First opened in 1913. Have visited this beautiful theatre to watch a number of performances before and after the major redevelopment was completed in 2020. Went on a tour of Her Majesty’s Theatre today (1/9/2025). The extensive renovation preserved the original facade on Grote Street, restored architectural elements, expanded the seating capacity and introduced a new west wing with a modern glass facade. Beautiful! The tour took us to each level of the theatre as well as back of stage areas. Really interesting tour. Very entertaining and knowledgable volunteer guide, Peter.
Carparks nearby. Wheelchair accessible.

Love the shows put on and the staff are friendly. Only wish the seating area in the foyer could have been made larger and for pre-show dining when the main theatre isn’t open, it was a little tricky to find out how to enter. A sign on the door would be a simple solution. The food however was delicious.

Great theatre. The only fault….only 2 bar staff serving, as 2 on tills. The line for the bar is far too long.

It’s a wonderful place to spend a relaxed afternoon, appreciating local artistry while enjoying refreshments. The opportunity to browse beautiful, handmade crafts adds a special charm.

I really like this cafe. Beautiful fire in winter, great coffee, good selection including gluten free food and when finished you can browse their art gallery which has quality art/craft for sale. Its not too big, not noisy..great place to visit on a trip into the hills

This place is amazing! Beautiful interior and outdoor seating. They sell a huge amount of local art work and crafts. What a wonderful way to promote local artists! I spent ages looking around. There is a huge selection. The food cabinet offered vegan and gluten free options. Even the bathrooms in this establishment was beautiful and clean. It is on a hill but there is one disabled park at the front, and a car park up the hill around to the left. The coffee wasn’t and and they had soy milk. I will be back with friends and family. Thank you =)

As a family, we shared a light lunch at Atelier Cafe. The atmosphere was lovely. There were wonderful art displays and craft items for sale that created interest in our group.
Service was fine, albeit a little slow, and the food was okay. Maybe a tad overpriced for what one gets, (see attached images).
Parking was an issue. One needs to either park in the very small carpark at the rear of the cafe or in the tennis club carpark. Then one must walk around to the front of the cafe along the narrow road.
Parking for the disabled is directly in front of the door. It is a bit tight getting into the right spot to unload walkers and the somewhat immobile guests. One then needs to back out onto the road and park at the rear.

Lovely and relaxing cafe and art space, I agree with others’ reviews. They hold art classes and have live music on Sunday’s throughout February 2023.
Parking is, however, at a premium. There is one disabled park onsite. Their rear carpark is accessed via Cox Creek Rd, (unfortunately no access to the the cafe / gallery just yet), and some will find the walk to the front door slightly too steep. Limited parking on Cox Place. Parking aside, it is well worth the visit.

The perfect spot for coffee and cake, wine (organic if that’s your thing) & cheese (vegan included!), or curry & cocktails (on a Friday night). And all whilst you are surrounded by electic mix of art works, craft, knitwear, jewellery, makeup and skin care. What makes the experience even better is the amazing owner and her staff!

Urth Clay Studio provides a wonderfully supportive environment for exploring ceramics. The instructors are clearly passionate about what they do, creating a relaxed atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable, regardless of their experience level. It’s a great place for beginners to learn the fundamentals and develop new skills, while also allowing more experienced potters to refine their craft. The studio offers a great experience.
I’ve heard positive feedback about the studio’s commitment to quality materials and generous instruction. It seems to be a place where creativity thrives, and participants leave with a sense of accomplishment and some lovely handmade pieces. The emphasis on skill-building and community engagement is truly commendable, resulting in a welcoming and encouraging space.

Thank you Tamara for being such a great tutor during our recent pottery class. Making this planter/pot was so much fun, more than I expected. I had a last-minute idea to celebrate my birthday with a Sip & Paint Neon session at Paintadelaide with my girlfriends, and it turned out to be an amazing choice! Leading up to the day, Maya was incredibly helpful and quick to respond to all my questions. She was fantastic to communicate with and very accommodating with our arrangements.
I arrived 30 minutes early to set up our drinks and snacks, and we were greeted by the friendliest, most patient, and talented art teacher you could ask for. She made sure everyone was comfortable with the instructions and regularly walked around, offering guidance and suggestions to enhance our artwork.
For the next two-plus hours, we enjoyed great tunes, sipped on bubbly, and fully disconnected from the outside world, allowing our creativity to flow. My friends and I absolutely loved the experience and can’t wait to return to try more classes and mediums. I can’t recommend Paintadelaide highly enough—especially their Neon painting experience, which was incredibly fun! Do yourself a favor, grab some friends, and give it a go!

I booked Paintelaide for a small birthday celebration. Palavi was so accommodating and friendly in the lead up.
We went to Prohibition Gin Distillary in the city and were very excited to get started.
Palavi gave us a structured but relaxed experience and allowed us to take our time, eat and drink as we went.
At the end Palavi offered to take our photos as a group.
All 18 of us had a blast.
Thank you Palavi and Paintelaide – I am so glad I booked this experience with you and will 100% recommend you to friends and family.

An extremely enjoyable and fun experience with Renee giving excellent step by step instructions. Even if you have never painted a picture before I highly recommend giving paint and sip a go. Renee uses her own beautiful original designs to teach you but it always has your unique touch. A++

We recently attended a pottery session that, while enjoyable in parts, fell short of our expectations, especially at $109 per person. The instructor was friendly but was the sole teacher for a group of nine, which led to some difficulties. Since we were all beginners, most of us needed guidance throughout, yet it took a while before she could reach everyone individually. By the time she reached us, there were only about 10 minutes left, which felt rushed.
For the price, I had hoped for a bit more hands-on guidance or a more structured setup. Perhaps a second instructor or even a video demonstration on screen could help ensure everyone feels supported. This session has potential, but a few tweaks could make it feel more personalised and welcoming for new learners

Thanks for great night Nikita!
Loved it
My son gave me a gift voucher for 2 for a ‘pinch pot’ session and I decided to bring my 80 year old mum with me. We have recently lost dad and I thought it would be a nice thing to do together.
Your warm welcome when we arrived set the tone straight away. As the room started to fill I was briefly concerned we were so much older than the rest of the group but it was no issue at all. It was such a relaxed and inclusive experience, there was lots of laughter and praise for each other’s efforts at our table! Loved your playlist too ☺️
Thanks again for the smiles Nikita ❤️

This was fun we went with a big group for a hens! My biggest feed back is to label containers clearer! I’m worried we stressed out one of the tutors as some of us were particular on what we wanted to achieve and the containers weren’t clearly labeled so we made mistakes we weren’t aware of.

Note this review was for feedback to let the owner know how they could improve we all still had a great time! We’ve since picked up our pieces and in the process of giving them to everyone at the hens.

I saw a review mention flexible online learning through recorded workshops, and I agree with CDW’s response that they’re not an online school, they’re very much focused on live, in-person teaching. That said, as someone who struggles with social anxiety and has full-time work commitments, I’m grateful that the recordings still give me a way to keep up and pursue my goals. While it’s not the recommended way to study, the flexibility has made a huge difference for me. If you put in the effort, you’ll see results, especially if you can attend in person. I’m just so pleased with this school and i’m so thankful that i have been given the opportunity to attend!!

Structured similarly to how one would learn over in the United States from world class establishments, CDW Studio’s has slowly built it’s legitimacy by offering certified education in conjunction with Flinders University.
The academic staff have all been working in the industry for years and is a great environment to get personalized education. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating to your needs, teachers and students alike.
CDW Studio’s was named the #1 school for digital illustration in the Rookies global rankings, a competition which sees more than 600 schools and 6,000 entries from 81 countries.
As the old saying goes, you only ever get out of something what you put into it. If you give the training your all, you will get a lifetimes worth of skills out of it.
I would highly recommend this establishment.

The specific mediums used often depend on the skill level of the class and the instructor’s expertise. It's a good idea to check the course description to see what materials are covered.
Do I need any prior painting experience?
Most painting classes in Adelaide welcome beginners with no prior experience. The emphasis is often on learning the fundamentals and developing foundational skills. However, more advanced classes often assume some level of existing knowledge and experience. It's best to look for classes specifically labeled as "beginner-friendly" if you're just starting out.
What materials do I need to bring to a painting class?
The requirements for materials vary depending on the class and the instructor. Often, the instructor will provide basic materials like paper or canvases. However, you’re typically expected to provide your own brushes, paints, and an apron. Detailed lists of required materials are usually provided before the class starts.
