A genuine strong case was just brushed off casually after taking down details and debiting the fees. The law is for the people, if you cannot provide genuine service to common man, please do not take fees. What is measures to undertake for refunding the fees?? Take the cases that you are confident. was not at all confident, courageous or prepared with many clauses during vetting them. Were fumbling and struggling to answer a lot during vetting. This is a red flag. Just paid sweat blood money for nothing. This place is just a dead end. I called Maurice Blackburn hoping to speak with a lawyer in Adelaide about a very personal matter. Instead, I was routed to a Melbourne-based receptionist who insisted I answer a set of scripted questions before I could even be considered to speak with someone local.

When I explained that I wasn’t comfortable disclosing sensitive details to someone who wasn’t legally qualified, she made no effort to support me or offer an alternative. I was told I could call back if I was willing to go through the process — no empathy, no understanding, just a dead end.

It felt like a cold, bureaucratic system — not what you’d expect from a firm that claims to support people through difficult situations. I walked away feeling more dismissed than helped.

Unprofessional. Unhelpful. Derogatory phone demeanor. Repeats your name back to you 2-3 times in any given sentence. Does not update you. SEVEN YEARS since surviving attempted murder and STILL NO COMPENSATION. Openly tells its clients that it’s still dealing with cases from the 70s. What an embarrassment to the Commonwealth.

So far my dealings with Fletchers Lawyers has been average.
I was hung up on when I tried to return a missed call. The receptionist seemed rude, and after reading a few reviews I see that I am not the only one that didn’t have a great experience with the receptionist.
It also sounded like I was called by the wrong name in the voicemail from them, so I guess they called the wrong number, but that’s no reason to hang up on a traumatised client with PTSD.
Not great that these lawyers are defending victims of DV as they should be more sensitive, especially their receptionist.
