I had an amazing experience with Cathryn and her acupuncture treatments for inducing labour. She is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful, making the entire process comfortable and reassuring. I have used her services for my last two pregnancies, and both times, the acupuncture helped progress labour smoothly and efficiently, leading to quick and easy deliveries. I highly recommend Cathryn to any expecting mothers looking for a natural and supportive way to prepare for birth!

I would highly recommend seeing Cathryn, she is the best! I have been suffering with endometriosis for 20 years and seeing her for a month has reduced my pain significantly, almost no pain during my last cycle. I can’t believe it, it has been a life changing experience to me. All those years before suffering and taking pain medications to being able to function, I only wish I had come to see her sooner. I can’t thank her enough! The moment you walk in you have been taken care of, she makes you feel so comfortable, the level of care is 5 out of 5. Highly recommend her!

Cathryn you are Amazing !! Best knowledge, brilliant service & wonderfully kind person of all the health care professionals that we see & thats a lot of people.
My wife & i have been regularly visiting Acumedica for assistance in becoming parents Cathryn has been so helpful in so many ways. We both value your helpful assistance, treatment & laughs so much more than you will ever know. If you are considering an acupuncture professional with a complete match of East meets Western medicine then do yourself a huge favour & take the first step and do it right here. We both highly recommend Cathryn to everyone who asks

Through Acumedica, I have received acupuncture to assist with healing following a laparoscopy to remove an ovarian cyst, regular treatment during an IVF cycle and now during pregnancy.
I have learnt how to approach my health holistically, and I always leave Acumedica infinitely more relaxed. Because of Cathryn’s wisdom, knowledge and expertise, I have been able to let go of pressure/stress and truly enjoy my fertility journey.
I am now almost 37 weeks! Without Cathryn’s help, I don’t believe my partner and I would have been successful in our first cycle of IVF. Cathryn is extremely thorough, caring and knowledgeable and has been a huge support before and during my pregnancy.

☆☆☆☆☆ 5 Star on every level. I have been seeing Cathryn for the past several years and without doubt she is the most knowledgeable and professional in the field I have seen. I have a few health issues and she had me feeling better within a few months. More than I could say about a few I had seen over the years.
You definitely won’t be disappointed

Cathryn came recommended to me from a friend, she is honestly amazing! I had never seen a naturopath before so I was not really sure what to expect. Her energy is so calming & made me feel so comfortable as soon as I entered the room. I saw Cathryn for an array of different reasons, but after one visit have already achieved astronomical results. I am beyond thrilled with her & have and will highly recommend her to everyone! I finally feel like my health is getting back on track and am excited to continue seeing her to get back to 100%! Cathryn opened my eyes to a broad range of different options and listened to my needs as an individual. Health is not a one size fits all & she reiterated that fact. I now look forward to my appointments with her & can’t wait to see her next!

After only 2 visits so far to Cathryn, I am already noticing improvements and feel I am now on the right track for my health.
I have chronic lower back pain, thyroid and hormone issues, along with anxiety and sleep problems. Cathryn is very patient with me and takes time to explain what’s going on with me, and how the treatments work, in an easy-to-understand way.
Finally I feel hopeful to becoming more pain free and having that balance we all want and need in our health both physically and mentally. I highly recommend Cathryn, a knowledgeable and down to earth lovely person.

I’ve been attending the clinic for just over a month now, having weekly acupuncture appointments with Heather and I truly cannot recommend her enough! It has been so helpful for my ongoing health issues, and I feel a million times better than I did before our first session. Heather is incredibly gentle, and explains what she’s doing and why, and really listens to everything you have to say about how you’re feeling/what you’d like to work on. She has made it such a pleasant experience and I highly recommend booking in with her!

A huge thank you to Misha. Acupuncture was nice relaxing way to help encourage labour and connect with my baby. I was hoping to avoid induction and it worked! Thank you for all your advice and support.

We visited twice this week for acupuncture to help induce labour. Misha was so lovely and reassuring during the whole process, ensuring I was completely aware of what to expect and made me feel very confident in my right to ask questions or request he stop/adjust something. Misha also took the time to show my partner the key acupressure points so he could do them at home for me. Overall, very happy with the experience and with Misha’s knowledge, caring approach and friendly service. Thanks Misha!

I have had a few acupuncture sessions with Misha and I have been extremely impressed, Misha is a true professional. Until now I have never had acupuncture before so I was not sure what to expect and a little nervous.. Misha however explained the process each step of the way, he was very patient with me and a calming influence. Needless to say, I have been very pleased with the results! I would highly recommend acupuncture to anyone who is considering it, and I don’t think you would find a better acupuncturist than Misha.

I started seeing Kai for Accupuncture to manage peri menopausal symptoms earlier this year and now wouldn’t live without it. Accupuncture has help me navigate perimenopause naturally and without HRT to date. It has successfully alleviated all hot flushes and sleep disturbance, helped with stress management and the recommended Chinese herbs have helped with decreasing the painful breast tenderness too.
Kai is gentle and compassionate, he always makes time to discuss your symptoms, how you have responded to treatments and often goes over and above with his holistic approach. At Well2 you also have the services of a naturopath and other Accupuncture providers (I can also highly recommend Dilmar as well). You can conveniently book online, they offer private health rebates and convenient parking.
Seriously ladies, do yourself a favour and try this clinic to help you feel like yourself again.

I couldn’t thank Kai enough for my experience. I was having lots of tension and knots in my upper back. I didn’t know what to ask for or expect. Not only is Kai was very kind and welcoming but his treatment worked wonders! It was my first time trying cupping and this felt effective immediately followed by acupuncture and massage. Will definitely be going back for more sessions. Thanks Kai!

I cannot rate my experience highly enough. From the first appointment I was impressed by the experienced & knowledgeable doctors & nurses & throughout my journey they have been nothing short of amazing. Instructions on medications are thorough & always come with a wellness check from the nurses who are there to help pretty much 24/7 should you have any questions. The whole process of my egg collection was made super easy & comfortable. Would definitely recommend to anyone on their fertility journey.

Recently attended this site for seminal testing . Staff were rude and abrupt . Felt put off immediately by this . Went through with the process only to be put in a room where privacy was minimal, could hear staff laughing and joking . This made it me very uncomfortable and I felt distracted. End result not enough . Walked out furious with the whole traumatic experience. All I want is to start a family and this is the level of unprofessionalism at this facility . Feel robbed of my opportunity. Would not recommend to anyone .

I am incredibly grateful to Dr. Juliette Koch and the entire Repromed team for making my dream of becoming a mother a reality after 9 years of struggle.
Despite being told in my home country that I could never have a child, Dr. Koch never lost hope and motivated me every step of the way. Her expertise, compassion, and the kindness of the nurses, admin staff, and everyone involved made this journey so much easier. I am now the proud mother of a beautiful daughter. Dr. Koch and the Repromed team are truly the best, and I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone facing similar challenges.

I had an outstanding experience at my visit to Repromed.
Firstly we were greeted with a very friendly front-end staff member, she was very pleasant and welcoming.
After our interaction, we had a very short wait in the reception area before being call in by the sonographer, Anthea, and she was nothing short of delightful, we had a good laugh with her and she made us feel very relaxed and gave us lots of information.
We then had another short wait in reception before being called to meet with the Phlebotomist and that was a really good experience too.
Thank you to the people involved, ensuring we had such a great experience and would highly recommend.

After feeling like we had no options left with another clinic, we decided to give it one last shot with Family Fertility- and we are so glad we did!
Every single member of staff has been knowledgeable, compassionate and helpful, from the reception staff to the nurses to embryologists.
Dr Marcin was clear and upfront about options and recommendations, and his expertise was obvious. Dr Tran was wonderful and so patient with us on transfer day.
Currently ten weeks pregnant after our first round of treatment with Family Fertility, we have nothing but praise and thanks for every member of staff. We are so grateful for your care!

We changed clinics after many recommendations to place our fertility journey in the trusted hands of Dr Marcin Stankiewicz and the wonderful team at Family Fertility.
We have had our confidence restored with Dr Marcin taking the time to order in depth investigations and testing to create a tailored plan which resulted with great results for a recent round of IVF.
Whilst no round of IVF is perfect or predictable, I believe that with Dr Marcin’s thorough approach helped us get to where we are now ☺️
To top it off, every aspect of our time with the clinic has been a pleasant experience for what is a very challenging process. The staff are kind, supportive and leave you feeling like you are in good hands.

Thanks to our GP’s referral, we have Dr. Marcin Stankiewicz as our fertility specialist. From our very first visit, Dr. Marcin and the team at Family Fertility Centre made us feel reassured and well cared for.
Dr. Marcin is highly professional and knowledgeable, and the nurses are also professional and experienced. All the staff — from the receptionists (Hayley) and nurses (Melissa, Lyn, Georgia) to the DSP coordinator (Yassaman) and lab team — were supportive, compassionate, and professional throughout the process.
I began my first IVF treatment in December and had the embryo transfer this April. I’m now 21 weeks pregnant, and I truly want to thank Dr. Marcin and his entire team for their ongoing support. Their care and empathy made a real difference, especially during the emotional highs and lows that come with IVF. I always felt I wasn’t going through this alone.

Marcin and his Team at Family Fertility Centre have been looking after us throughout our entire Fertility Journey since 2020.
We have had great success with 2 successful pregnancies, currently a 20 month old and another one on the way.
As an LGBT couple we felt welcome from the moment we walked in. It was a safe place for us, free from judgement and discrimination.
We found Marcin to be transparent and honest with us at all times, always straight the point. He never sugar coated how long a typical fertility journey could potentially take, and we appreciated the reality check!
We put all our trust in Marcin and his team and they did not let us down once!
The team at Family Fertility Centre made us feel cared for with their compassion and empathy.
Throughout our fertility journey we knew we were being taken care of by the best. We cannot recommend them enough!

First saw these guys in early 2020 (I believe), for fertility acupuncture and to talk about vitamins etc The treatment was okay though the person I saw gave me a bit of conflicting info to what my GP had told me and it put me off going back.
Fast-forward to last month, I recently had a baby and was sent a discount for remedial massage for my birthday. Being post-partum I had more than a few aches and pains and it sounded like a great idea.
It was painful but I expected it to be since I’m sure I had a lot of knots and such. After the hour massage I was disappointed that the therapist didn’t speak to me afterwards about what she found or when to make another appointment, if I needed one.
The following day my neck was so bad I could barely move it (made looking after a newborn 10x harder). I called Essence of Health to ask for some guidance. The lady I had seen the day prior wasn’t in, but the receptionist was very understanding and told me she would call the therapist I’d seen and call me back with some advice on how to care for my neck; whether it was normal; how long it should last etc
Needless to say, I never heard back. I feel the follow-up should have been better. It is now 3 weeks on and my neck still hurts when I look to the right.
Considering I might now need to see my physio to fix what this therapist has done.

We began seeing Sandra at EOH for IVF/fertility support in Sept 2022. Sandra was helping me balance my hormones as my PCOS had really taken control after having my son, I had also just had my second miscarriage. Sandra was amazing! It was nice to speak to someone who had so much knowledge around PCOS and IVF. Sandra checked both mine and hubby’s levels, checking for imbalances and abnormalities. We were both recommended herbal supplements and I had extra supps to take to support my body with PCOS. We had decided to take a break from IVF as it had been a long journey and just focus on our health and hormones. Sandra done acupuncture on me and she was very accomodating and understanding of my fears. After a short 2-months the proof was in the pudding (as the saying goes) I had my first “normal” cycle and my body responded to the ovulation tests which it had never done before. I started losing weight from the recommended diet change and my hormones starting to level out. We were very fortunate that after my first cycle I fell pregnant naturally. I’m now 22wks and couldn’t be happier with the initial and ongoing support from Sandra. She was recommended to us by a few different people going through IVF and I could not be more grateful that we sought her support. We would both highly recommend Sandra at EOH for her knowledge, expertise and general care and support.

My partner and I had the worst experience at this clinic . The fertility doctor I was given did not listen to us . Did a track cycle as requested and the nurses made me so many blood tests and missed booking me to the most important part – the scan but got send an invoice for the full cycle . When asked they said the nurse forgot . It’s been a terrible experience.

today’s rapidly progressing world of fertility treatment and IVF all we care about is your money.
Website boasts about research and knowledge, yet they palm off anyone and anything that won’t make them ivf money to other gynos that don’t see you for months. A complete waste of time trying to get care. Australias health “care” is failing its women.

i initially went to another clinic after finding out i had no sperm. they gave us little or false information like (your genetically fine) without recieving all the test results, and then charging us for the call! was a disgrace. I later went to genea after the competitor told us I’d have to get surgery in melbourne that no one can do it in adelaide. I was diagnosed with azospermia and needed micro tesa surgery. I highly recommend genea fertility SA and Dr bruno radesic as they have been professional every step of the way through the process, surgery and post op phone calls.

Since I requested to have my oocytes (eggs) that were stored destroyed I have received communication from Fertility SA that they have had a data leak. All of my private information and all of their other patients’ information including full names, dates of birth, address, phone numbers, forms of Id, private medical letters detailing sensitive medical data has been leaked to a 3rd party organisation and sold on.
I am horrified. Their response to this is a simple email to notify us that it has happened. The performance of this organisation is so far below expectations it’s appalling. I wish I could go back in time and never use their services, but it’s too late. They sent a bully to my home to follow up on a bill (only 4 months over due) and then leaked my most personal data, which is presumably in all corners of the intent now. And they’re are suppose to be a fertility company! Madness. They shouldnt be able to do business.
Original review:
I recently had a very negative experience with Fertility SA. A few years ago I had my eggs frozen and had been paying to have them stored with fertility SA. I’ve completed my family now (non-IVF) and I was deciding what to do with the eggs, to donate them to research, to another family, or to destroy them.
On Saturday a man from a debt collecting agency called Prestige came to my home. He had been sent by Fertility SA to follow up a bill for the oocyte storage (dated only 4months prior). I hadn’t had any phone calls or emails from fertility SA or Prestige prior to this. It felt like a serious over-step into my private life, attempting to intimidate me into paying the bill? Given the sensitive nature of the services Fertility SA provide, this approach to debt collection is inappropriate and felt very invasive. Fertility SA please do better by your clients.

My wife and I (both female) used Fertility SA to conceive a child together with IVF and we were successful on the first attempt.
4 weeks ago we welcomed our beautiful baby boy into the world.
The whole process was naturally a lot to handle, but they were so accommodating and accepting the entire time. We both felt supported and heard.
I am glad it is over, but I am also so happy we have our baby now and I couldn’t ask for a more supportive experience for such a major part of our lives.
Thank you everyone at Fertility SA, especially Brooke Calo and Dr Kate ❤️

I would definitely recommend Fertility SA to anyone wanting fertility treatment. Fertility SA was the second place I had been too for fertility treatment and there were a lot of vast differences that I found between the two. The first being that when I was discussing treatment options with my specialist, there was ALWAYS other treatment options if previous treatment protocol didn’t work whereas the previous well known clinic I went to prior, did the same protocol 3 times expecting a different result. It sadly resulted in 3 failed attempts and a lot of wasted time and money. The other difference I noticed was money. With the previous clinic, I heard from Accounts more than I heard from any one else. I was also pushed to purchase medication I didn’t need after my first traumatising egg collection. It wasn’t pleasant. Fertility SA was always very respectful and whenever I had concerns, they answered them promptly and without pressure. They wouldn’t allow me to purchase medication until it was absolutely necessary. Sure not everything is on site like egg collection or transfer however they make it as easy as possible for you. It was honestly a very well organised process and I managed to flow through it easy enough. I highly recommend Dr Vicki Nisenblat, she was fabulous, very knowledgeable and very informative. The staff were also very lovely and easy to talk too. The location was easy as there is generally a lot of available parking on South Tce

My husband and I transferred to Fertility SA with Dr Victoria Nisenblat after years with no success at another clinic in Adelaide. We knew instantly that we were in the right place. Not only is Dr Nisenblat an incredible, thorough and caring doctor, all staff seem to follow suit. We did not come across one unsupportive team member. Instead we were nurtured and truly cared for. After years of multiple miscarriages and failed cycles, we are expecting twin boys after a successful transfer of a single embryo. I am sending all friends and loved ones who are seeking fertility support straight to Fertility SA and feel comfortable knowing they will receive the highest quality of care.

Wasted 5 years in this clinic, regretful experience, waste time and money. Egg collection was very painful each time even a couple of days after. Embryo transfer was painful each time made me thinking it should be normal felling . Then I realised it is not the case when I finally traveled to get interstate treatment after 5 years bad experience. As results , I have my daughter first go and my son two years later. The name of the female doctor is not the same one as in the previous post. I trusted her because she was very nice person. I guess acting Professor title only means academically not practically. The lab probably not good is another reason also. The most regretful thing to me is I did not give up this clinic early enough. 5 years never get back again.

My experience with FSA has been excellent. I was constantly told my case was difficult, and that it was going to be very hard to conceive. So I tried 3 different IVF clinics over 4 years, and I even went to the self proclaimed ‘baby whisperer’ in Melbourne Lynne burmeister out of desperation – with no success. I eventually saw Dr sally Reid at fertility SA and I can’t speak highly enough about her. Before seeing dr Reid I had no hope left and was told I needed to find an egg donor. All the doctors and clinics before dr Reid tried to do simple things like adjust the medication, or change my diet or make me take more natural pills and nothing worked. Thankfully, dr Reid had the capacity to analyze my entire situation and find an answer. On my first attempt with her, which was also going to be my last Ever IVF, and after withdrawing my super money and having been given absolutely no hope to get pregnant, dr Reid created a miracle and now I have my beautiful little boy. I found all the staff at fertility SA to be supportive, considerate, thorough, and always showing empathy. I found their labs, processes and technology to be excellent. I would just like to advise people who may be in a difficult situation conceiving to try dr Reid. I have blind faith in her now and would not hesitate to recommend her. Thank you Dr Reid and to all the team and Fertility SA.

I visited Flinders Fertility back in 2015 for IVF which lead to the birth of my beautiful daughter in 2016. I am now back again to try for one more before my clock runs out, we have had a failed attempt so far, but the clinic was very supportive during all that. We are about to start to process again, with different medications and doses, hoping for a better result this time. Staying positive in the mean time.

A huge thanks to the team at flinders fertility for our perfect baby boy
IVF is such a testing journey with no guarantees… we certainly got lucky! But throughout the rollercoaster ride the doctors, nurses and admin team made us feel very well looked after, demonstrating great professionalism and were supportive, empathetic and just really human. Thank you all!

I’ve had a horrible experience with Flinders Fertility. Despite having a legal name change, I was repeatedly deadnamed. something that is completely unacceptable, especially at a fertility clinic that claims to support queer people. You’d think staff would be properly trained in this area.
I also felt judged for not fitting their “ideal client profile” I’m not part of a wealthy, older couple trying for a first child and that seemed to matter. They promote themselves as one of the only clinics with PBS funding, yet they are still among the most expensive options. On top of this, I was pressured into IVF prematurely and recommended unnecessary testing that felt more like a way to extract money than genuine care.
I left feeling disrespected, excluded, and taken advantage of. I cannot recommend this clinic to anyone seeking a supportive and ethical fertility journey.

We’re now well into our fertility journey under the care of Dr Toby Angstmann. Following a recent loss, Toby reached out to us personally to offer support and talk through what had happened.
Both Toby and the team at Flinders have gone above and beyond, patiently answering every question, no matter how big or small and sitting with me through moments of deep sadness and hopeful anticipation. Toby has taken the time to walk me through the science behind IVF, always ensuring I feel informed and never rushed, in addition to this Toby has been open to discussing a holistic care approach.
I truly feel supported by this incredible team and couldn’t recommend them more

I wish we never set foot in Flinders Fertility. I tried to resolve my complaint internally, however we have been dismissed and they have focused on what they want to focus on, so we are currently looking to lodge a complaint with the Health and Community Services Complaints Commissioner. We were pushed into IVF treatment prematurely, they failed to diagnose an underlying condition and we were treated with a lack of empathy. I’d hate for another couple to go through what we have, I’d strongly recommend seeking fertility advice and treatment elsewhere- anywhere but Flinders Fertility. And no, this review is not driven by emotion. This is driven by the fact we were wronged by this clinic and literally everyone I have spoken to is shocked by our situation. We tried to do the right thing and resolve this with them but they failed to even acknowledge their wrong doings so others need to know what sort of clinic you are dealing with.

I’m writing this review as part of my healing process.
A few years back my husband and I spent thousands of dollars trying to fall pregnant.
We were even charged for a failed cycle, leaving us out of pocket and unable to afford another cycle any time afterwards.
After my doctor at the clinic left to work overseas, I was passed around from doctor to doctor.
And when I went for an ultrasound I had to make a massive decision on my own when it came to continuing on to egg retrieval. I thought they were the experts, so why was it up to me to decide?
I was told that there weren’t a lot to use.
But I now know that was probably my only chance.
I’m now 47 and gave up hope after being told I’d need a donor.
A massive part of me still blames the way I was treated as a patient for never having my chance at having a family.
People need to know that I was treated quite badly at Flinders Fertility when they were located at Flinders Hospital.

Reply: It was definitely you, I am not posting my real name here for privacy purposes. There is nothing you can do anymore and I don’t even think you are qualified enough to treat me. I contacted you 2 times after my surgery and the response was I had been overthinking and surgery was a success. You tried to cancel my after surgery appointment for being 5 minutes late, for which I called your clinic 35 minutes before my appointment that I would be 5 minutes late due to a traffic diversion.
Original Review: I strongly advise against seeking treatment from this doctor, as the surgery he performed on me has had catastrophic consequences. His mishandling of my endometriosis surgery has left me unable to conceive. Despite his assurances of a successful and complication-free procedure, I discovered six months later that the surgery was a failure. Seeking opinions from two other doctors confirmed this devastating news. Now, I am left with no option but to undergo a hysterectomy to relieve the excruciating pain I am enduring. At just 30 years old, the loss of my fertility has had a profound impact on my family. I urge everyone to steer clear of this doctor. His dismissive attitude towards patient concerns and inability to truly listen make him unsuitable for providing adequate care.

Dr Marcin was fantastic in explaining the process, our likelihood of success and each round we learnt something new to take to the next cycle. His honesty and sense of humour certainly resonated with us!
We were successful with one embryo in what we had decided was going to be our last round of trying (personal choice).

He was the best. Sorted out my endometriosis years ago, after getting misdiagnosed or just not diagnosed at all for years! He had a great sense of humour, so much knowledge and expertise but was helpful in explaining everything. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him as a doctor for Fertility and reproductive issues.

Catalog of Services Offered by Fertility Clinics in Adelaide
Ovulation Tracking and Cycle Monitoring
A foundational step in fertility treatment is often ovulation tracking and cycle monitoring. Clinics utilize various methods, including basal body temperature charting, ovulation predictor kits, and ultrasounds, to identify the optimal window for conception and predict ovulation accurately.
Intrauterine Insemination (IUI)
Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a relatively simple procedure where sperm is directly placed into the uterus around the time of ovulation. It’s often used for couples with unexplained infertility or mild male factor infertility, enhancing the chances of fertilization.
In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)
In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a more complex process involving retrieving eggs, fertilizing them with sperm in a lab, and then transferring the resulting embryos into the uterus. Clinics offer comprehensive IVF cycles with varying degrees of customization based on patient needs and medical history.
Egg Freezing (Oocyte Cryopreservation)
Egg freezing (oocyte cryopreservation) allows women to preserve their fertility for future use. Clinics utilize advanced freezing techniques to ensure the viability of eggs, offering a valuable option for those delaying childbearing due to various reasons.
Sperm Analysis and Preparation
For male factor infertility, sperm analysis and preparation are crucial. Clinics perform thorough sperm assessments to evaluate sperm count, motility, and morphology. Techniques like sperm washing and selection are used to enhance sperm quality for assisted reproduction.
Preimplantation Genetic Testing (PGT)
Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT), previously known as PGS/PGD, allows for screening embryos for genetic abnormalities before transfer. This technology can reduce the risk of miscarriage and improve the chances of a healthy pregnancy for individuals at risk of passing on genetic conditions.
Donor Egg and Sperm Programs
Clinics frequently offer donor egg and sperm programs for individuals who cannot produce viable eggs or sperm. These programs adhere to strict guidelines and regulations, ensuring the anonymity and health of donors while providing recipients with options for building a family.
Fertility Medication Management
Fertility medication management is integral to many fertility treatments. Clinics provide expert guidance and monitoring to optimize medication dosages and minimize potential side effects, ensuring the best possible outcome for patients.
Frequently Asked Questions about Fertility Clinics in Adelaide
What services do fertility clinics typically offer?
Fertility clinics commonly offer a wide range of services. These include initial fertility assessments for both partners, ovarian stimulation and monitoring, intrauterine insemination (IUI), in vitro fertilization (IVF), egg freezing, preimplantation genetic testing (PGT), and gamete donation (egg or sperm). Some clinics also provide support services like counseling and nutrition advice.
How do I know if I need to see a fertility specialist?
It’s generally recommended to seek a fertility specialist if you’re a woman under 35 and haven’t conceived after one year of regular, unprotected intercourse. For women over 35, this timeframe shortens to six months. Other factors that warrant consultation include a history of irregular periods, known uterine or fallopian tube issues, or a male partner with known sperm abnormalities.
What is involved in a fertility assessment?
A fertility assessment typically includes a medical history review for both partners, a physical examination, and several diagnostic tests. For women, these tests may include an ovarian reserve assessment (blood tests, ultrasound), hysterosalpingogram (HSG) to check the fallopian tubes, and a uterine cavity evaluation. Male partners will usually undergo a semen analysis to assess sperm count, motility, and morphology.
What is IVF, and how does it work?
IVF (in vitro fertilization) is a process where eggs are retrieved from a woman’s ovaries and fertilized by sperm in a laboratory. The resulting embryos are then transferred to the woman’s uterus. The process typically involves ovarian stimulation to produce multiple eggs, followed by egg retrieval, fertilization, embryo culture, and embryo transfer. IVF is often recommended for couples with fallopian tube blockage or male factor infertility.
What are the success rates for fertility treatments?
Success rates for fertility treatments vary widely depending on factors like age, diagnosis, and the specific treatment being used. Generally, success rates for IVF are higher for younger women. Clinics often publish their success data, although it’s important to compare these rates carefully, considering the specific patient populations they serve. It’s crucial to discuss realistic expectations with a fertility specialist.
How much does fertility treatment typically cost in Adelaide?
Fertility treatment can be expensive. IVF cycles typically range from AUD $5,000 to $10,000 or more, excluding medications. Other procedures like IUI are generally less costly. Costs can vary depending on the clinic, the complexity of the treatment, and whether multiple cycles are needed. Many clinics offer financing options or payment plans. It’s essential to inquire about all potential costs upfront.
What is preimplantation genetic testing (PGT)?
Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT), formerly known as PGS or PGD, is a procedure performed during IVF where embryos are tested for genetic abnormalities before being transferred to the uterus. PGT can help identify embryos with chromosomal abnormalities or inherited genetic diseases. This is particularly helpful for couples with a family history of genetic disorders or who have experienced recurrent miscarriage.
What role does male factor infertility play?
Male factor infertility is a significant contributor to infertility, accounting for approximately 40-50% of cases. Common male factors include low sperm count, poor sperm motility, and abnormal sperm morphology. Male partners will typically undergo a semen analysis to assess sperm parameters, and further investigations, such as hormone testing or genetic screening, may be recommended.
What are the ethical considerations surrounding fertility treatments?
Fertility treatments raise several ethical considerations, including the use of donor eggs or sperm, embryo donation, multiple pregnancies, and genetic screening. It's important to discuss these ethical concerns with the clinic and make informed decisions aligned with your values. Clinics should provide counseling services to help couples navigate these complex issues.
How can I find a reputable fertility clinic in Adelaide?
To find a reputable fertility clinic, start by asking for recommendations from your doctor or friends. Research clinics online, checking their success rates, patient reviews, and accreditation status. Consider visiting multiple clinics for consultations to assess their approach, facilities, and overall atmosphere. Ensure the clinic is registered and adheres to ethical guidelines.
