wanted to know what they paid per gram. They said for that you need to pay $10. I named a price. She ridiculed it and offered me $200. Didn’t weigh it. Didn’t. Look at it. I got $890 at cash converters for a broken gate bracelet. Broken amethyst ring on gold value per gram. Do not sell jewellery here. Poor business model for the seller with no upfront clarity. Edit to respond to owner reply. I did advise how much I expected but the attitude of ridiculing that price and not advising what they would pay for scrap gold seems manipulative. Nothing like what was suggested in the adverts and good old cashies was quick, easy, no attempts by them to ridicule price requests to buy at a ridiculously low price. I wouldn’t buy jewellery from Adelaide exchange jewellers based on their attitudes for a simple scrap gold sale….of course I could pay them $10 to haggle in a less demoralising way? Although I didn’t pay the $10 I just went elsewhere so I can’t guarantee that $10 will improve the experience

WORST BUSINESS EVER, this place should be SHUT DOWN. Got there at 4pm wanting to exchange some gold, and literally got stuck in their stairwell of the building, apparently the people that work there are meant to let you up in the lift, but the lady had no idea what was going on, I can’t believe she even was an employee there, how can you know so little about your own workplace??! It was unbelievable.

I came prepared with an asking price for my jewellery and it turns out I under estimated myself. The lovely lady took a look at the jewellery after I said my asking price, she assesser it and told me the true value which was more than I asked for. They then bought my jewellery for the higher price!
