I received one of the best drinking and party experiences in here. Bartenders are super professional and I can feel the passion through their hospitable attitude. Tayla made delicious pear-fection (her recipe) for our group and Lottie catch our mood recommending the most suitable American whisky from that. Manager named Alexia always has her warming smile on when she host different group and DJ brings the best dancing vibe. One of our friend didn’t quite know about what she wants and Drew helped her find her spirit perfectly. Love this place and this team!! (And beautiful decoration style!!! ) *And unmentioned team members they have been doing great as well cuz the experience drinking here is really impressive ✨

We popped in yesterday and loved it.
Massive (like huuuge) selection of drinks, really good service, and fun, easygoing vibes. There was a wine tasting on, so we shared a lovely bottle of Sangiovese while a DJ played chilled tunes. Intimate, a bit quirky, and just a really good night out.

We had a fabulous time at Bank St Social. We were celebrating our 10 Year Anniversary and were welcomed kindly by a beautiful staff member named Rose.

We don’t get out to Adelaide often, so we had to use Google to find our place of choice. We spotted this place and decided to give it ago, we booked in using the free online system.

We booked from 5pm for drinks and were the only people at the venue for 30mins or so. We had great conversations with the staff and were delighted to see the variety of drinks and foods available.

We had multiple of different drinks ranging from whiskey to cocktails. We ended up ordering the charcuterie board and it had great variety and amounts of food. I have never seen so much prosciutto at any venue in the past [thanks chef team!].

We finished the evening off by ordering a whiskey/chocolate pairing board, which was absolutely perfect. It was hand delivered to us by Drew who was most definitely a whiskey connoisseur!

Thank you to the team, and if we’re ever in Adelaide CBD without the children again, we will be back!

First time coming here and enjoyed the experience. Friendly staff with plenty of customers coming through from tournament and professional players right down to the casual first timers such as mysellf.

CrowdDJ helps pick some music, good assortment of drinks available. Didn’t have food so can’t comment on that.

Tables were clean, plenty of seating and being allocated a quieter corner away from the pros was a nice move.

Didn’t order any food here so can’t comment about food. Place is on the basement but directions from the main entrance are easy to follow. Cocktail drinks are affordable. Pool table is hired by the hour and you only pay for the time you used up. There’s ample spaces between the pool tables which is good.

For a no BS pub steak in Adelaide, Black Bull is the place to go. $65 for a 1kg rump is such good value compared to virtually every other pub and even the steakhouses. Tomahawk is on point as well, steaks are always hot on arrival and perfect medium rare.

The steak was great. The mushroom sauce had a strong usual flavour that kind of got better when you ate more but seem to lack mushrooms. The chips were great but the salad was a bit of a joke. The coleslaw on some other people’s dishes looked good and also the veges and mash. Servers were very polite and helpful even though the wait from the kitchen seemed a little long. Only have Pepsi Max or water for diabetics and is a little bit noisy.

A group of 11 of us had dinner here recently after hearing good reviews about the steak offers. For starters we had the potato wedges and salt n pepper calamari to share. We also had two bottles of red wine and numerous glasses of beer. We had a variety of 7 different type of beef steak, 2 kangaroo steak, a barramundi with chips and a chicken parmigiana. Everyone having the beef steak commented their steak was cooked nicely. The barramundi was great too and so was the chicken parmigiana. However the two having the kangaroo steak commented their steak was quite dry as they ate into it as there was not enough sauce. They poured some of their red wine onto it so that they could finished it. Overall, everyone agreed they enjoyed their choices. Service was good but not exceptional.

Went to Woolshed for a night out and had a really disappointing experience. One of our friends (Indian guy, visiting from Sydney) was refused entry because the bouncer called his Tommy Hilfiger jacket a “Sports” jacket. It was just a regular one with a small logo.

He even took it off, but was still told, “Once you’re refused, you’re banned for 24 hours.” Meanwhile, others in much more casual clothes were let in without an issue.

Funny how this “rule” seems to show up selectively. Judging by other reviews, this place seems to treat certain ethnicities differently. At this rate, even Armani would be labelled gym wear.

We had already been waiting a long time, and after all that, the whole group had to leave.
Woolshed clearly isn’t the place for everyone. Won’t be back.

Came here for some drinks with friends and booked a booth. Was a great experience, amazing atmosphere and staff were lovely and attentive. Great value, especially for the shots and the pitchers. Ordered 2 different pitchers (Zombie and Gone in 60 seconds) and they were delicious. However we were drinking for 2 hours straight and barely felt a thing, had 7 shots each and also half- 3/4 of a pitcher each and barely felt tipsy at the end. Great experience for a cocktail night, however wouldn’t recommend coming for predrinks here if you are planning to go out after.

First time checking it out last night for a friends birthday who reserved a booth.

Cool little underground bar with good vibes.
Not a place you would go to if you wanted a quiet drink and a chat.
Booths were comfortable, music was good.
Bar staff were great! Friendly and very apologetic for the 50 minute wait time on the cocktails.
Drink Menu has a good range of other beverages if you don’t want a cocktail.

Came in last night with a group of 10, stayed from 10:20pm-11:45pm hoping to stay and have our night here, everyone was buying drinks and having a good time when at 11:45pm security and staff are coming up to us saying they close in 5 minutes? Yet online it says open until 2am/3am they kicked out at least twenty people from the bar saying times up everyone go home, how disappointing, terrible service on how they told us also, with torches and rude security coming up to everyone, could’ve been done much nicer, by 11:30pm people where packing up chairs etc. we would’ve stayed all night until close buying shots and cocktails and double drinks, but unfortunately Fumo Blu’s is not a party place, won’t come back for future parties and functions now I know they close whenever they feel early on in the night, I can’t see this place lasting very much longer if they can’t afford to stay open for a few hours. that’s unfortunate

The music is absolutely dreadful, the resident DJ lineup that they use frequently aren’t DJing they just play from a playlist and that playlist is the same crap EVERY WEEKEND! Resident DJs including JLC should try and find a new career path, man is detrimental to the clubbing scene. We literally requested Dom Dolla and got told it was too hard, it’s a main room? And they went back to play Teenage Dream by Katy Perry Don’t go here if you want to go clubbing cause this ain’t it! Main room music is dreadful, the floors are always sticky and the toilets always seem to be broken or absolutely destroyed, there’s no care shown by staff to keep this place on top of it’s clientele. It’s a joke, not worth $20 just to get through the door and then $10 for the nastiest drinks I have ever tasted. I actually can’t believe this is the standard of clubbing in Adelaide, appalling.

Place was packed on Friday night. Tried the cocktails, they were good.

Staff was helpful and music was good. Rooftop seating is pleasant too.

Will visit again

Absolutely racist security. Had like 2 drinks in 4 hours or so before heading to the club, security let all my friends in except me and another mate of mine and we were just starting our night so we were pretty sober (we are both Sri Lankan and brown skin). Mind you my friends who went in were absolutely trashed but were white. All my mates came out of the club and went elsewhere immediately but absolutely disgusted with the discrimination me and my friend faced. It was black bouncer as well, not that it matters. I don’t generally go out of my way to leave a review but I wanted to shed some transparency on how this place is managed.

Really glad to see the ol Dog & Duck get a fresh update with the help of Fabric! Really liked the layout and look of the place! Very nice bar and door staff who were having fun and making the vibe really nice, and drinks were ridiculously well priced across the board! Music could be a little bit more innovative or different, it really feels like Woolshed or Cherry 2.0 instead of sticking out like Dog & Duck did, but it’s mostly good!

Only real issue I have is the security, who get a bit aggressive at times and take away from the atmosphere. I was pretty tired after having a good night of drinking, and took a nap on one of the couches on the main floor to take a break, only to be woken up very aggressively by a security guard and escorted out as if I had gotten into a fight. I do understand that there were a lot of people there on the opening night but it would be nice if the security could respect those who haven’t done anything wrong and be more polite in asking them to leave if necessary.

Besides that, really good place, nice to see the revamp be so successful, hopefully it lasts! Will definitely be coming back – albeit wishing that some elements were a little more improved!

10/10. I hadn’t heard of this spectacular Adelaide venue until recently when my friend decided to hold a joint birthday / hens evening here!

Absolute Adelaide rooftop GEM. I did zero research, paid my fee and turned up

This place actually has something that resembles customer service, which you don’t see often in many places these days.

Greeted by a wonderful door lady who checked us in and showed us up in the lift.

We helped our self to some blankets on the way in as it’s a cool evening – nice touch!

Prompt service at the bar, but what was even better was the amazing staff that kept checking in on us regularly.

I want to give a super mention to Kaiden who was an absolute delight – Its lovely to see somebody who enjoys helping people working this hard who is a crowd pleaser

The performers I found to be very talented and tasteful

Cannot wait to come back again

Honestly such an amazing place! We always have a great time, accepting of all types of people, and very accommodating. If you ever feel uncomfortable they will always step in to help!
It’s great coming here, I always have a good time with my partner and enjoy getting to support the artists who work so hard, and are so amazing! Everyone here is always so lovely and welcoming, it’s a breath of fresh air. Can’t recommend this place enough! It’s great for a fun night out whether you want to have a date night, or socialise with others!

Coolest venue in the city! Been a couple of times for the Burlesque Saturday nights, and loved it both times. Great roof top views, an intimate seating area around a small swimming pool, lots of attention to small details, exceptional table service, great cocktails, including pacers and mocktails. We definitely plan on making it a regular haunt!

Nice rooftop burlesque bar.
Have been here a few times for Hens parties and always had a good time.
The only thing we’ve never enjoyed is the way staff arrange seating. Unsure why this is necessary. Especially when you’ve already been sitting and comfortable for a while, why move people? When you’re still using the same amount of seats and the same amount of tables…

Went here for Decadence & Debauchery as part of the fringe. Loved the French, European feel – get cosy with your neighbours – super loved the show – 100 points for atmosphere but you’ve gotta mix’n mingle with others seated nearby to be part of it and make the most of it. Take a seat at a table, but someone is sure to sit next to you. Treated ourselves to a bottle of prosecco – lovely. They will bring it out to your table – very chic! Love, love, loved it here. Brings back memories of London and Soho. And the show was amazing and super fun – girls proud of themselves no matter what their shape, nationality or firm. Super uplifting

Mary’s is really Adelaide’s only gay club. If you want a night out somewhere inclusive, where you can be yourself, have fun, and dance your heart away, Marys is the go to (unless you dislike pop music).

The drag shows – fantastic. The venue / layout – perfect. The staff and the overall vibes – .. sadly can be hit or miss. Let’s get into it.

Starting off with the staff. Some of the workers at Marys are the sweetest and friendliest people you will ever meet on a night out, whilst others are the complete opposite. Generally, there are really good people on the door, which I think is the most important. It’s such a great feeling when the vibes are high lining up because the door staff and security are bringing that energy from the start, so hats off to them. This is very rare to see at other clubs in Adelaide. Unfortunately, the good service sometimes ends once you’re inside. I would not describe a lot of the bar staff as friendly. Too many of the bar staff are only nice to the people they know, and quite sour to everyone else. It almost makes you not want to go get a drink. Now, the biggest issue I actually have with the bar staff here is the speed. My friends and I joke about Marys having the second slowest bar in Adelaide, behind only wax, and if you have been to wax, you already know. It’s very clear that the hiring process for the bar staff is more of a social check than requiring properly experienced bartenders. This is a club, one of the busiest bar environments you can get, you need people who can handle that. If you hire people who don’t have experience in an environment like that, then you need really good processes in place to upskill them. Now, I never really realised this as an issue until I went to Melbourne, and man, the clubs there, those bartenders are pumping out drinks unbelievably fast. It’s not all bad though, the schlongs are fantastic and the water jugs on the sides of the bars are something I think every club should be doing.

Next up the music and the overall vibes. For anyone reading this who hasn’t been, it’s all pop music, non-stop. Even the upstairs r&b saturdays… c’mon, who are you kidding, it’s just regular pop playing up there too. The themed music Friday nights are some of the best nights out, Period. That first Chappel night was insane. The vibes on the dance floor are very good. Marys is one of the last clubs in Adelaide where everyone is actually dancing. Overall, it is a great atmosphere, and I would highly recommend for anyone into pop music who is looking for a good night out in Adelaide. However, sometimes it can kind of feel like a main character off, where people are just trying to be the best, and the hottest, and the most fun, and that can feel quite toxic. Almost as though people lose sight of the fact that the club is a place to let the music set you free and just be yourself. There’s nothing management can do about this, but I thought it is worth mentioning for anyone deciding whether Marys is a place they should visit.

Overall, very good atmosphere. Music is good if pop is what you’re into. The dancefloor is actually dancey (which sadly can be rare nowadays).

Lastly, please please remember this is an inclusive space. Be respectful, and most importantly, have fun.

Had one night in town solo. This place came recommended for being a good rainbow bar. The music was good, the vibes were good. Drinks were… weaker than I’m used to, but maybe that’s a locality thing.

The mixed crowd and cliquey groups made it hard to find boys to dance/hang with. Not the fault of the venue, but definitely a vibe to know about for any solo travelers out there.

Still, the variety of people and fun atmosphere were worth it. If I ever end up in Adelaide again, I will probably come

I visited last weekend while on a trip to see friends in Adelaide. While here two girls dumped a drink on my gay male friend for seemingly no reason and he was obviously very upset. When I approached security they were sympathetic and assured us that they did not tolerate this behaviour here and asked us to point out the girls. A while later we then found out that management refused to kick the two girls out as they were apparently ex-employees. Disappointing..

I love this place. Went there to celebrate a joint birthday with two of my friends and absolutely loved it. It was my second time there and my best friend’s first time (she loved it). Left the early morning and got to start of my 31st, I felt safe there and that is saying something since I have anxiety and trust issues. The atmosphere is wonderful especially the dancers and DJ. So worth going here!

I’ve just recently come out amd it was suggested I came here. I was blown away. The staff are amazing so sweet and friendly, kinda cute too hehe. The security team was phenomenal. As a queer person its rare to have people in those postitions actually give a damn.I had a run in with a mean person and the guards 18 and 2 were so quick to sort it out for me (thank you both from the bottom of my heart). They got the guy amd removed him from the venue in a flash. They wernt overly agressive but they were sure to let him know that behaviour is not tollerated nor welcome at marys. They were very supportive amd understanding, super friendly and approachable. I’ve never felt so safe and looked after.
The drag shows were amazing, Eli delight (Hope i got her name right) she was my favourite. Kane enable was a very close second (sorry kane its those legs…..) I think I just found my forever club. Thanks guys to all of you at marys poppin much love hugs and kisses will be seeing you every week from here on out. It’s my new happy place.

Had some friends visiting from Melbourne so took them to Rocket on Friday night and the vibes were amazing all round. Drinks were slightly pricey but worth it for the experience you get at this club. The staff out front were so lovely, the short one was super sweet and so was the one inside. Was glad to be able to give my friends the proper Adelaide experience.

When it came time to be let in I was getting my License from my wallet at the front of the door. I was told by the security guard to show my ID to another bouncer standing outside of the line. When I walked over to him he told me to go away. I asked him why and he asked how many drinks I had and I told him (3). He accused me of lying and said that I was sent over to him because I was too drunk.

I was pretty clear with him that I was not lying and I was clearly not drunk, talking fine, standing fine, and so on. He told me to go speak to the other guy again. When I did, he asked me how many drinks I had, and I answered, he laughed and said “if you were honest I would have let you in” which was obviously a lie because he was not planning on letting me in anyway. He told me to go back to the other guy and said “he’s the boss go talk to him”. When I spoke to him, I asked him why he thought I was drunk and he kept giving childish responses like “nothing, I’m kicking you out for no reason” and “the police are walking past if you want to ask them”. I told him that he was obviously saying it to get rid of me because the police were not going to make them let me in.

At this point, my friend who had been let in, was waiting for me at the side of the entrance, where he was told he was allowed to stand but after he mentioned that he was waiting for me, the bouncer that checked my ID and his buddy grabbed him under the arms and threw him into me.

Then the guy I was sent to and the guy that checked my ID (and assaulted my friend) kept saying “it’s not my decision, go speak to the other guy” amongst other things like telling me I’m “bullshitting” and to “piss off”. By this point it was obvious the guy I was sent to and two guys that assaulted my friend were making fun of me by sending me back and fourth because they kept looking at each other and laughing while being rude to me. Then when I got annoyed at them for laughing, they started yelling at us and the security manager came out and pulled me and my friend aside to talk to me about what happened.

He explained that they have a job to do and it is within their rights to decline someone based on a “visual assessment” of how drunk someone is. I acknowledged that, but I made a point of how rude they were in doing so, and how they did not even tell me what was going on until I asked. He said that he still cannot let me in because he has to stand by their decisions, which is pretty poor given the fact that I had demonstrated that I was not intoxicated like they were saying.

He was agreeing with whatever I said to him and it was clear to me that he was just trying to get rid of me and my friend, he said that he will review the footage and if what I am saying is true, it will be addressed. Then I asked if I could be let know what the outcome was, his response was “these guys are pretty replaceable, if you don’t see them standing here, then you know it was dealt with”. Was annoying because if he handled the situation properly, he would have gotten my contact details. He obviously had no plans of addressing the situation and advised us to go somewhere else to continue the night (it was 15 minutes before lockout at this point), but my question is, if he thought that I was sober enough to go somewhere else, why not let us in here?

Needless to say, I was really annoyed at what had happened, and even more annoyed that after having agreed with me that what happened was wrong. The manager still didn’t let me in or do anything to resolve the situation beyond speaking to me (i.e getting my contact details, asking them to apologies, or letting me in).

Even after having written an email to rocket rooftop bar about it, I was not surprised when I was not told how this was dealt with and the same people were standing at the door when I returned, giving me the same attitude.

Strap yourselves in.

I am what my friends call a rocket rat – or I used to be. Back in the glory days I was going to rocket every weekend dancing my little heart away, getting my life. As you can imagine, rocket will always have a soft spot in my heart but my feelings have changed over the past few years, as has the overall vibe and experience.

Starting off with the music, I really like the music at rocket. On the bar floor it is housey, and electronic, and dancey, but still a lot of popular songs so people who aren’t particularly into those genres will still have a good time. Now, I love the music upstairs on the rooftop. On a good night, it is very disco. But this really isn’t for everyone, and I know a lot of people who hate the more lowkey disco house that is played upstairs, but that’s all personal preference. To each their own.

Next the overall club vibes. Now I don’t know about yall, but for me, the club is a place to dance. Rocket’s dancefloor is very hit or miss. Some nights it is going off, its is a party, it is a movie, we are getting our liifee, and other nights.. honey, more like a stand floor. So, you just have to manifest that you get lucky but I will add – if you want the dancefloor vibes to be high, you need to bring the high vibes yourself. Lots of people are too scared to be the first dancing, or they feel embarrassed, but you just gotta let the music set you free. If that doesn’t sound like something you can do, then maybe the club isn’t the place for you.

Bar service is pretty good, but can be slow at times with staff talking to each other. Door girls.. oh door girls. Yall. Sometimes they are super sweet and sometimes its giving sour candy by lady gaga ft black pink. I know the door girls have to be somewhat strict, that’s their job. But at the same time, the line and the entry is where the vibe of the venue begins and they need to get those vibes going at the door, otherwise the inside suffers. I must also add that there is a hint of discrimination at the door. One night I was lined up, quite late 1:30/2am ish, there was almost no line at that point. A group of arab blokes were just ahead of us in the line and one of the door girls kept saying to them “It’s very busy, we’re at capacity the line could be a while like 40 mins to an hour” seemingly trying to convince them to leave. Sure enough, the left the line, then she turned to us and said something along the lines of “we don’t want their type in here. they cause problems” and next minute me and my friends were inside in no time. I was taken back; all my friends were. This was one of my favorite places to come and enjoy myself and meet new people, and to find out it was being run in a discriminatory way. I was devastated.

Finally, somewhat tying back into my dancing point I just want to touch on how I feel it has changed over the years. Very obviously, people don’t dance like they used to. This isn’t unique to rocket though, lots of clubs are suffering. They are becoming, as I said, a stand around fest. If you want a boogie in town, especially if you are out for a dance by yourself, I would not recommend coming here – not anymore.

The responsibility is on us, the people, to bring back the once legendary vibes. Even the staff and their friends, I see them mostly sitting around upstairs not dancing either. Maybe that’s the vibe rocket is now going for, and if so, that’s ok. But I miss what it used to be. I miss being able to come here by myself and dance till dawn with others who are there the same. 5 stars if it were 3 years ago, -2 because the vibes have changed.

Also, one final final point for those wondering, I see you – this is the go to club for the DL bi men of Adelaide, trust, if you’re looking.. yall know where to go.

Probably the worst place I’ve ever encountered. Whoever was the girl sitting taking entry at the door at 10:45pm on Saturday 7th of June was absolutely horrible. Her attitude and demeanour was appalling. I think her customer service needs to be reviewed. I understand you have rules but treating customers and people in general that way is absolutely appalling. We were kicked out for wearing a hat as she spoke to us with disgusting profanity and told we were to throw our hats out and line up all over again or we would be removed after another worker informed us we were fine to go through. We were nothing but friendly and understanding and queried why we wouldn’t be allowed in with a hate and she spoke to us with such a horrible profanity and language that it was borderline bullying.

Security personnel are trained to identify individuals who are visibly intoxicated and may refuse entry or, in some cases, ask them to leave for their own safety and the safety of others. Designated individuals are often given a friend to look after. Responsible behavior is strongly encouraged.

What are the usual closing times for nightclubs?

Most nightclubs in Adelaide generally have a closing time of 3:00 AM or 4:00 AM on Friday and Saturday nights. However, some venues may have different hours for special events or themed nights. It’s always a good idea to check the specific club’s website or social media for their operating hours.

Are there any nearby transportation options after closing time?

After nightclubs close, transportation options can be limited, but various solutions are available. Taxis and ride-sharing services like Uber and Didi are common. Some public transportation services, such as buses and trains, may have reduced schedules late at night. Planning your transportation in advance is always recommended.
