I’ve been attending STRONG Pilates for a few months now, and it’s hands down one of the best workouts I’ve ever done. The combination of reformer Pilates and cardio bursts on the rower/bike keeps every class dynamic, challenging, and super effective.
The instructors are knowledgeable, motivating, and really attentive to form. I love that every session is different, so it never feels repetitive. The studio itself is always clean, well-equipped, and has a great atmosphere — high energy but still welcoming.
Whether you’re a Pilates regular or looking for a fresh way to train, I highly recommend giving STRONG a go. You’ll feel the burn, but in the best way possible

I first joined STRONG Somerton Park as a VIP member before it opened. I absolutely loved all of my 114 sessions – the instructors, facilities, classes and location are amazing. I had to stop following an injury, and after a year, I have decided to go back. Nothing has been as enjoyable as attending STRONG has been. I have been welcomed back with open arms and I’m super grateful to be a part of this community, again. It is the best

Absolutely obsessed with this studio…
This place has completely transformed how I feel about fitness, my mom core is ACTIVATED. The glute-focused days are my absolute favourite — I leave feeling strong, sculpted, and totally energised. The instructors are truly 5 stars across the board — knowledgeable, motivating, and always bringing great vibes to every class. Special shout out to Kenzie and Nicola who consistently go above and beyond to make each session fun and challenging.
Okay, I’ll admit it… I still don’t love the erg (who does?!), but everything else more than makes up for it. The studio is clean, welcoming, and has such a supportive community. If you’re thinking about trying Pilates, this is the place to be. Highly recommend, especially for the cold towel at the end of each workout…

I’ve been going to Strong Somerton Park for just over a year now and I love it! Such a good mix between cardio, strength and Pilates. The instructors really make you feel welcome and supported in every single session. Highly recommend to anyone looking to mix up their workout routine

Strong Somerton Park is my daily non-negotiable. In just 45 minutes, the hybrid work out of Pilates-reformer, cardio, and weights combo leaves me stronger, calmer, and completely reset. My body’s stronger, my mind’s clearer, and my energy’s improved. The trainers are fantastic—supportive and motivating —and the community atmosphere (plus the fun events!) makes every visit something to look forward to. I’ve tried many group training studios and nothing compares to Strong Somerton Park!

I’ve been going to STRONG for almost two years now, and it’s been such a consistent highlight in my routine. The combination of Pilates with erg efforts on the bikes and rowers is a game changer and keeps the workouts challenging in all the right ways.
The eucalyptus towels at the end of each class is my favourite little thing and my key motivation at times (HAHAH).
The instructors genuinely care, not just about how you move in the studio, but about you as a person. They’re knowledgeable, supportive, and always willing to tailor sessions to your ability so you get the most out of every workout.
There’s also a real sense of community at STRONG. The environment is welcoming and inclusive, and it’s the kind of place you look forward to coming back to.
Can’t recommend STRONG enough. Big big love to the whole team

I mistakenly purchased a pass for the wrong branch over the phone. I realised my mistake before taking any classes but they refused to refund me or transfer my pass to the correct location. It’s within their power to provide a refund but they decided to keep my money.

I’m really enjoying my experience at Studio Pilates. It is the perfect combination of strength and resistance training I needed in my routine to hit my fitness goals. All the instructors are amazing and pay attention to each individual’s posture despite it being a group session. The equipments are clean and the vibe is spot on!
I would love for some afternoon sessions to become available just so I can get myself in an extra day in the week.

Nice studio and great instructors. Liked the tv screens showing exercises. Would prefer more time spent on each individual exercise to get correct form as instructor may be helping other clients. Did not like the loud music.

All the instructors at Norwood Studio Pilates are so kind and supportive. I’m still building my strength, but I’m always surprised at how quickly my body recovers after a class! Hoping the Friday afternoon classes come back, it’s always good to have a boost before the weekend. Some of the head rests are a bit cracked and worn, but otherwise all the equipment is in good condition.

I’ve just started at Studio Pilates in Norwood. I’ve done 7 classes, and I love it. I didn’t know beforehand if it would be for me, but I wish I’d started years ago. I’m a bit unco so it will take me some time to really get on top of it, but I believe I improve every session, and I see and feel the benefits already. The instructors are great and take time to get you doing the exercise correctly, all done with a smile too. Really happy, really enjoying it. Feeling great. Highly recommended.

I have been going to Studio Pilates for a couple of months. I had floor Pilates experience, but was new to the reformer and hadn’t really done much physical activity apart from walking for quite some time. I felt very supported right from first contact. All the instructors touched base before and after sessions, gave helpful advice and corrected my form, and always had an encouraging but kind manner. I also really enjoyed the other studio members. All our health and fitness journeys were different but it just added to a felt sense of belonging.
Unfortunately I have had a situation pop up that has meant I can no longer attend. Adele and the ladies on Reception have been compassionate and very flexible during this time. Thank you to Studio Pilates for a great experience.

I have been going to Studio Pilates North Adelaide for about a month and have been really enjoying it. I have done reformer pilates and matwork pilates for years and was attending 1:4 Physio-run classes for a couple years in Darwin, which were better suited for my past injuries to prevent re-injuring myself. I’ve steered away from non-physio run big classes for this very reason.
Since moving back to Adelaide recently, it was a challenge finding one that fit this criteria. But I have felt comfortable with Studio Pilates, as the class sizes aren’t massive and most importantly they collaborate with my Physio and modify each exercise when required to take my condition into consideration.
All the instructors have been helpful and attentive, particularly Cata, whom I feel provides the best one-on-one focus, where I don’t feel forgotten.
Thank you!
*edit : I think the excellent communication and customer service warranted a change to my initial number of stars 🙂

Amazing team of women!
Everyone is friendly and attentive, encouraging and helps keep you accountable to your goals, the energy is uplifting and the community really supports each other and you just feel so welcomed. The studio is a great size for individual focused classes so everyone gets attention if they have issues with positions, injuries and other needs. The price is high, just like anywhere else, but what really sets it apart is just how supported and welcome they will make you feel and for me that’s worth every penny.

To be honest I was skeptical about joining Studio Pilates, thinking that it would be like other Pilates franchises I have tried and hated. I decided to I had nothing to lose by giving the free orientation a go and I have not looked back since. I am definitely a convert! Highly impressed by the number, structure and variety of the classes. Most importantly I am thrilled to be receiving personalized attention to ensure my individual needs are taken care of and that I am maintaining good form. Highly recommend Studio Pilates Unley.

I have been doing strength training for about 7 years. At the beginning of this year, a good friend convinced me to try Pilates at her studio, Studio Pilates, Unley. I love this new-to-me form of exercise. Pilates appeals to me as a scientist because I can exercise precise, small groups of muscles. More importantly, I feel really energized after each Pilates session and can tell that my core is getting stronger after only 3 weeks.
I have been very impressed with the training that I get at Studio Pilates, Unley. The instructors who’ve taught me are very knowledgeable and hands-on. Because I am a new to Pilates and don’t know what I am doing, they help me with every exercise to make sure that I am doing the exercise correctly. In each session, they also provide regular feedback to every other attendee, who are usually more experienced with Pilates than I am. I also really like that the exercises in every session are described in detail on a video, which is shown throughout each session on big screens at regular intervals on both the front and back walls of the studio. I refer to the videos often to make sure that I am performing the exercises as I should.
In summary, I highly recommend Studio Pilates, Unley, to anyone in Adelaide who is interested in doing Pilates. I’m sure that I couldn’t have found a better place to learn Pilates.

I love this place. The instructors are so well trained and always on top of my technique, adjusting so that I’m in the correct position to use the right muscles. They keep track of any injuries I’ve had or have, and will always suggest alternative exercises if they think I will have issues. I love that the tv shows someone doing all the exercises so that the instructors can focus on the clients more, and that we are talked through and reminded to do certain things during the different exercises. It is fun and such a good workout.

I used to be strong and fit but 4 years ago I became sick and lost all that. A friend persuaded me to try Studio Pilates and with a lot of trepidation I did. It isn’t easy being unfit, fat and 70+!
The instructors have been amazing! They are patient and good-humoured, and help me find alternative exercises if my damaged body can’t cope.
Other users of the Studio have been friendly and welcoming, and I don’t feel judged for my incompetence.
The app is easy to use. The classes are punctual. The equipment is in good condition and everything is clean. The video demonstrations are easy to see. The cost of the classes represents good value to me.
It will take me a long time to recover my former mobility (I’m giving myself 2 years) but I think that Studio Pilates will help me get there.

I’m so glad I took the leap and walked into Hello Pilates! The space is beautiful, the instructors are welcoming, and the classes offer the perfect mix of challenge and support. Can’t stress enough how great the staff and teachers are here. They’re truly dedicated to the wellness side of movement and health instead of focusing on the hard core GRRR WORKOUT TIME you get in some studios.
Also the flexi options are fantastic if you don’t want to do a class. They have pre-recorded sessions that you can do by booking a flexi appointment. You basically book, show up, and get handed a tablet with all the class options. You can do your thing at your own speed. Plus, there’s a teacher there in case you get stuck or are worried about hurting yourself.
Honestly its the perfect studio. No notes, 5 stars.

Such a beautiful Pilates studio, attention to details and cleanliness is next level! Instructors are so friendly and welcoming. Even in workouts that are more advanced, instructors will always give beginner alternatives. Workouts are always well balanced between muscle groups. The cardio aspect of the bikes and rowers really adds to the fat burn!
Bathrooms are well equipped with straighter, blow dryers, hair ties etc etc, and they inferred sauna is a cool option to have post recovery. (Booked for extra cost)

I started training at strong PA about 18 months ago after not loving general gym environments and lacking motivation and variety! I started with a special offer and transferred to a weekly membership straight away as I loved it so much. Melissa Laing walks her talk. I’ve known Melissa for over 20 years during which time I have been both an appreciative client and a colleague. Melissa’s understanding of the mind-body connection, anatomy, fascia and movement is exemplary. Melissa has an empathy and compassion for people with a desire to facilitate growth and strength for all to reach their best potential. Melissa has the ability to know how to help you extend past your edges, understands the healing process and also brings humour. She can truly connect, nurture and transform. Working with Melissa is always a treat that helps me to grow and enjoy the process or at the very least see a funny positive side! Melissa Laing has my heart felt recommendation.

Having started Pilates in a group class (of more than 30 people) at the local gym, it became obvious to me very quickly that there’s various standards of Pilates instruction. Melissa and her team are all excellent instructors and the small group sizes allow them to provide maximum benefit to individuals. What really impresses me is their ability to modify any exercise to my requirements, whether that be my strengths and weaknesses, working on particular areas for strength or mobility, or just having an off day where things need to be simple and relaxing. This approach has helped me recover (better than expected) from a serious shoulder injury. Not only have I benefited from their expertise but from the genuine care and warmth from all of the staff. And there’s tea (really nice tea)!

I’ve tried for years to get relief from an injury – tried, chiros, physios, massage, but have never had great success, until I did a series of personal pilates sessions with Melissa Laing. Her understanding of how the body connects, and how different parts affect others is truely comprehensive, and has resulted in a vast improvement to my condition.

I called Melissa Laing Studio, we did a few sessions and I was “Back on my feet” so happy. More specifically the tailoring to my needs. Good environment and good facilitate. However, the pilates instructors were changed a lot right after I signed for a one-year fixed contract, and the classes in the afternoon were reduced to only one class before 7pm. Because of this, I wouldn’t be renewing my contract with this gym.

Frequently Asked Questions about Pilates Centres in Adelaide
What exactly is Pilates, and what are its benefits?
Pilates is a fitness system developed by Joseph Pilates. It focuses on core strength, flexibility, and body awareness. The exercises are performed with precise movements and controlled breathing, leading to improved posture, muscle tone, and overall physical conditioning. It's often recommended for rehabilitation and injury prevention.
What's the difference between mat Pilates and reformer Pilates?
The primary difference lies in the equipment used. Mat Pilates is performed on a mat, using only your body weight for resistance. Reformer Pilates, on the other hand, utilizes a specialized machine called a Reformer, which incorporates springs and other resistance mechanisms to provide a more challenging and versatile workout. Reformer Pilates can often be accessed by individuals of varying fitness levels.
Are Pilates centres in Adelaide suitable for all fitness levels?
Most Pilates centres in Adelaide offer classes catering to diverse fitness levels. Many offer introductory classes for beginners and modifications for individuals with injuries or limitations. However, it’s always best to check with the specific centre to understand their class structure and level requirements. It is wise to consult your doctor if you have any pre-existing medical conditions.
How much do Pilates classes typically cost in Adelaide?
The cost of Pilates classes in Adelaide can vary depending on factors like the centre's location, equipment used (mat vs. reformer), and class duration. Generally, you can expect to pay anywhere from $20 for a single mat Pilates class to $40 or more for a reformer class. Many centres also offer packages and memberships that can provide cost savings. Consider introductory offers from different studios.
What should I wear to a Pilates class?
Comfortable and form-fitting clothing is ideal for Pilates. This allows the instructor to see your alignment and assists with safe and effective movement. Avoid loose clothing that might get in the way of the exercises. Bare feet or socks are usually acceptable footwear – check with the specific centre for their policy.
Do I need any prior experience before attending a Pilates class?
No prior experience is typically required for most introductory Pilates classes. While some prior experience with core-based exercises might be beneficial, the instructors are trained to guide individuals of all fitness backgrounds. The initial classes focus on fundamental principles and techniques.
How often should I attend Pilates classes to see results?
The frequency with which you attend Pilates classes to see results will depend on your goals and fitness level. Ideally, attending 2-3 classes per week can lead to noticeable improvements in strength, flexibility, and body awareness. Consistency is key.
What are the common certifications held by Pilates instructors?
Reputable Pilates instructors often hold certifications from recognized training organizations such as Polestar Pilates, Balanced Body, or Stott Pilates. These certifications demonstrate a commitment to industry standards and safe teaching practices. It is worthwhile to investigate the qualifications of potential instructors.
Is Pilates safe for people with back pain?
Pilates can be beneficial for some people with back pain, but it’s crucial to consult with a doctor or physical therapist first. The exercises focus on strengthening the core and improving posture, which can alleviate back pain. However, certain movements might be contraindicated for specific conditions – professional guidance is essential.
How do I choose the right Pilates centre for me?
Selecting the right Pilates centre involves considering several factors, including location, class schedule, equipment offered, instructor qualifications, and overall atmosphere. Look for studios that offer introductory sessions or trials so you can experience their teaching style firsthand and see if it aligns with your personal preferences. Read online reviews from other clients too.
