A true sanctuary, with the best of the best instructors !
I’ve been a member of Humankind, for 5 years now, and it truly feels like my second home. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warmth and genuine smiles. It’s such a welcoming community, and a very peaceful space to hang out.
For me, it’s more than yoga, it’s my happy place. The variety of classes, keep me strong, steady and grounded, both physically and mentally. It’s the perfect way to end my day. I always leave feeling better than, than when I arrived. I honestly don’t know what I’d do without it!

I went to Tessa’s strong flow class on Sunday morning. She began the class explaining that we need to open up our chest, neck and shoulder muscles to counteract the effects of the hunching over we do when looking at devices. That evening at our family Mothers Day dinner, my mother said to my son (who was looking at his phone !) you are looking a bit round shouldered! This led me to tell everyone at our gathering what I had learnt in Tessa’s class. I love the way the Human.Kind experience benefits not just my body but also my mind and general outlook on life.

Yoga Spirit is truly a gem in Adelaide!
What I love most is the studio’s welcoming community atmosphere. Classes are never rushed; each session feels thoughtfully guided, focusing not only on physical movement but also on mindfulness and inner balance. The variety of classes—from gentle yoga to meditation and sound healing—means there’s always something that fits my mood and needs.

Whether you love yoga and mindfulness, or just want some downtime, this might be the hub for you. Vani and her dedicated team of instructors cater for different levels of yoga to suit your needs. There are also special events, retreats, and much more. The studio is lovely, clean, and has easy access to the bus and is very close to the city centre. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed✨
Don’t pay too much attention to the negative reviews, they are not always genuine and are meant to drop the rating of the business on google.

I have been practicing at Yoga Spirit for some time now, and it has truly become a sanctuary in my week.
The teachers are not only experienced but also genuinely caring, taking the time to guide everyone according to their ability.
The community vibe is wonderful too. You walk in and instantly feel connected — it’s more than just a yoga class; it feels like belonging to a family. The studio space itself is calm, clean, and peaceful, adding to the overall experience.
If you are looking for an authentic yoga experience in Adelaide that helps with stress, sleep, energy, and mindfulness, I highly recommend Yoga Spirit.

I moved back to Adelaide after a breakup. Not able to calm my nervous system, my naturopath suggested I take up yoga. The universe must have been taking care of me because Yoga Spirit Studio was literally a short walk away from my house.
I purchased the two week trial pack to see what I liked, but after booking into level 1 yin yoga and slow flow I am hooked to the more relaxing style of yoga.
I love that there is no expectations and the experience at Yoga Spirit Studio is truly spiritual for me. Four weeks of practice I have been able to calm my nervous system and stop the anxiety attacks.
Vani and the team are wonderful. I always feel so welcomed. I love Sharmaine’s class on a Thursday night, it’s the perfect way to ensure I get a great nights sleep. Simon’s class on a Friday morning is a wonderful way to move slowly into my weekend.
I can’t recommend Yoga Spirit Studio enough. Especially if you are looking to enhance your health and calm yourself from the daily stress of life.

I joined Equilibrium not long after the studio opened on Unley Rd. And it’s been such a beautiful experience and addition to my well-being plan. Ellie and the team are just gorgeous. The space has been created to provide a warm, inclusive and totally welcoming experience. First up: parking at the Glenelg studio is super easy due to the 2hr free car park nearby. It’s a short walk to the studio and well lit when making the walk at night.
The studio is immediately welcoming. All those first nerves go as you’re shown around and get ready. The teachers here are kind and welcoming and supportive, meeting you wherever you’re at: long term yogi, or first timer.
Classes are varied and lots to choose from, there is mat hire available. Mat storage for members. Do what you can and see how you change over time. Variations are offered to meet you wherever you are, and you can check in at the end if you’ve got questions over a cup of tea.
Honestly, why would you go anywhere else? They’re a B-Corp to boot and doing incredible things in our community!

Humankind Hot Yoga in Glenelg is truly a hidden gem. As a lash technician, I deal with a lot of back and hand pain from long hours of detailed work. This isn’t just yoga – it’s been a total game changer for my body and my mind. The breathing techniques help me release tension, and the practice brings so much balance into my life. Not only has my pain reduced, but my mindset has shifted to be more positive and present. I’m so grateful I found this place – it supports both my career and my well-being in ways I never expected!

Ben is very passionate and hard working. I trained with him since I first started Uni in Adelaide. I was very nervous about practising yoga with a group of people but Ben built my confidence. He helped me train and motivated me to practise my handstands every day. I would highly recommend Ben’s yoga classes as he ensures that all who come to practise, leaves with a good knowledge of yogic postures and anatomy. I absolutely love this gym. I moved to the area last year and Amy has been amazing in helping me transfer my membership, along with many other questions so a big thank you to her! The other girls at the desk are also lovely. It has a great atmosphere, and 2 infared sauna’s included in memberships, there has never been a time where I haven’t been able to hop in after a session. I’m yet to use my supervised play card but think this is fabulous for all mums trying to make some time for themselves to work out. Also love that they have healthy snacks available and a coffee shop at the front which makes the BEST iced coffees. 10/10

I’ve always been into my fitness growing up but after having my two children. I have been hesitant to get back into a gym setting. Being a full time working Mum and not sure on to start training again. Fernwood has been a perfect fit, their classes being between 30 minutes and 45 minutes are ideal. The range of class options and times is amazing and not to mention being able to access the crèche when needed makes it a whole lot easier. The sauna is excellent for recovery and to also unwind from the stresses of everyday life. The easy going nature of all the staff members and willingness to help is incredible not to mention how friendly all the members are. I am so so glad I joined and feel I will be a member for a very long time! I am the fittest and strongest I have ever been, even after having an abdominal hysterectomy and that is due to the flexibility and options this gym has to offer! Thank-you Fernwood Salisbury

In the overall it’s alright. It’s not the best gym I’ve been to, but OK. Not overcrowded, which is a bonus, however it lacks modern equipments and the music is just awful. Most of the time
hurry up with my exercises and can’t wait to run outside just so I can rest my ears. Honestly, I’m starting to consider visiting other gyms and switching.

I absolutely adore this gym! The classes are engaging, the equipment is top-notch, and the trainers are knowledgeable and supportive. But what truly sets this gym apart is its incredible community. Everyone is friendly, helpful, kind, and supportive – it’s the perfect environment to feel motivated and inspired.
I’ve been a member on and off over the years, and I can confidently say that this gym just gets better and better. The new saunas and yoga classes are absolute game-changers – the perfect way to unwind and relax after a tough week of training.
I love that there’s something for everyone here – whether you’re into weights, cardio, or group classes, you’ll find it all. And the best part? It’s never intimidating. The gym is incredibly inclusive, making it the perfect space for women of all fitness levels to come together and support one another.
If you’re looking for a gym that truly feels like a community, look no further. I couldn’t recommend this women’s only gym more – it’s truly fantastic!” 5/5 stars

Where do I start with Fernwood? Because the overall experience has been amazing. Over many years I’ve been to 4 other different gyms, however since becoming a mother I needed somewhere that suited my lifestyle and worked with my schedule. The day I joined Fernwood the ladies have been incredible and provide such a friendly, super accommodating and empathetic vibe. The staff members as well as the other members have been nothing but supportive and warm to approach. This has made my transition getting back into the gym alot smoother with the anxiety of it all just being thrown out of the window. They have everything you need provided and exceed any expectation you may think a gym would have. The ladies in the creche have been nothing but beautiful also (the entire team is just wonderful) they provide a safe space to bring your children and care for them as if they are their own. It has been so hard to start distancing myself from my son but having the support whilst he is still there with me has made it feel that is such a safe space to be. I could go on but I’ll leave it there. Thankyou Fernwood Salisbury. You guys are honestly more than just a gym. You’re the backbone to many other woman and mums.

I can’t recommend Be Well Studio enough! This studio has been a true blessing in my life. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable, compassionate, and supportive, creating a welcoming space where everyone feels accepted. ♀️ Yoga here has helped me not only improve my mental health by easing my anxiety but also manage my Parkinson’s symptoms more effectively.
No one gets unnoticed here—the instructors are incredibly welcoming and supportive. They celebrate your achievements and help you grow. They push you to your limits so you can become the best version of yourself, and that is truly incredible.
I’ve been able to do things with my body now, living with Parkinson’s, that I couldn’t even do before I had Parkinson’s. They have helped me overcome my fears and grow in ways I never imagined.
I encourage anyone with a disability to come and join us at Be Well Studio. Their knowledge, nurturing, and support—and the way they treat you the same as everyone else—have helped me to be the best version of myself.
The community at Be Well Studio is like family—no judgment, just encouragement and kindness. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced yogi, this studio offers classes that meet you where you are. If you’re looking for a place to grow physically, mentally, and emotionally, this is it! ✨

I’ve been going to Be Well Yoga Studio since it first opened, and it has always been a place of warmth, community, and incredible teaching. I knew the previous owner, and now with Cathy at the helm, the studio continues to thrive with the same welcoming and supportive energy.
The instructors are fantastic—highly experienced, knowledgeable, and genuinely caring. They all bring something special to their classes. No matter your level, you’ll find a class that suits you. They offer such a great variety of yoga styles, and I’ve even done back-to-back sessions (which is an amazing experience!).
This studio isn’t just about yoga—it’s about connection. The team goes above and beyond, always sharing positive energy and creating a space where everyone feels at home. After facing some health challenges, I can truly say that the support and expertise of the instructors have made a huge difference in my well-being.
If you’re looking for a yoga studio with great teachers, a wonderful community, and a positive atmosphere, Be Well is the place to be!

Being my first time trying Hot Yoga I had no idea what to expect. I walked into such a peaceful and calm vibe, the instructor Olivia was super warm and welcoming. The class itself was definitely an experience! Olivia was incredible in her guidance on the poses throughout the class, it was challenging but I walked away feeling great.

Sunday afternoon yoga with Olivia is wonderful. This is the ultimate reset for me for the week gone, and the new week ahead. Olivia is a wonderful and knowledgeable instructor, and her classes are demanding, in the best way. She has a warm and caring personality and energy. I look forward to many Sunday sessions! The studio is a little unkept on the outside, and also in the main yoga room – I would love to get in there and give it a good clean.

Fantastic studio. I am a newbie to yoga (only attended twice so far) on a 14 day trial. I came with a friend to my first class and loved it so much that I came back again the next day. Being somebody that also works in customer service, I felt it necessary to leave a review to let others know what a welcoming place Yogafusion is. Jamie has been excellent and is more than happy to share his expertise (which you don’t always get especially when on a trial!) I am looking forward to trying out some other classes with different instructors and will definitely be signing up once my trial is up. Thank you for a great experience!

When I first started going I was nervous about being in my mid 40s starting something new and almost dragged kicking and screaming by family. But I’m glad I was.
Gary’s passion, patience, attention to detail and depth of knowledge make for an interesting, ever evolving, fulfilling and relaxing class (relaxing afterwards, so relaxed I float to my car and always have a great nights sleep)
His customer base with many of them attending his classes for decades is a true testament to his style of teaching so if you are looking for a yoga studio to nestle into for the long haul then this is the one to go for.

I have been coming to Gary’s classes for many years (and to other teachers at Hatha Yoga Shala too). The attention to detail and deep respect for the philosophy and teachings of yoga make this such a lovely, holistic and present space. After every class I am always grateful for Gary’s teaching and kind and calming style. I feel strong, grounded and thankful.

I have recently been taking Gary’s classes. I find them very therapeutic – sleeping much much better every night that I have so much energy next day. The holistic approach along with the changes in moon cycles, weathers, and seasons helps me to understand the changes in my mind and body. Highly recommend! Thank you so much!

This is such a good yoga school that I’ve been coming here since about 2005. Classes are targeted at different levels, and then Gary further tailors the class to the abilities of the students within it. The focus on breathing and working each part of your body means you leave feeling relaxed and so much better than when you arrived. At the same time, this yoga form builds strength and stamina, along with flexibility. A mix of women and men come to classes, demonstrating the appeal of the school and Gary’s teaching ability. Highly recommended.

Hatha Yoga Classes
Hatha yoga is a foundational practice, and yoga centres in Adelaide frequently offer Hatha yoga classes. These sessions focus on basic postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and relaxation, designed to improve strength, flexibility, and overall well-being. It's often a good starting point for beginners.
Vinyasa Flow Yoga
For those seeking a more dynamic practice, Vinyasa flow yoga is commonly offered. This style links movement and breath in a continuous sequence, building heat and cardiovascular fitness while deepening the mind-body connection. Instruction emphasizes transitioning smoothly between poses.
Restorative Yoga Sessions
Yoga centres prioritize relaxation and stress reduction with restorative yoga sessions. This gentle approach utilizes props like bolsters and blankets to support the body in passive poses, allowing for deep relaxation and nervous system regulation. It’s suitable for all levels.
Yin Yoga Practice
Many studios offer Yin yoga practice, which focuses on holding poses for longer durations to target the deep connective tissues (fascia). This style promotes flexibility, improves joint mobility, and cultivates a meditative state. It's often complemented with mindfulness techniques.
Prenatal Yoga Classes
Yoga centres in Adelaide often cater to expectant mothers with prenatal yoga classes. These classes are specifically designed to address the unique physical and emotional needs of pregnant women, promoting comfort, strength, and preparation for childbirth. Expert guidance is key.
Yoga for Specific Needs
Recognizing diverse needs, yoga centres frequently provide classes tailored for specific populations. This can include yoga for back pain, yoga for anxiety, or yoga for seniors, adjusting the intensity and poses to suit individual limitations and goals. Specialized instructors are critical.
Meditation and Mindfulness Workshops
Beyond physical postures, many centres offer meditation and mindfulness workshops. These sessions teach techniques for cultivating inner peace, managing stress, and developing greater self-awareness, often incorporating guided meditations and mindfulness practices.
Private Yoga Instruction
For individuals seeking personalized attention, yoga centres often provide private yoga instruction. This allows for customized lesson plans, individual adjustments, and in-depth guidance tailored to unique goals and physical needs. Experienced instructors are important for safety and effectiveness.
Frequently Asked Questions about Yoga Centres in Adelaide
What types of yoga are typically offered at yoga centres in Adelaide?
Yoga centres in Adelaide usually offer a variety of yoga styles to suit different preferences and levels of experience. Common styles include Hatha yoga, which is a foundational practice; Vinyasa yoga, known for its flowing sequences; Ashtanga yoga, a more structured and physically demanding practice; Restorative yoga, which focuses on relaxation and stress relief; and Yin yoga, which targets deep connective tissues. Many centres also offer specialized classes for prenatal or postnatal individuals.
How do I choose the right yoga centre for me?
Choosing the right yoga centre is a personal decision. Consider your level of experience – some centres cater specifically to beginners, while others are better suited for more experienced practitioners. Also, think about the atmosphere you prefer – some centres have a more spiritual focus, while others are more fitness-oriented. Reading reviews and trying a beginner’s class at a few different centres can help you find a good fit.
What should I expect from my first yoga class?
For your first yoga class, it's important to arrive a little early to sign in and familiarize yourself with the space. The instructor will likely begin with an introduction to the style of yoga being practiced and some basic breathing techniques. Don't feel pressured to keep up with everyone else—listen to your body, modify poses as needed, and focus on your own practice. It’s perfectly okay to take breaks when you need them.
What do I need to bring to a yoga class?
Most yoga centres provide mats, but some prefer you to bring your own for hygiene purposes. You’ll also want to wear comfortable clothing that allows for a full range of motion. Bringing a towel is a good idea, especially for more physically demanding classes. Finally, don’t forget a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the practice.
Are there different membership options available?
Most yoga centres in Adelaide offer various membership options to suit different needs and budgets. Common options include drop-in classes, monthly unlimited passes, and annual memberships. Some centres also offer package deals or discounts for students, seniors, or healthcare professionals. Compare the costs and benefits of each option to find the best value for you.
What is the typical class size?
Class sizes at yoga centres in Adelaide can vary depending on the popularity of the class and the size of the studio. Some centres may have smaller, more intimate classes with around 10-15 students, while others may have larger classes with 20-30 students or more. It’s a good idea to inquire about average class sizes if you prefer a specific level of personal attention.
What is the dress code for yoga classes?
While there isn't a strict dress code, it’s generally recommended to wear comfortable and modest clothing that doesn't restrict your movement. Avoid clothing with zippers or buttons that could be distracting to you or others. Many studios suggest wearing athletic wear, yoga pants, or shorts. The focus should be on ease of movement and respect for the space.
Do yoga centres offer classes for different skill levels?
Yes, most yoga centres in Adelaide cater to a wide range of skill levels. Many offer beginner-friendly classes that introduce the basic poses and techniques. They also have intermediate and advanced classes for those with more experience. Look for classes specifically labelled as "beginner," "level 2," or "advanced" to find the appropriate fit for your current level of practice. The goal is to progress safely.
What about cancellation policies?
Yoga centres typically have cancellation policies to manage class bookings. These policies often require advance notice (e.g., 24 hours) to avoid being charged for a missed class. The specific details of the policy are usually outlined on the centre's website or during the booking process. Be sure to understand the policy before signing up for classes to avoid unexpected charges.
Are there any specialised yoga classes available?
Beyond the standard yoga styles, many centres offer specialized classes that focus on specific goals or populations. These might include yoga for back pain, yoga for athletes, prenatal yoga, postnatal yoga, or even yoga combined with other practices like meditation or aromatherapy. Check the centre's schedule or website to see if they offer classes that align with your specific interests or needs.
