I can’t thank DBH Lawyers/Jessica Nguyen, and team enough for their outstanding work on my WorkCover case. From the very beginning, they were professional, compassionate, and incredibly knowledgeable about the complexities of the WorkCover system.

They took the time to understand every detail of my situation, kept me informed throughout the entire process, and always made me feel supported. Their attention to detail and strategic approach ultimately led to a successful outcome that I’m truly grateful for.

My husband and I updated our Wills etc with Rod. He is very professional and answered all questions we were concerned about. His guidance regarding our affairs made us feel assured that we were being looked after in the best possible way. Right from the start Rod made us feel welcome and comfortable in the knowledge we chose the best person to handle anything we may require in the future. He also gave us some home truths about what we should be doing now but just hadn’t got around to it, so very grateful for his advice.

Our neighbour’s daughter was in the process of finalising her mother’s estate and during a casual conversation we mentioned our plans to update our Wills and asked for any recommendation. She was happy to recommend Genders and Partners where her mother’s Will and her own were arranged as well as other close friends – a solid word of mouth recommendation.
We contacted Rod to arrange an appointment and he provided costs and helpful information before we attended the first meeting. Rod clarified potential questions with skill and knowledge, many before we thought to ask, and gave us sound direction on areas to consider for the final documents. We now have peace of mind everything is in order to make it easier for our adult children and very happy to recommend Rod Genders.

We were fortunate enough to meet Mr Genders through my aunt, who was a long term client.
When she passed and it came time to execute her will and distribute her estate we went back to Genders and Partners to seek assistance with legal advice and Probate.
So glad we did.
Rod and Lyn Genders made the whole process very simple, professional, and uncomplicated.
After only two face to face meetings the entire Probate process was set in motion, and followed through to completion.
We are a little advanced in years and the digital world can sometimes be daunting, but Rod and Lyn managed all that for us. Signing documents remotely was as simple as clicking on a link and the job is done.
Highly recommend the very friendly, knowledgeable, meticulous, and very professional services of Genders and Partners.

My 2 brothers and I used Varga lawyers for my mums estate, she had previously used the previous owner for her will and we thought it would be a painless process. My mum was 96 and her estate we thought was very simple. We found Varga frustrating really with me being the executor and being interstate everything took a lot longer and was way more expensive than the original quotation. My brothers and I would not use Varga lawyers for any future work if I lived in S.A.

Wal Heinrich

As fate would have it, my father-in-law died a few months before my brother. My brother-in-law was the executor of my father-in-law’s estate and my brother nominated me as his executor. Two years before he died, my brother had a stroke that left him in a wheelchair. Katrina visited him in hospital and prepared his will for him before he died. Because my brother had died months after my father-in-law, I got to witness what it was like to be an executor from observing my brother-in-law. Every time I saw him he would spend about an hour telling me how hard it was to be an executor, how much work was involved, and how he would never do it again. When it became time for me to be the executor, I said I would get Katrina to do all the hard work for me. My brother-in-law protested and said it would cost too much. But I said that I didn’t care how much it cost, I wasn’t going to go through all those torturous actions that he went through. So I asked Katrina to do it all for me. I only met her once to deal with a few formalities and then we communicated by phone and email. It was indeed very complex, getting Probate, paying outstanding bills, dealing with his bank, arranging payments to beneficiaries, and so forth, but Katrina did it all while I just simply authorised her actions every so often and did other things she requested that only I could do. In the end the amount she charged me was quite modest and about what I expected, far short of what my brother-in-law predicted. Plus her expertise enabled her to dodge legal pitfalls that could have entrapped me if I had tried to do everything by myself. When it came to paying tax on my brother’s estate, Katrina liaised expertly with my brother’s accountant, thus creating a seamless flow of financial information that made dealing with the tax office a breeze. Katrina is excellent and I proudly recommend her to you.

My sister and I had an issue with settling my mother’s estate. We spoke to a number of reasonably high profile solicitors including some recommended by the Law Society. Collectively they filled us with fear as to the complexity of our matter and the subsequent cost. Will lifted the veil on all this and provided an effective and economic solution. He has a schedule of his charges which is so much fairer than the usual “5 or 6 minute block” used by many firms. And to top all this off, he is such a courteous and affable man. Please consider using him, we need more solicitors like him. Michael

Will Gray from Gray Matters Legal was engaged as our legal representative. Will researched what was a complex interstate dispute and updated us with progress at regular intervals and milestones. A specialized legal team was formed as part of a proposal and an action plan was drawn up. The pricing structure at Gray Matters gave us the confidence of communication without the added costs normally associated with the legal industry.
Throughout the mediation process Will was a calming influence with the tools to advance negotiations. Ultimately, a resolution was reached, and I firmly believe we could not have received a better outcome and saving us thousands in the process.

Mark Gustavsson & Associates, as a team, are everything you hope to find when seeking legal advice/counsel. After dealing with them on a couple of occasions, I was pleasantly surprised to find that they consistently exceeded my expectations when it came to hiring a legal professional.

As Principal Solicitor, Mark’s humility, transparency and strong moral compass has certainly rubbed off on his team. There is no better feeling than knowing that the legal team you rely on are guided to doing what is right for you and not what is simply profitable for them.

No doubt that these guys are setting the tone for the rest of the industry. Keep it up!

I’ve known Mark for a few years and recently got in touch to get some legal assistance. He was more than happy to get things sorted in less than a week for me. He is professional, prompt and so dedicated to his clients success. I highly recommend him and the team to anybody seeking any legal council or assistance, they will not let you down and will take the time to walk you through your options without making you feel scared or unsure about anything. Would give 10 stars if I could.

Update re the firms response. I have been in direct contact with the firm to try resolve, many times. They just ignore me and hold on to my funds, partially taken from trust without approval & partially for work that wasn’t what was asked for , or used/ useable/ didn’t work started from scratch elsewhere. I’ve started a complaint with the Judicial review commissioner & will likely have to go through magistrates & pay for a lawyer (& seek those extra thousands in addition) given that I’m up against a lawyer. Essentially if you’re in a stressful situation & you need someone to help you manage it, be aware that you may end up with double the stress and two horrid matters if you choose the wrong lawyer. Horrifying

——

I’ve had a really bad experience. I asked for a letter with my legal rights for a matter (real estate firm acting outside of legal bounds), I was told I don’t need the legal rights listed and not to bother and this will get the result. It didn’t, I paid because of the back and forth & them saying it seems it will work – shouldn’t have should have gone elsewhere and got the legal rights letter of demand I wanted/needed for future recourse.
.
I had another (primary matter), neighbour tree & house damage issue, and I had an invoice racked up of thousands without anything getting done. Noting that my new lawyer didn’t need any of that, hence it’s has not charged even 1/10th for the same amount of work and that’s even with a 30% more per hour cost due to 20yrs experience. It’s been 2hrs of charge with them (so under 1k) and I’ve gotten further in that time with zero delays or errors.
So much time wasted with uselessss back and forth, letters to client and instruction letters issued in the wrong name or with spelling errors in a key name, on every doc I saw that was issued (without exception, x3 back to back). An unusable expert report was done and Mark tried to convince me to use it, what a disaster so lucky I didn’t and moved on.
.
They’re now keeping my 2.5k in trust and the extra $450 for a letter that isn’t what I asked for that didn’t work the way they wanted to do it (vs the way I did, outlining future legal options). Tricked in to paying it told it worked but once I paid they didn’t follow up with client given all the concerns with them being made known and cancelling the larger (tree) matter, and it achieved zero.
.
It seems with only a few years experience setting up a firm, just before COVID, very green, very painful for me. With the delays and costs I’m in a worse position than before and now have to go through an external process to fight to have my funds returned from them, on top of the dozens of hours on end & o going for the matters themselves.
.
Mark seemed so nice at first & even the first time I flagged some concerns. However. When I wasn’t tol the first meeting would be charged & was asked to sign an agreement in person then wasn’t sent a copy of that to know terms & was invoiced – I wasn’t happy to pay but thought I’ll put it in trust and see if we go ahead decently thinking it’s safe in trust & it was taken out of it based on agreement terms for which they forgot to send me a copy to review/ know…I should have stopped then and not gone ahead but the hoped it was a one off, they were busy and apologised – generally called or emailed back promptly once I chased them. It’s never a one off. You shouldn’t need to chase them up.
.
I hope this helps others looking to use this firms services. I would recommend going with one with 15yrs experience. I can’t believe I’m being charged 3k and absolutely nothing I needed was done, and the stress added is more than before I started. Guys. I would engage with care. -S (-snr property professional, in my 40s)

Ps- The firm I am now with. Brilliant. Zero issues. I can update this review in coming months to write who they are & share /refer once I’ve worked with them for an entire case.
